A Glimpse Of Hopes

Her Treasured Secrets

The mask of fakeness.

It's the mask of decoys that some wear to obscured their genuine feelings and emotions, either bad or good for numerous unearthed purposes. Some may succeed in bluffing but some may not. They forced a chain onto the substantial self to retain the vulnerable and poor sides stays concealed as the society despises the actual me but admire the fake me or so.

The longer it was suppressed, the more erratic they were. Gradually, they would only plunge deep and deep without a way out from the maze of none honesty. Despite that, it's the mask that some wears that weary them out... every day...

.........

Long glossy and wavy golden-like hair. Perfectly formed neat eyebrows. Large round light blue eyes with lengthy natural lashes. Sharp straight-edged nose bridge. Rosy red cherry elegantly shaped lips. Flawless smooth face structure. Grand delicate snow-white skin.

Those traits she acquired since youth fascinated all of the other people that were present on that day. A sole glanced captivated and mesmerised people that they were weak to the knee.

The International Prestigious High School of Prodigies--------- the international high school for the diverse prodigies or simply, the gifted youth also students from the elite family in Japan. Regardless, it's been a span since they opened up the school for various students regardless of their background and cultures. Most of the students either speak in Japanese or English as half of the students' nations were either Japanese and Westerners.

As soon as her speech ended, she ambled elegantly from the stage with the crowd's applause assorted with pleased cheers. Unfortunately, no one's noticed what the angelic smile hid beneath her killer smile.

After she headed down from the stage where no one was there, her breath was rapidly intensifying and her heart was sprinting like crazy. Both her tiny hands and small face were sweating cold bitterly as her worlds were swirling like a disco ball on wild dusk.

“P-Pills...” Her trembling hands struggled to open up her pouches that were packed with medications but unluckily, her staggered paces slowly drooped, blackouts before she was able to take her pills. The medications dispersed onto the ground along with the pouches. Yet, someone fetched her and got held of her before her body managed to attain the floor that would unquestionably result in surplus harm to her.

“Hey....” No response he obtained from her that brought his sanity back. He was nevertheless stunned when she plunged so abruptly. Her light physique made him effortlessly picked her up and carried her to the infirmary room.

He positioned her on one of the bed at the infirmary room which was relatively vast compared to others. The nurse was alarmed upon seeing the one who keeled over but she hastily examined on her and dealt with it forthwith.

“Poor little kid. She regularly suffers from the panic attack and that specific someone doesn't even bother to care...Ah, I almost forgot about you...Well, are you her friends, student Arden Asher?” The nurse raised a question but something was erroneous there. It's not their familiar nurse but somebody who was easily recognisable to the cybercrime.

“...No. Would you excuse me, miss not-so-nurse?” He asserted in a polite manner, strived not to offend her in any conceivable aspect but distinct from what he would visualize to obtain, a burst of subtle laughter.

“Haha...Of course. See you.” She let out. That's way too straightforward and promptly. Indisputably, precisely as he told, she was apparently not the nurse in charge of their school but only someone who will be freelancing as a momentary nurse for a while.

Arden simply left the room after conveyed the agreement too.

“Hah~ What a smart kid. I'm beaten... My dearest niece, why are you forcing yourself too much? It pains me seeing you suffer, though I'm merely your young aunt...” She was the prominent head researcher of her own lab research also a big science institute who was perceived as a spectacle who divulged cures to ailment whose name was Alicia Victoria Abigail, Evangelyn's close aunt. Despite having the myriad successes and being an aunt, she was still basking her youth as her age recently reached twenty-four years old.

Arden set in motion heretofore to the niche to pick up all of the scattered medications of Evangelyn's as speculated the quirks prior ago. They were classmates and it's not that tough to recognize her as she was crowned as the ideal queen and flawless beauty at their school who exceeded in her studies and never failed to impress with her abilities.

He identified each of the medications, he's not aiming to be a busy body but this proportion of pills were too plenty for an individual. What was she suffering from?

“Arden!!” A voice yelled for him that make him hidden the pouches, not discerned just why he did that. It's Oliver Spencer, one of the overly enthusiastic guy and likewise, his close friend.

“Where did you go to? We better hurry up. The P.E is starting.” He grabbed his hands, coerced him to simply pursued his step to their gymnasium. He's kind of pulled like a brown teddy bear by a tiny youngster.

The boys were playing basketball as some girls were either applauding on them or practising netball. It's up to them to match or not.

