A frail boy who was diagnosed with promyelocytic leukemia at a young age. he is the older brother of Tae, and the middle child out of all three Kim siblings. he sometimes finds all the attention on his stifling. One of the few times that V experiences being a typical teenaged boy is when she dates, and has her first kiss with a girl named Jeona. V supports the feelings of his younger brother Tae, and is thankful for the bodily donations Tae has been made to give him throughout his lifetime. Near the end of the novel, V is revealed to be the one who asked Tae to sue for medical emancipation, because, fed up with the awareness of how much he took from him and the rest of their family, he wanted, for once, to be the brother who protected the other one.

V's Boyfriend. he is diagnosed with myeloid leukemia and meets V at the hospital while undergoing chemotherapy. V has some of his happiest times with him, as he's one of the only people with whom he's been able to fully relate, and to speak his deepest, true, feelings about being sick, with. They went to a prom but, sadly, she died a few days later. To prevent V from losing his will to live, his mother didn't inform her of Jeons's death until he went into remission, one month later.

The overprotective and domineering "helicopter parent" of V, Tae, and Veanne. he tries his hardest to keep her oldest, ill, son alive and well. Jin refuses to accept the idea that V is likely to die, but doing so he ends up neglecting the needs of his two other children, whom he keeps seeing in relation to Kate. Before the novel's end, Jin finally listens to Tae about V and comes to terms with his choice to die, expressing remorse for his behavior.

Age- 41 Love-Namjoon Ex-Lee Ji-eun Children-V, Taehyung,Veanne

The oldest Kim child, who is dyslexic. Throughout most of the novel, he is a delinquent teenager, but, in young adulthood, after coming to terms with her inner emotions, he goes on to become a police officer, and is no longer rebellious, or desperate for attention, as he was in his teen years.

Age-25 Love-None Siblings-V, Taehyung. parents-Kim Seokjin and Kim Namjoon

Jin's husband, who understands Tae's decision to not donate his kidney, but also feels compassion for his wife. He is fond of astronomy and becomes torn between his Children, and his wife, during Tae's emancipation trial. Ultimately, He sides with his wife during his testimony in court, regardless of his conflicting feelings. He also shows concern for his Daughter, and is the one to confront her about his troubling behavior. After Tae's death, he too needs a lot of time to cope with it.

Age- 42 Love-Kim Seokjin Children- V, Taehyung, Veanne

The lawyer who defends Tae as he tries to become medically emancipated from his parents. She believes that he should have control over his own body, and eventually obtains medical power of attorney over him, when the case is successful. She personally uses a service dog, which others find "mysterious", because she does not tell anyone why. It is later uncovered that Ji-eun suffers from epilepsy, and that this diagnosis is the reason he broke up with Jin, as she did not believe he "deserved" an unwell mate, that Jin have to look after.

Age-38 Love-Seokjin Children-None. (Loves Tae as her own)

The court-appointed, guardian ad litem, whose job it is to decide what is best for Tae. He also often advises Anna regarding medical emancipation. He and Tae's lawyer, Ji-eun dated in young adulthood, before he broke her heart.

Age-29 Love-None Children-Adopted (Jk and Jeona)

Kim Taehyung's First love, He woos him and tries very hard and finally succeds.He Didn't Helped Tae in receiving medical emancipation. He wanted to marry him. But, His fate and Tae's destiny didn't let him. At the end he often criticized V for Tae's Death and Helped Veanne Become a police officer.
