Stay By My Side

“TaeHyung-ah! It’s time to get going.” SeokJin stood by the door, tapping his foot impatiently in an attempt to distract himself. This would be their first day at a new highschool in a new district. 

TaeHyung came running from his room to Jin. “Alright, I’m ready Hyung,” he said as Jin started to mess with his hair. Jin smiled and they both headed outside. The boys stayed quiet as they walked through a park towards the entrance of the school. TaeHyung finally sighed and turned to his brother, “Hyung, what if we aren’t accepted? We’re both Omegas without a pack so we-.” Jin turned to the male and shushed him. “It will be fine. The packs here are supposedly quite inclusive. Just stay by my side and we will get through it all together.”

Tae smiled and nodded in agreement. They reached the school grounds and could already tell what packs held which status. Tae subconsciously clinged onto Jin’s arm as the different packs started to notice them. Some of the female Betas started fangirling over their looks. Jin couldn’t help but teasingly ask TaeHyung, “So, which girl would you pick?” Tae, who was outwardly gay, rolled his eyes and chuckled while shaking his head. Right when they were about to enter the school’s doors, Jin stops as a smell takes over his senses. Jin froze as his eyes started to water, he didn’t want to find his mate.

Jin quickly swung open the door and ran, dragging a confused TaeHyung, towards the principal’s office. “Hyung, what’s wrong,” Tae asked quietly after they had gotten their schedules and locker numbers. They were walking through the halls towards their homeroom, absorbing the quiet before the storm. “M-my mate is here Tae.” The other squealed but then stopped when he remembered Jin’s fear. He suddenly wished that he could have found his mate first. Unfortunately for him, you were only able to sense your mate once you became 17.

They reached the entrance to their homeroom and lightly knocked on the door. There was laughter and chatting from the other side as the door was opened by the teacher. “Ah, you two must be the new students?” Jin’s eyes were wide as he stared at another student in the far corner of the classroom. Tae noticed what was happening and lightly squeezed his hand as he responded to the teacher, “Yes ma’am. I’m TaeHyung and this is my older brother SeokJin.”

She smiled and waved them in as she went to her desk to fill out their attendance. Jin was a nervous wreck so Tae whispered, “Stay by my side,” while leading the elder into the classroom. Jin slowly calmed from Tae’s words as he realized that, even though Tae was too young to even know who his mate was, that Tae would protect him and watch out for him. 

NamJoon couldn’t help but stare at the male who had just entered. NamJoon could tell that he was nervous and that his brother was the only thing that was keeping him from running. “Alpha,” YoonGi whispered from beside NamJoon, ”is he the one?”

NamJoon rolled his eyes and lightly nudged Yoongi. “Hyung, I told you to speak to me informally.” NamJoon smiled as YoonGi came up with a response. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well when the time comes you’ll become Head Alpha of the Bora Pack. When that happens, I’ll be ranked as your right hand man. I might as well get accustomed to it now.”

NamJoon sighed and turned towards his beautiful Omega who was now introducing himself. “Hello, my name is Kim SeokJin, and I’m 18 years old. This is my little brother, Kim TaeHyung and he’s 16.” NamJoon was entranced by Jin’s voice and found himself feeling protective over him as some of the other wolves started fangirling/fanboying,

YoonGi chuckled, “Young Alpha, how is it you’re already whipped for him?” NamJoon glared at Yoongi and then smiled at SeokJin and TaeHyung who were walking to their new seats a few rows in front of them. TaeHyung smiled back while Jin blushed and quickly moved to his seat.

“That’s adorable,” NamJoon said while observing how the two brothers interacted. “So, how long will you wait until you court him?” NamJoon was not surprised that YoonGi would ask such a question. He wasn’t the type of person to let the ones he loves stay away for too long. “I want to get to know him first. I can tell he’s stressed so I won’t try to rush or push him. He’s different and I don’t want to hurt him. I don’t want to rush him. I want to become his friend and I want him to loosen up more around me so that we can both feel comfortable.”

YoonGi smiles and patted NamJoon’s back. He knew that this was why NamJoon was the most respected Alpha at this school. He was fair and extremely caring. He took care of everyone and could read people better than those people could read or understand themselves. “You’re a good person, NamJoon-ah. You’re a good person.”