About that, he has never seen Evangelyn played any sports except for which she even infrequently performed recently. Was it because of her illness?

*bump *

The ball hit him hard who was already not eager in playing and were in his own world, assuming a lot.

“Arden!! Are you alright?! You had a nosebleed!” Oliver exaggerated though that it's honestly was not that critical.

“I'm sorry but I will go to the infirmary for a while.”

“Need any help?” Someone stood by his right, Louise Edward whose eyes sparkled as if an idea just

popped through the door to his mind on how to avert playing the basketball. It's indeed their freedom to attain anything but a specific someone just wouldn't tolerate him to lounge peacefully.

“No need. Enjoy your game.” That excuse put out the lights in his eyes as he surely aimed to quit playing before his collar was grabbed by the back with that pitiful puppy eyes as Arden simply stared at his pitiable pal as he was joining the game ‘willingly’.

Arden rinsed and cleaned the blood initially but it hardly ceased and he eventually concluded to visit the infirmary again. Frankly, it's just an explanation to went there as he has to return the pouches ample medications back to her.

“You're here again, student Arden. Need anything?” Alicia inquired unprecedented caught sights of him there twice in a row.

“Do you have something to stop this blood?” He implied on his bloody nose.

“Oh... That's bad... Take this.” She passed him a gauze pad and also a few cotton bud.

“Thanks. Could you hand this to her? I'm going back first.” He seated the pouches on the table.

“No way, young man. You need to have a proper rest after cleaning your blood.” She demanded a bed to rest with a plotted agenda in her senses that one could never surmise.

“Then...I'll take a rest just a little.” He conceded after all as he was sort of exhausted and more to that he refused to go back to the court.

“Be my guest.”

“...what time is it...” Evangelyn arose after a slumber or apparently, after passing out that she herself knew the better of it.

“Ah...I fainted again, didn't I?” She glimmered depressingly which honestly weakened her.

She picked up one of the green leaves from the trees beside the opened window that enabled the unpermitted leaves too. The leaves were strewed into the room but her sanity was concentrating on another aspect. She delicately tuned a soft and gentle melody that was agile sorta like a lullaby for an infant.

Her whistle was consecutive until her ears hitched another leaf whistling tone who corresponded to her tempo and harmonically exploited concurrently with her which composed a delightful and a rhythmic hymn on her and that unidentified self who appeared to be on the bed beside her. What a marvellous tune... it's like the natures graciousness and the waterfalls gently draping the noise which centralized and generated nature green essences!

Gradually, the hymn ended and they both slumped the leaf. Her inquisitiveness peaked up elevated like a Mount Everest but tragically, the you-know-who evacuated the infirmary, not allotted her the opportunity to properly seized a peeked of his countenance or to the least, learned his name.

Later on, she reached to her classroom which had people ambushed her with fractions of questions. Lily Margaret who skillfully caught a glimpse of her dashed and hugged her with a sigh of relief reasoned that she might be abducted by an alien which would never occur, obviously.

“I miss Evy so much,” Lily mumbled that had Eva grinned finding it more.

“Evangelyn Elora. On which planet did you vanish to?! Did you know how long have we been searching for you but were never to track any of your traces?! I'm going crazy that I almost go with Lily's thoughts which you might be abducted by the alien, which alien never ever happen!” The beautiful both on the inside and outside truest friends who went by the name Thea Cassandra Lorraine had been by her side since their adolescence which even strengthened it up till now.

“Hehe...My bad. I fall asleep near the trees.” She proclaimed, well, technically, she wasn't fabricating at all as the infirmary truly was placed beside an enormous tree which she also utilized its leaves to whistle with earlier.

“We will be switching our seats today. I'm so excited but also anxious.” Thea expressed with her countenance remain unchanged, literally, was that what you called excited and anxious?

“One quest. Where is Kathy?” Evangelyn interrogated after contemplated their classroom for the forty-five times, surveyed for that one person who constantly absent like a ghost went awol.

“You know how she is....” Thea muttered before proceeding...

“....always skipping.” They said jointly then giggled at the verge.

***

Her seat was relative to the left of the class and was near to the window side that had the scenery of their track fields. By her right side was Thea's seat while Lily's seat was parked behind her as Kathy's by Lily's right side.

Nonetheless, there's a guy who was positively prominent in their school, Arden Asher who she kept wrangling within their academics score. He's got an exquisite promising background and a good looking face which girl either inside or the outside of their school was crazy for. Though, he retained rejecting every love confessions with that icy cold tones and he also not the loquacious talker type.

