key's check, purse check, with one final check of Jessica's reflection, she felt confident the job would be hers. she had tried to tame her wild locks back into a braid, she had applied eye liner and eye shadow. she wasn't one for make up, it just felt fake to apply anything more. Jessica was well aware that she was neither pretty nor ugly. she was just plain. she settled in to her walk ready to conquer the world. She felt her heart skip as a young man headed in her direction. he was indeed handsome, with a smile that could easily melt any women's heart. A very deep husky voice asked,"You must be Jessica?"

she found her self instantly a ball of raw nerves, "Yes I am". All she could think about was how her body was reacting to him. she could feel her face becoming red.

"Great we need help desperately, you came highly recommend, do you have any questions about waitressing before your shift starts." he waited while I nodded a no then continued. "You will follow and help Trish today, she is very capable and will be able to show you everything you need to know." I watched as he turned and waited expectantly for me to follow. I licked my lips nervously and tried to swallow down my attraction for him. This man was beautiful beyond words, I shook my head as I followed him into the Cafe, there's no way someone like him would want anything to do with a girl like me.

"This is Trish, Trish I will leave Jessica in your hands." with that I watched as he headed to the kitchen area leaving with Trish. Trish was a little older than me but prettier in every way. She smiled and I couldn't help but to return her smile.

"Hi, Jessica don't worry I will take it easy on you today," Trish handed me a menu before she continued. " Try to learn the menu while I wrap silverware." I watched her hands as they wrapped napkins around the silverware effortlessly. I was trying to concentrate on the menu and the items listed but I couldn't stop my mind from wandering over the events so far. Where they dating each other, was he single. If he was single did I have a chance. I found myself shaking my head again, come on Jessica focus, you need this job. this job means your freedom. The thought of my freedom brought a small smile to my face. after two years of being who someone else wanted me to be, I could finally learn who I was.
