"Emi, wake up! You're going to be late for school again!" I heard my mother shouting from downstairs.
Crap!I muttered under my breath as I noticed sunlight already streaming through my window. I quickly grabbed my phone to check the time, and... Shit, I'm late. I'm going to be late for university again.
I leapt out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to take care of business and at least wash my face. I grabbed the first things I could find—a hoodie and some ripped jeans—and threw them on.
I shot down the stairs, where my mother was already waiting at the bottom, inviting me to have breakfast.
"Sorry, Mom, but I'm running late!" I gave her a hug and dashed out of the house, finding my best friend waiting right outside in her car.
I hopped in and said, "No time for long greetings—let's go or we won't make it!"
Sara laughed at my comment but didn't hesitate to reply as she hit the accelerator, "If I didn't know that my sweet fri—"
