My name is emma stai. I am the first born of the stai family and the heir to the throne,though through out the reign of the stai family there have never been a female on the throne and I was going to change that. Though not a lot of people are happy about that and my dad nearly left my mother but it could not be changed.

A lot of people hate me especially my father who prefers his second child who is also his first son. I have always been lonely,nobody to look after me all I see in people eyes when they look at me is hatred even my mother who suffered a lot of abuse before giving birth to my brother. All I do is wake up eat and study and sleep but mainly study because I will be taking the throne when I turn eighteen.

Only if I knew what was in store for me.........

It all started a week before my birthday.

I was with my only friend whose name was stella when someone came to call me

"Good morning ma ,you have been requested for in the dining room" said the maid

"Who requested for my presence because I know nobody in this family like me to be anywhere near them" I asked

"Your mother ma" said the maid

I was so startled to hear my mother was the one who requested for my presence. I have missed my mother so much even though we were leaving in the same house we were like strangers since the time my brother was born. I don't hate my brother in fact me and him are very close even though my father must not know about this because he hates that I am the one taking the throne not my brother,he has always wanted a male heir. I just don't understand why a female can't be heir to the throne and I think I will make an excellent ruler no matter what anyone says.

I jumped out of the chair me and my friend were sharing immediately to dress and meet my mother. I wonder what she wanted to talk about.

"I will see you later stella, sorry I have to leave you soon. I will make it up to you later" I said

"No, it's okay I know how much you've missed your mother so go don't let me be a bother" she said.

I left the room feeling very happy not without telling my best friend how much I appreciated her. I was at the dining room entrance when I had a terrible feeling but I brushed it off I won't allow anything to spoil my day, so I entered inside feeling very happy when I sighted my mother.

"Hello mother, I heard you requested for my presence" I said smiling.

"Yes I did, I just finished speaking to your father about your enthronement which will be happening a week from now" she said smiling.

I noticed something was odd about her smile, it was looking forced.

"And what will that be" I asked.

"It has been very long since we hung out together and just have girls time like we did when you were small ,so I wanted us to have a picnic together in the woods were we used to go when you were small to have a little chat before you are queen and won't even have time for this again "She said

I almost cried because I have waited for this day for years now, I am just wondering why she didn't think about this earlier why now that I almost queen.

I have a bad feeling about this, but what is the worst that could happen.

I went up to my room to change to an appropriate outfit, by that time Stella had already gone and I really wanted to tell her about the bad feeling I am having. I went downstairs to meet my mother ready to go. We were on our way to the woods to set up the picnic and have a nice chat like mother wanted when suddenly she stopped.

"I want me and emma to be alone ,the rest of you stay here" she said to the guards that were with us.

So it was only me and my mother that went to the clearing in the woods to set up the picnic to have an alone time while the guards who were a little bit far from us kept watch.

"I remember when we used to come here, you were just a little innocent girl at that time and we would always play hide and seek" said mother

I smiled remembering those times, only if she knew how much I missed her.

"Well we can still play right,I mean this will be the last time I will be your little girl" I said smiling.

"Of course darling, I mean this was part of the reason I said we should come here" She said.

"Well before we start can I ask you a question about something that has been bothering me since you suggested this picnic" I said.

"what will that be" she said looking a bit panicked.

"Well why after all this time did you ask for a picnic together, you have been avoiding me since you gave birth to jake (my brother) and sometimes when I would catch up to you, your eyes will be filled of hatred for me to the extent I won't be able to ask you anything, I missed you so much" I said tears threatening to spill from my eyes.

She smiled a little bit forcedly if I am seeing correctly.

"Why don't we just forget about the past for now and focus on the present, I know you have a lot of questions and I will make sure to answer them after the picnic, so let us forget about that for now and have fun" she said.

"Okay then, I will hide and you will seek but please don't forget to answer my questions later mother" I said a little bit seriously.

"Yes darling, later" she said looking at me a little fiercely might I add.

So I went to hide, feeling a little bit better, I am pretty sure she has started looking for me and it will be a little bit difficult for her to find me because I am so good at hiding, I was thinking to myself when I heard ...

"Found you" My mother said smiling with mischief holding something behind her back, now I wonder what she will be hiding.

"What are you hiding behind your back mother" I said smiling when she was already closer to me.

"Won't you like to know Darling" she said.

So before I knew it I felt a sharp pain at my side, I looked down with dread and found a knife stabbed into my chest.

"Why would you do this mother" tears spilling from my eyes.

"Why wouldn't I you ungrateful b****, you took everything from me the day you were born and now you think you can also have the throne that should be your brother's, I will rather die than see that happen" she said spitting on me.

"What do you mean by that mother" I said breathing heavily, my eyes already closing, but I must know what she meant by I took everything from her.

"What I meant to say you b**** was that after giving birth to a girl instead of a boy I was belittled sometimes your father beat me up saying I was a disgrace and would go to sleep outside with other women, but one day GOD answered my prayer and gave me a boy and that made your father happy so he came to love me again, but you are going to ruin everything if you take that throne and I won't let it happen. Your father said that he will stop sleeping outside if i am able to stop you from ascending the throne and that is what I am going to do" she said looking at me with hatred.

"So I hope you have a lovely time in your grave darling" she said

"No don't .....

she stabbed me again and again until everywhere was dark.

I woke up groggily wondering where I was, I remembered being with mother in the woods playing......... I stood up immediately from the unknown bed I was lying on just to feel sharp pain at my chest, I looked down to find it bandaged. I broke down, I can't believe my mother stabbed me because of the throne, wait a minute how am I still alive, because anyone stabbed that many times would be buried seven ft under the ground by now.

"Hello is anyone here" I shouted.

I heard the door opening just to see a well dressed man on the other side.

"Oh you are already awake, how are you doing" he said.

"Well I am okay I guess, by the way how am I still alive" I said surprised, because I was stabbed more than once and I don't think anyone can survive that.

"Yes about that, the head hunter found your body deep down in the forest waiting for wild animals to feast on. What were you even doing there in the first place and who stabbed you" he said.

Tears were already threatening to spill from my eyes but I maintained myself.

"Well you didn't answer all of my questions, especially the most important one that is how am I still alive" I said waiting for his answer.

''Just thank your lucky stars that the person who stabbed you was not experienced and missed your vital organs'' he said.

I breathed a sigh of relief wondering where I was, now that I think about it this room is huge and decorated grandly.

"If I may ask, what is your name and where am I" I asked

"Well I can certainly answer that question, my name is cooper james the head of the palace guards and you my dear are in the number one palace in the world'' he said

''Oh my, don't tell me....silver's palace" I said shocked.

Now for those who are wondering what is silver's palace, it is the largest palace in the world and the people who own it are very powerful and rich and not just anyone can come here. We are technically neighbors but we hate eachothers gut, I am pretty sure they would have allowed me to die if they knew who I was, the more reason to leave here now.

"Okay thank you very much cooper, I should get going before people start worrying about me'' I said.

''Where do you think you are going, if my hunch is correct the person that stabbed you is in very much where you are going to,right? ''he said

"Oh my how could I forget he is totally right, if I go to the palace now they will still find a way to kill me and this time permanently. Tears flowing freely from eyes now, where would I go to now and the silvers practically hate the stais family or else I would have asked for a job and sometime in the palace until I am stable.

"With the way you are crying, I will take it that I am correct. Yes before I forget you were practically also in coma for a week '' he said.

''Did you just say a week" I said feeling dread in my stomach, now there is no hope of going back home and my brother is practically king now.

I didn't hold back the tears this time.
