Chapter 1: Name

The trees rustled softly and the grass comforted Amelia as she lied down under an old cherry tree. Amelia comforted herself trying not to think of her mother’s passing. She sobbed and weeped for hours regretting how cruel she was to her Mother. Amelia wiped her tears and stood up only then she noticed a young man that looked close to her age, walking over to the old cherry tree that she was standing under.

"Hello.." the young man says "are you okay?"

Amelia looked at the young man and chuckled,

"Do I look okay?"

"Well I guess not" the man said in a soft tone. Amelia took a step forward and asked him,

"What’s your name?"

The young man smiled,

"My name is Nathan, what’s yours?"

Amelia jerked back lightly

"Oh, it’s Amelia, Amelia Calbrin."

Nathan and Amelia just stood there staring at eachother awkwardly. Amelia suddenly remembered that she had some sort of meeting for a job application early in the morning and looks down at her watch.

"Oh goodness, I better get going!"

Amelia awkwardly jogged away smiling. Nathan watched her jog away in the distance and had a mesmerized look in his eyes from her beauty. He soon walked away minutes after stalling, but unlike Amelia he had nothing to do. Nathan heard a beep that interrupted his deep thinking. He searched his pants frantically and found his phone. Nathan saw the contact information and rejected the call. He continued to walk down the bustling streets. Nathan couldn’t stop thinking about Amelia. As Nathan walked he pulled out his phone and dialled a number. The person he called answered and Nathan put his phone close to his ear.

"Hey, I need a favour from you." Nathan said with a quiet voice.

"Oh yeah" the unknown caller said back, "What do you need?"

Nathan stopped walking and and paused.

"Nathan, are you there?"

Nathan stuttered,

"I- I’m here."

"Okay so what do you need?"

Nathan hesitated and said,

"I want you to gather information on Amelia Calbrin..."

Amelia ran through downtown New York and frantically looked around searching for a specific building. She stopped and leaned against a parking meter constantly panting. Amelia got up and wiped the sweat of her forehead and continued running to her unknown destination. She then squinted at a skyscraper with mirror like windows and gasped.

"Woah", she said amazed "I think this is the place.."

Amelia walked towards the wide sliding doors and clenched her bag tightly. She leaned forward a bit before taking a step, but before Amelia started walking through the doors she took a deep breath and said,

"You got this."

Amelia smiled and walked through the doors with her head up high. She felt confident enough to go straight past reception and right to the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors closed Amelia realized that she had no idea where the ophthalmology department was. Amelia quickly searched her leather bag for her schedule. She found the schedule and frantically pulled out the paper. Her eyes scaled the paper from top to bottom looking for the department information.