The first hour and study hour passed with no difficulties or interactions. Jin didn’t mind this but he did feel disappointed that his mate, NamJoon, didn’t even attempt to flirt or even talk to him. He had severe Philophobia but he still felt the desire to love and be loved by him.

TaeHyung and Jin were heading to gym class for rec time. When walking into the gym, they saw that some kids had already started a basketball game and some of the others were simply laughing, playing, and racing around the gym. YoonGi, who Jin recognized as the male who always hung out with NamJoon, waved them over to where they were playing one on one. NamJoon took advantage of YoonGi’s distraction and dunked.

Tae smiled and dragged Jin with him towards the two. “Hi. I’m YoonGi, Min YoonGi and this is my friend Kim NamJoon.” NamJoon joined the three, giving Jin a smile that Jin felt should’ve been illegal. Jin looked away shyly while Tae greeted them in return.

“How are you two enjoying the school so far?” YoonGi asked as they headed towards the bleachers. Tae smiled and started ranting about every little detail he’d enjoyed about the school, so far. YoonGi was shocked by Tae’s rant and after a while Jin gained back his older brother energy, finding it in him to scold the younger. “Ya! You keep talking and your mouth will fall off and start rolling on the ground! You’re starting to talk so fast, you sound like a ticking time bomb getting faster every second!! TAKE A BREATHE DUDE YOU CAN’T DIE ON THE FIRST DAY YOU DARK HAIRED PABO ALIEN WHO SHOULDN’T HAVE JOINED SPEECH AND DEBATE!!!!”

Tae, YoonGi, and NamJoon were completely shocked by the outburst and were silent without showing any reactions. Jin then began to worry about how NamJoon would react and if NamJoon would hate or be mad at him. NamJoon then started laughing, dimples completely on display. Jin looked at him in surprise, only to see NamJoon looking back at him with the most loving expression he’d ever seen.

Jin blushed as NamJoon pet his hair, neither his smile nor his loving expression ever leaving his face. “Hey Jin, can we be friends? I know it’s totally abrupt but it’d be nice to have some entertainment and ACTUAL positivity that I can’t get from YoonGi.” Jin’s eyes widened in surprise. What mate would ask to be FRIENDS with their partner? “Friends?” NamJoon nodded and Jin agreed to the idea while Tae cheered and pulled Jin, NamJoon, and YoonGi into a group hug. Jin smiled at the fact that they were friends, but he still was curious of one more thing. Did NamJoon REALLY want to be friends? Just friends? Could anything between them grow while they were friends?

Hoseok was stalking around the woods when he heard light singing. Not being one to meet others, he truly was confused on why his paws were leading him towards the voice. As he got closer, he could see a boy singing while petting a baby rabbit. His eyes widened as the male’s scent became noticeable. Hoseok slowed moving closer to the male. This boy was his mate, HIS mate.

The boy must have smelt Hoseok as well because he abruptly stopped singing. Hoseok came closer to the Omega as he slowly turned to look at Hoseok in return. He whimpered and Hoseok stopped a few feet in front of him. “H-hi.” The Omega stayed still and cut off all facial expressions, though his eyes mirrored them all. 

Hoseok turned into his human form and went to sit right in front of the boy. “What’s your name, pup?” The boy blushed while glancing away, “My name is Jimin..Park Jimin.” Hoseok smiled, lightly stroking Jimin’s cheek, “Nice to finally meet you. My name is Hoseok. Pretty. I’m not a part of any particular pack or anything. Cute. I’ve always been a lone wolf. I’m sorry but am I dead? Are you an angel or something? Is this some kind of messed up dream? There is no way you’re real!!”

Jimin giggled, the most beautiful sound Hoseok had ever heard. “Last time I checked I was real so...yeah.” Hoseok smiled and moved to pet the baby rabbit as well. “What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be at a safer place? Where you’re not an easy target?” Jimin looked down, feeling flustered. “I-I umm… I ran away from my pack. They..don’t treat us Omegas right..” 

Hoseok stayed silent and pulled the boy into a hug. “A-Alpha? Alpha..?” 

