Episode 1
"London, get married, please. It will help the company, so just go on the blind date." My father says. The never-ending badgering and whining of his voice is the alarm I wake up to every morning. My father never seems satisfied with me; he always wishes I get married. Just in case he dies from his chronic disease; because he is scared that there will be no one to take care of his dear daughter.
" Dad, I am fine; my bookstore business is doing really well, and I do not need a man to take care of me. I'm fine, so can I not go?" I respond. " Fine," he says. I hurriedly get ready and head out to the bookstore. " Bye Dad," I say as I rush. Thud! " Are you ok?" I said. I looked down, and I realized I had hit an old man. He rose up as I picked up his duffle bag. It was a bit abnormally heavy for an old man.
"What's in the bag?" I asked. He dawdled with his response. Then he said. " Nothing much, just some books I'm dropping at a bookstore called..." " Ahh! right it's called London's House of Heavens." He said with uncertainty. " I own that shop, so we can head together then," I say. We enter the shop and head to the counter. " What books would you like to give," I asked. " Just some old classics I have had for a while now and a proposal," He says in his sudden tantalizing voice, grasping my interest. " A deal?" I say. " More of a proposal than a deal," He implies. " What is that you propose?" " It now seems that what's in the bag is not just books," I say.
"I would like to ask you to arouse my grandson's interest in love and ask for a contractual relationship or real relationship depending on your interests." He says. "First, I would like to know who may I be speaking to, stating such a scattershot proposal," I say in astonishment. He pauses and says." Is that necessary? He is wealthy and powerful and can help you in your business." " Did you just say not necessary? It is my life and choice whether I agree. Just who do you think you are?" I said.
He hesitated to respond seeing the anger on my face. " Sorry, I just really worried about him. Kindly accept my apology" He says. I calmed down and responded. " Then would you at least tell me who is this grandson of yours I am supposed to marry," I said? " I will tell you only after you agree, just think of it," he says as he heads to sit down on the old maroon couch in the corner. I wondered how one would be so restive to marry off their grandson. Even more than my own father. But this could be a chance for me to stop my father's never-ending perturbed thought? I walked up to him and said. " I kindly will ..."
What do you think she will say? Would you agree to the proposal?
