Prologue - First Day

⚠️Blood and gore warning!!⚠️
The dark windows of K Corps whistled with the heavy breeze from outside.
Jessica walked beside her new boss to her workstation.
For some reason, Jessica was nervous. It could have just been the new job, but it was more of a scared-for-her-life nervous.
Though the pristine, recently white painted walls were bright and very modern, not in any way scary, she couldn’t control the sweat building on her palms.
Mr. K
Alright, this would be it, Ms. Wineheart.
Jessica Wineheart
Th-Thank you, sir!
Mr. K
Please, it’s just Mr. K. *Smiles warmly*

*Returns the grin* Ok, got it.

I-I wanted to, um… thank you for this… uh, job.
Jessica Wineheart
I really appreciate the opportunity t-to work here!
Jessica stepped into her brand new office. It was just as bright as the rest of the twenty-story building.
It wasn’t large, just barely larger than a master bedroom.
Though it wasn’t big, Jessica was glad to be working here.
She sat in her swivel chair and placed her laptop on her smooth wooden desk.

-This can’t be all bad, it’s a really nice office-

-Not to mention, Mr. K is no where near as intimidating as he seems.-
And with that positive thought, Jessica begun her first day on a good note.

Do you think she’ll survive her first day, sir?

Just because it was quite a shock when I found out what we actually do here.

I think once she finds out, she’ll stick around.

Despite the others who hadn’t…

But I have high hopes for Ms. Wineheart!

And stop it with the “sir”! Mr. K is fine!

*Sigh* It’s alright, we should focus on cleaning this mess.
They each gazed down at the pile before them.
Each body was either oozing blood, or had already stopped and it began to dry to their clothes.
Some of them had their organs, intestines and all, spilling out, due to a large cut through the stomach.
But, without a doubt, each and every one of them was dead.
The two men wiped the red from their hands and began moving the dead.
The obvious trails of blood soon to be washed away with a water hose.

Episode 2 - Intrigued

Jessica had started her job a week ago.
It wasn’t exactly new anymore, but she certainly wasn’t used to it.
Waking up before ten in the morning wasn’t something easy for her.
But, surprisingly, Jessica woke up at 8 a.m. today, ready for the day.

Woah, eight?

Maybe it’s good luck?

May as well get ready.
This morning, Jessica dressed in some newly bought black jeans and a long-sleeve white shirt, not bothering to be fancy on her fifth day.
She pulled her long black hair up in a ponytail and headed down the stairs in her favorite black heels.
Her mother was in the kitchen, scraping a nearly burned sunny-side egg off of the pan.
She slid it onto a plate along with jelly toast and turkey bacon.
Ever since her childhood, Jessica refused to eat pork. She loved pigs too much to ingest them.
Her mother spun to the kitchen island.

Jessi- oh! You’re already up?
Megan Wineheart
You usually don’t wake until nine.

This is new.

Please don’t tell me they’re already moving your hours earlier!

You just began working there!

I knew it would have been better for you to let me choose your job.

M-Mom, wait-

You’re out working, making money or whatever while I’m stuck in stupid school, learning stuff we’re never gonna use in life!

Don’t say that, most things you learn will be very helpful in whatever job you choose.

Especially in careers.

*Sits and pulls plate to place mat* Thanks, mom!
Megan Wineheart
Of course, Jake. Jess, you’re not going to eat?
Jessica Wineheart
*Checks kitchen clock* Hmm… yeah, I think I still have enough time. *Sits at table and bites into toast* But I still have to make it to Alex’s.
Megan Wineheart
*Sits as well and begins eating* If you go there, you might not have enough time to make it to work.
Jessica Wineheart
I need something from her.

What’s that?

I told her about my job and, like always, she started doing some research on K Corps.
Jessica Wineheart
She said she found something suspicious and that I needed to see it.
Jessica Wineheart
Something about it happening in the early 1900’s and that it might still be going on, though she didn’t tell me what it was.
Jessica Wineheart
She made it very clear that she couldn’t tell me over the phone.
Jessica Wineheart
And, I don’t know, I guess it got me intrigued.
Jessica Wineheart
Especially how interested Alex was in the history of it.
Jessica Wineheart
*Takes bite out of turkey bacon* Just hope it’s nothing bad.
After breakfast, Jake heads to school and their mother goes to work while Jess goes to Alex’s.
She made it there just over an hour before her shift began.
Jessica Wineheart
*Knocks on front door*
Alex’s house was pretty small, no bigger than Jessica’s.
It was a red, plant covered one story with two bedrooms. Alex and her younger sister had to bunk together.
They were very close, no matter how many times they verbally fought.
Jessica had lots of memories in this house.
She considered them all happy. Even the ones where bad stuff happened, they were good when she had her best friend to be there for her.
Jessica could faintly hear footsteps stumbling down the hall in a hurry. Alex yanked the door wide open before Jessica could process everything.
Alex immediately grabbed Jessica’s arm and yanked her in without a word.
Jessica Wineheart
H-Hey, Alex! What’s going on!?
She didn’t say anything, just dragged Jessica into her room.
Still nothing. She kept the silence steady, as if she were angry with Jessica. Or at least that was what she thought.
Jessica Wineheart
A-Are you… mad at me?
Jessica Wineheart
Or something?
Jessica Wineheart
What’s going on?
Alex Fynnson
Mad? Why would I be mad at you?

I don’t know, you’re just ignoring me!

Ok, well I am mad.
