In our world there was no such thing as light. Everyone always fight each other. Some people team up with other people and some people resort to killing other people. There was not a lot of food or water to survive but somehow we did manage to live and that was thanks to our friendship. But lately our friends were running off somewhere and were keeping secrets from us. Now slowly our friendship was starting to shatter.

"Kaito when will we leave this place?" my younger brother Ryo asked me.

"I don't know..." I answered.

Ryo gripped my hand tighter.

"I wish mom and dad were still with us..." I heard Ryo mutter.

I didn't say anything. It had been years since our parents were killed by their rivals. The main reason was because they were hungry for more power and thought that our parents were a threat to them. In fact they would even sacerfice their own friends just so they would stay safe.

"Kaito look!" Ryo yelled as he pointed his finger at our friend Shino who abandoned us a long time ago.

We saw him talking to our rivals known as Killers. We hid behind a wall and heard a very shocking truth which cause my eyes to widened in shock. Shino was actually a spy from Killers.

I felt really betrayed. He lied to us about everything.

"Kaito what are we going to do now?" Ryo asked me.

I just stood silent. I never once thought that our own friends would betray us like this. I thought we could trust them but now I realized I was very wrong about them.

"Kaito?" Ryo called out again.

"Ryo I want you to promise me something" I told him.

"What do you want me to promise?" Ryo asked me.

"Ryo my dear brother I want you to not search for me if I don't come back...I don't want you to be put in danger" I told him.

"Kaito what do you mean?" Ryo asked me.

I took out my knife from my pocket and handed it to Ryo.

"Kaito why are you-" Ryo started

"Ryo I want you to keep this knife for me and not hand it to anyone" I told him.

"But what about you?" Ryo asked me.

"I will survive..." I said.

"Kaito..." Ryo said.

"Ryo go" I said.

"But-" he started.

"Please go Ryo and don't look back" I said.

Ryo nodded and ran. I walked toward Shino and the rest of the members of Killers.

"So this was what you have been doing after you left us" I said.

"Kaito I can explain..." Shino said.

"Then do it!" I yelled.

Shino backed away with fear.

"Kaito I didn't want you to be harmed...They told me that if I didn't leave yoj and join them they would kill you and the rest of our friends" Shino said.

"You little brat I will kill you for telling him that" the leader of Killers Seino yelled.

I Seino grabbed his knife and swung it at Shino but I caught it before it touched Shino's chest.

"You had some nerve for turning my friend against me and trying to kill them..." I hissed.

"And are you going to do?" Seino asked me.

"I am going to make you pay dearly for it" I said.

Seino laughed.

"You make me pay? Only a fool would challenge someone they could not beat" he said.

"Don't get so cocky..." I said.

At moment two men grabbed my arms.

"It is time for you to die" he said.

I closed my eyes. I am so sorry for leaving you Ryo.

I waited dor the pain to come but it did not come. I opened my eyes and saw Shino laying on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood.

"That guy was a idiot...If he didn't intervene then he would have lived..." Seino said.

"SHINO!" I yelled.

I pulled my arms out of their grip and kicked punched them. I then walked toward Seino and punched him hard in the stomach. Seino coughed out blood.

"You will pay..." I said.

But before I could do anything to him a knife plunged through my stomach and caused me to fall to my knees.

"You shouldn't have gotten involved. Now you will die a slow and painful death" Shay a boy who I thought was a friend said.

"There will be someone who will stop you" I said with pain.

"Prehaps but that person will meet his end quickly" Shay said.

I clicked my tounge and crawled to Shino's lifeless body.

Shay...I swear on my dead best friend Shino you will pay for all the sins you committed" I said.

"We will see...Now goodbye my friend" Shay said.

I closed my eyes and prayed that Ryo got away and is safe. I hoped he would save the other people who were caught in this mess and bring an end to this dark age...

I saw a boy around a year younger than me approaching closer and closer to my small village. I quickly ran to the entrance.

"Who are you?" I asked him.

The boy said nothing. He was holding a knife.

"Answer me" I yelled.

He gripped his knife tighter. I grabbed him by his shirt. The boy stabbed my hand. I screamed in pain.

"That is it you brat I am going to kill you" I said.

Then I saw a flicker of fear in his eyes for a moment.

"Are you running from somebody?" I asked him.

The boy just turned his head away from me.

"Come on at least say something" I begged.

At that moment he collapsed. I took him to my room.After what felt like an hour he finally woke up.

"So who are you and why are you here?" I asked him.

"That is none of your business" he replied coldly.