“Finally,” Taehyung exclaimed as the four boys left the school. “We’re free~~ Hyung, let’s go home! I’m so~ tired~. Let’s get get get it!” Yoongi, Namjoon, and Jin laughed as Taehyung continued to run in circles while cheering like crazy.

“Yoongi Hyung? Is that you,” a voice called out from behind the group. They all turned to see a male walking towards them with a bunny-like smile. “Oh, Jungkook-ah, long time no see. How have you been?” The boy, Jungkook, hugged Yoongi and then bowed to the others. “I’ve been okay, I spend most of my time in the library to hide from everyone,” he then turns to Namjoon, Jin, and Taehyung. “Nice to meet you, I’m Jungkook, Jeon Jungkook.” The others bowed back and then Namjoon held out his hand in greeting, “Namjoon, Kim Namjoon. From the Bora Pack.” Jungkook shook his hand, “I’ve heard of you. You’re the most respected of all the alphas here. I want to be just like you some day!”

Yoongi laughed, receiving a glare from Jungkook, who then turned to the Omega brothers. “I’m Seokjin, Kim Seokjin and this is my little brother Taehyung. We.. um, we don’t have a pack..but yeah. Nice to meet you.” They each bowed and then Jungkook ran off to who knows where.

“You guys aren’t from any particular pack,” Namjoon asked, confused. “We-we should get going,” Jin said as he grabbed Taehyung’s arm and started dragging him away. “Wait, SeokJin… SeokJin! Jin stop...JIN!” Yoongi’s eyes widened in surprise as he had never heard Namjoon use his Alpha voice in a long time. What he wanted to say was clearly important.

Jin froze and Taehyung moved out of his grip. “Jin, I’m sorry to use my Alpha voice on you but I need answers. I just want to make sure that you both are safe and are being protected in some way, shape, or form." Namjoon moved in front of Jin, who kept his head down.

“Jin,” Namjoon lightly said while lifting Jin’s chin up. “I care about you and I want to keep you protected so please do not try to hide things from me.” Jin shyly pulled away and looked at Taehyung. Tae, who stood behind Namjoon, started making kissy faces to tease him. “YA YOU-,” Jin yelled, only to be interrupted by Namjoon. “Jin, do you or do you not have a pack?”

Jin looked down, clearly feeling defeated. “We don’t have a pack.”

“Do you have a home?” Namjoon frowned while looking at Jin worriedly.

Jin nodded, “Yes, I got us a nice little home… It’s not much but it has all the necessities.”

Namjoon sighed and turned to Yoongi who nodded in return. “Let us walk you home,” Namjoon said while moving some of Jin’s hair out of his eyes, causing Jin to blush. “Th-There’s no need… I- We’ll be fine, Alpha.” Tae’s eyes widened in surprise while Yoongi simply pulled out his phone to text someone.

Something seemed to click in Jin’s mind as he immediately started apologizing profusely. You see, when a mate calls their mate by their class, it’s known as a sign of submission/dominance. Because Jin called Namjoon by his rank, Alpha, Namjoon now couldn’t help but feel a stronger connection to Jin. Namjoon’s inner wolf took control and he pulled Jin closer, their bodies touching.

Jin turned bright red as Namjoon growled, lowly. Jin felt himself sinking into Namjoon’s hold. After some time Namjoon pulled away, “sorry, I just… sorry. Ugh, I didn’t want to make any moves on you until we got more comfortable with each other.”

Jin stayed quiet and bit his lip while staring at his shoes. He’d be lying if he was to say that he didn’t like Namjoon’s possessiveness. He felt safe in Namjoon’s arms. “Le-let’s go, Tae. They’ll have to also head all the way back to their pack after they drop us off.”

Namjoon looked at Jin in shock. “You... we don’t have to come with you if that makes you feel uncomfortable.” Jin shyly smiled at Namjoon and started walking with Tae towards their house.

“Hyung,” Tae whispered, “Do you think we have a pack now?” Jin thought for a second before responding. “I think it’s the beginning of one.” Tae frowned, “Of what? Of a pack?” Jin simply glanced behind him to see Yoongi and Namjoon trailing behind them.