It's already the verge of the class and most of the students were headed back home except for those who went to cram school or were associated with extracurricular activities such as a club or organisations.

The four friends reunited likewise when their friend whose hobbies was skipping class, Kathleen Hailey huddled them when their class ended.

“Eva, are you going home already? Don't you want to spend time at the cafe with us?” Kathleen inquired with Thea's furrowed eyebrows that let out, ‘when did we agree on that’.

“Mmm...I'm sorry but I've got something to do. See you tomorrow, alright?” Evangelyn shoved her petitions away as she had another urgent stuff needed to be accomplished. She stepped into their family car, which was droved by their chauffeur in front of the gate.

“Sure. See you.” Thea responded as she waved back to her.

“Later, Eva!” Kathleen said.

“I'm going to miss you again, Evy,” Lily uttered which the phrases that she invariably repeated unusually. The four of them commonly strolled around their towns or go to the cafe to spend time together to kill times before going back home.

“I'm just going back home, Lily. I'll miss you too.” Eva chuckled. She entered the car with another girl sat inside the car by the side seat in the front, her personal assistant who similarly lived together with her. Both are the same age startlingly and they went to the same school together to keep track of Evangelyn's safety.

“Maeve, the hospital please.” Eva notified Maeve who's full name was Maeve Seraphine. Her personal assistant who was kinda like a personal attendant and guards.

“Yes, Young Miss,” Maeve replied before expected the chauffeur to alter their destination and departed to the hospital which they perpetually went to.

Upon arriving, she didn't hesitate as it wasn't her prime moment being there and went consecutively ahead to the doctor who was monitoring over her ailment and furthermore doctored her. They already had an appointment booked with her that it's fine to simply go upright to the doctor. Besides, it's a private hospital that its safety was a hundred per cent guaranteed.

“Doc. Misaki, I'm here for my monthly check-up. I'm also out of my medication.” Evangelyn greeted her before beginning their dialogue, not postponing the procedure any longer.

“Welcome, Miss Evangelyn. Shall we start the check-up, dear?” The middle-aged doctor who was in her white robes inquired of her conclusion. She had been lasting for her important patient and already prepared everything they required.

“...yes...” She retorted.

A Lifeless Doll

***

“Dear, please reconsider your activities as it might cause harm to your body. Dear, I really suggest you visit a psychiatrist to treat your anxiety. Here is your prescription.” Doctor Misaki cautioned, asserted all the distinct advise she had warned her with a prescription of the medications in her hand.

“Thank you, Doc. Misaki.” She resolved, with a feeble smile.

“It's my pleasure, dear. I consider you as mine, so please take care of yourself, hmmm?” She inquired before Eva leave the room in a depleted and dispirited way.

“Yes.”

“Let's go, Maeve.” Evangelyn asserted blankly and had Maeve attended her very step from behind. She accidentally bumped into somebody and shortly slumped onto the floor but were caught by the guy who she bumped into.

Although they didn't truly bump that hard that would impel her to swoop wholly Eva was as blank as a white paper with her unlively eyes compatible to that of a doll. Her brain function was switched off that made her reacted to frivolity. She was in shock and that slammed literally shut down her sanity.

“Young Miss!” She scrambled and instantly snatched her from his hands and assisted her up.

“I apologised, sure and also thank you. How can I compensate for you?” She proclaimed, handled her mistress with one hand as another one was searching for her earpiece to reach for her team as a report.

“Code 108. I will bring her by myself.” Maeve muttered.

“It's fine.” Arden countered, was voided out from the circumstance that ensued so unaware in front of him which couldn't be observed in daily life.

“I really appreciate your kindness, sir. Please excused us...” She retreated and gently supported to hold her. Eva wasn't asleep yet, she was functionless and didn't even move a muscle. His eyes just pursued the two leaving, spaced out before a light tapped on his shoulder brought him back.

“Master? What happened?” His assistant asked after achieving the room number that he asked for.

“Its...nothing. Which room is he in?” He concentrated back to his own crisis with Eva fused inside his head.

“1068.” He sauntered away in search of the room, embarked to unravelled that remarkable clash.

Evangelyn was seated on her seat. Affirmatively, she didn't keel over or something, it's just that her mind vetoed to do nothing, tolerated herself go alike a living corpse. Doctor Misaki's statements were regardless circulated her sanities, their spectacle ahead was reiterated innumerable time without fail...

