Everyday is so safe, so secure, so fulfilling — you don't even need to think about what tomorrow may bring!

With such a life, I'm always pleased and satisfied. Ahh~ what a nice life, indeed.

My eyes shot open as I fell down my bed due to the ringing of phone.

An amazing life? What's that? Is it edible? To hell with it! All my years of living and I've never even gotten close to having the dream life every person on earth wants. Hell, for the past nineteen years of my life, I struggled to even get myself a boyfriend! All because the stupid guy I gave away my first ever confession to traumatized me for life!

Even falling in love has also become a far dream for me.

Almost forgetting about my phone, I hastily searched my room for the one responsible for waking me up.

"Ugh, where is that stupid phone? And who calls someone this early in the morning?!"

Finally finding the phone under my pillow, I answered the call, half-awake.

"Hello--?"

"Min Tai Yang! Where are you?! We can't start the meeting because of you!"

An angry voice yelled out furiously on the other end of the phone. It was my boss, Zhang Shun, screaming about the meeting I forgot today.

... The meeting I forgot today?

I brought my phone out from my ear and frantically swiped to see the time. My heart dropped as the digits ticked upwards like a time bomb. It was currently nearing 10 AM and the meeting was supposed to start around half an hour ago.

Cursing myself for breaking my alarm clock and forgetting to set an alarm on my phone, I immediately dashed out of bed with my boss still on the line.

"How many times must I remind you to come ten minutes early than the scheduled meeting?! No! Rather, you did the opposite and decided to become ten minutes late! Actually, it's been more than ten minutes!"

I wanted to cry from being scolded, but I have to tolerate with it otherwise I'll wake up homeless the next morning.

Brushing my teeth, I tried to sound like I was already on my way to the office, "Uhm, yeah, just-- just start the meeting without me! You know traffic and all! Haha..."

Zhang Shun groaned on the other line, "Well, make the traffic go by quicker! I'll have Feng Xun fill you out on the details when the meeting's over. And expect a scheduled meeting for the two of us on 5."

And there's the schedule for my death.

I sighed, quiet enough so Zhang Shun wouldn't hear me, "Yes, sir..."

"And don't even try to be late!"

With that, Zhang Shun ended the call and I was left with a heavy silence accompanied by the long beep of my phone.

This may be one of the absolute worst ways to start off a day, but I have to get going or Mr Screams-a-lot is gonna give me a hell of a scolding again.

Quickly dressing myself for work, I swiped my bag filled with my everyday necessities and headed out towards the door, remembering to lock my door, of course. Wouldn't want any robbers intruding and seeing how much of a mess my apartment is.

I ran and ran, slowly feeling my soul escape my unathletic body, "In the end, I wasn't able to eat breakfast either," I heaved another heavy sigh.

Every morning is always like this, following the same pattern of being scolded over and over again, and I never seem to get it right. Still though, it's a strange feeling of adrenaline that keeps me going.

I may never achieve the amazing ideal life I've always dreamed of, but I actually enjoy my rather busy life, despite all my complaints. Every morning may always start the same, but after that, every day is a new experience and I get to do so many different things all at once! Honestly, I wished for nothing better.

People may think it's weird and would either call me a workaholic or a masochist, but there is actually a reason behind my way of thinking.

Ever since I was young, I couldn't focus on one activity and always had a very short attention span. My parents had thought I had a disability such as ADD, but they were wrong and in fact, there was nothing wrong with me. They concluded I was simply going through my curious phase and wanted to try everything out as a curious child.

I tried out all sorts of things when I was young.

I burned my hand touching a herb I once saw in the forest to test if it really worked on injuries. Spoiler alert: it was the wrong herb.

Then I tried jumping from a high place to see if I can stay standing when I land. Of course, I didn't and experienced the most pain I could ever have in my legs. For a few days, all I felt was static from the waist below.

One day, when I was a toddler, I collected and picked every flower I saw lying about in the streets, placed them inside my mouth to find out what the yummy-looking, colorful flowers tasted like, and ate them all. I almost poisoned myself had it not been for father who stopped me before I could eat more.

However, I don't blame my curiosity, because it leads to funny stories instead!

As I was caught up reminiscing the times when I was being a stupid kid, I had reached the office and finally had time to catch my damn breath.

Curse my highschool self for skipping out during PE class!

Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy they chose to discuss the statistics I analyzed and even held an official meeting for it, but still! They could have chosen a meeting time at a later hour!

I worked as a financial analyst during the day and a manhwa's assistant at night, and time to time, I get commissioned for other odd jobs such as a herbalist, historian, a voice actor, and more!

Though there was one job I liked the most. My father, being an investigator, sometimes calls me in to assist him in his work as a coroner and do simple autopsies on people no longer alive! I'm not a big fan on the dead people part, but helping out my father is fun.

I've dealt with various tasks and jobs in my past, so I'm already kind of used to this life of being needed and relied on by a lot of people.

With a wide beam on my face, I entered the office premises.
