Incident from yesterday: It’s a month until Darien’s mother’s birthday so Alex wants to pick out a suitable gift for her earlier. They agreed to meet at the mall in 3:00p.m, half an hour after the dismissal. However, Darien was late because another girl confessed to him... the talk lasted about an hour. By the time Darien got to the mall (because of traffic), it’s already 5:30 p.m.
The weather was snowing cold that day. Alex waited outside the mall, afraid that when Darien comes he wouldn’t find him. Darien didn’t have time to text Alex that he’s going to be late. Since he left his phone in the classroom. On the other end, Alex called Darien many times. When Darien called Alex back in the Taxi, Alex’s phone battery already died.

Note: Alex got to know Darien when he’s just a middle schoolers, since then Alex has been celebrating his birthday with Darien. To him Darien is even more important than his adoptive parents.