I was both shocked and angry at him. The reason I am shocked was because this was the first time I heard him speak. He refused to speak the last time I questioned him so I was positive he wouldn't speak this time and the reason I was angry was because of his attitude toward me. I got over my shock of hearing his voice quickly but I didn't get over my anger toward him and pushed his back against the wall and forced him to look into my eyes.

"What the hell is your problem?" I asked him with anger.

"Why do you want to know? In fact why do you even care?"he asked me with tears streaming down his cheeks.

"I am worried ok?" I replied with anger.

The kid became silent for a moment.

"Ryo" he said quietly.

"Hah?" I asked.

"My name is Ryo" he said.

I smiled slightly and gently took the hand of the boy named Ryo.

"My name is Silver Yoru but I prefer to be called Chains" I said with a grin.

"Chains it is then but don't think this meant I trust you. I am still very cautious of you" he said.

I shrugged my shoulders.

"Whatever. By the way you will be staying with me from now on. You will also sleep in the same bed as me.

""Why?" he asked me.

"To keep an eye on you. After all it will be terrible to see you leave so soon. Not to mention you will be a very easy target for other rival gangs" I said.

"Fine..." he said grumpily.

I just smiled and tossed him a pendant.

"What is this for?" he asked me as soon as he catcher it.

"It is a tracker. It will tell me if you are in danger so please make sure you don't take it off" I told him.

He thought for a moment.

"Fine but under one condition" he said.

"And what is that condition?" I asked him.

"You need to wear a tracker too so I will know where you are so I can find you if I ever need something" he said.

I sighed and agreed to Ryo's request. I took out a black collar with spikes and put it on.

"There happy?" I asked him.

"Very" he said.

I handed him a key.

"This is the spare key to my house. Make sure you don't loose it" I told him.

"Ok" he said before putting it into his pocket.

I left the room. At the moment I had no idea that our relationship will turn into something more or about the problems we were going to face.

I still can't believe he forgot me. He said he would remember me but he didn't. Arghhh. I hate him so much!

"Ray!!!!" Sakura yelled.

"What is it?" I asked grumpily.

"King and Joker want to talk to you" she said.

"You mean those clowns who were named after a the cards king and joker?" I asked him.

"Ray that was really disrespectful" she said.

"That is strange coming from the person who bullied my younger brother White two years ago cause he was named after a color?" I said.

"I changed this time I promise" Sakura said.

"Tech fine" I said as I rolled my eyes.

"Thanks a bunch friend" she said.

"Don't call me that"I said.

We headed to King's palace. Joker was talking to a young kid.

"Sup Mr.Joker what surprise do you have for me today? Is it about your story of how you met King or did you need me to go on a wild goose chase again?" I asked him.

"First of all you need to be more respectful to me and second of all this meeting is very important" Joker said with an annoyed tone.

"Oh really? And what is so important that you had to send Sakura to fetch me. I mean did you not know how much I hate this girl ever since she bullied White two years ago?" I asked in a sarcastic tone.

"Ray I told you plenty of times that Sakura changed. Why can you not get this through your skull?" Joker asked me.

"I will believe it when she actually does something heroic like DYING" I yelled.

Sakura's face turned a bit gloomy.

"We are going to have a long chat after this Mr.Ray. But for right now go into the god dam throne room" Joker said.

"Fine" I said.

I headed toward the throne room and found King standing there with a glass of red wine in hand.

"Ah Ray it has been a while" he said with a smile.

"If you mean being apart for 13 years after my mother's death a while then yes it has been a while" I said.

"Ray I told you that I tried everything I could to save her. It just wasn't possible. Her fate was decided the moment she entered this world" King said.

"You're a big fat liar. You never tried to save my mother. You were too busy to do that!" I yelled with rage.

"Ray please try to listen-" he started.

"Just tell me what you want so I can go back home" I said.

"The creator asked us if we wanted to join a story she created" King said.

"And what did you reply King?" I asked him.

"Yes..." King said.

"Cool well I am going home" I said.

"Not so fast brother! If you heard properly King agreed to the creator's request which means that you will have to stay here till the the story is done" my twin brother, Kiro declared.

"You got to be freaking kidding me!" I yelled.

"I am afraid not. But don't worry we will treat you with great care" King's daughter Iren said.

"Ugh!. I hate this! I am going to kill both you and the creator for doing this to me!" I yelled to King.

"You know if you tried to do that the creator will permanently remove you right?" Iren said.

"Oh come on! Why does this world hate me so much!" I complained.

"Well anyway we better check our script. We don't want to mess up our lines when our turn comes" Iren said.

"Yeah yeah whatever you say" I said.

And so we spent the rest of the day memorizing our lines.