“Your health might worsen if you don't do the surgery, my dear miss. As you could see, the symptoms worsen this time and you even had to be on medications more regularly.” Doctor Misaki clarified, persuaded her to have the surgery in order to cure her disease which was awfully dangerous and life-threatening if it's not treated forthwith.

“I'm sorry, doc. I wanted to but... just give me some more times.” She pleaded, nearly begged her with blubbered eyes.

“I understand your circumstances, dear but your health should be prioritised or I can no longer guarantee how long will you hold on without the surgery.” She rationalized her motives as surviving would be a huge challenge without surgery.

“Thank you, doc. I will.” Eva smirked bitterly that struck her heart with the sorrow of how such a young girl had to go through in such a young age.

“I'm concerned about you, you see and I will always be here if you need anything.” She proposed her supports as there was nothing else she could provide her with except for encouragement and assistance.

“Yes, I know.” The discussion in her mind terminated when her room's door was knocked three times before Maeve entered with a tray of meals into her bedroom.

“Young Miss, your dinner.” Maeve indicated, displayed her the dishes on the tray which were composed by their family great chef.

“No, I'm full. I'll take the medications now.” She mumbled which acquired a troubled expression from her assistant who hardly had a dissimilar facial expression.

“But...Young Miss, it's unhealthy to take the pills with an empty stomach.” Maeve began to encouraged her to consume as she reminisced, her young miss hasn't touched anything today except for a glass of water. Even her weights were declining pronto in this period of time. She was severely underweight according to her B.M.I. or Body Mass Index.

“Its fine, Dianne. Please, the pills.” She pleaded that Maeve wasn't able to oppose her wishes and presumed to scarcely go with her as she wasn't the type to be intimidated and also successfully able to ascertained others to not.

“Here...” She handed her a glass of water with a few tablets to be taken daily before leaving with the tray full of dishes with her and came across Eva's younger sister and brother who came to check on their beloved big sister who was fastened on the bed after a tiring day. She became unstable and weaker after duration.

She shortly takes the pills in one gulp. It no longer tastes bitter as she already adopted to it that it tasted of nothing anymore.

“Sister... aren't you eating dinner again?” The second-born child into the house, Eleanor Florence, her younger sister that cherished her sister the most.

“Lea... did you eat your dinner?” Eva asked rather than countered to her sister's apprehension.

Eleanor had long realised of when she was coming into her elder sister's room, refereeing from how her tray wasn't even touched, she evidently didn't eat anything onetime similarly but that lovely smile permanently dwelled on her lips.

“I already did. Why aren't you, sister?” She asked, no connotation in lying low it if it was her sister she was conversing about as she would struggle her best to satisfy everyone's desires and hide her flaws to not make others fretted over her.

“I'm too full. Don't worry about me. What about Artie, Lea?” Evangelyn was quick to shift their emphasis before a boy popped out of nowhere into her room.

“Sister, I've already eaten with Lea earlier.” Artie or his factual name, Arthur Clarence, the youngest out of them but his witts firmly surpassed his ages. Nevertheless, he disliked learning the most and excelled in sports instead.

“That's good. Rest well and early, okay? I'm going to doze off now.” Eva forgoes to span their dialogue as expected to avert replied to any of that concerned thoughts.

“You too, sister.” They said before departed with her sisters that we're struggling to sleep despite being unable to sleep.

***

“Young Miss, we're here,” Maeve said, notified her who was profound in notion early in the morning. For a particular justification, they were going to school more ahead of time than they regularly did which were a first time experience for her.

“Are we? Too early in the morning, aren't we?” She inquired, scanned the weather and the gloomy surrounding which was slightly murky into the dawn.

“Yes, Miss. Would you like me to accompany you and go to the class together? It's still concerning me...” Maeve said, consulted with that poker face as ever. It's not that she was indifferent towards her, but it's just her facial expression which remarkably, seldomly transitioned.

“It's fine. I can go there by myself. See you later, Maeve.” She told before parted ways with her to their class. Practically, they were in the equivalent class but Maeve would be touring the library first to fetch the books she lacked.

“As you wish, miss...” Her words attained with a superficial bow as a loyalty indication.

‘A little eerie... just a little eerie, that's all...’ Evangelyn thought that had he clenching her hands

She went through the corridor to the school which required a student identification card to enter. The corridor was upright after the gates and also full of boards of information. She handily swapped her card and it opened automatically. A guard who was on duty greeted her and she performs the dual thing before changing her shoes to resume heading to her classroom. She opened up her locker which was equipped with a fingerprints lock and collected some books for her class. For their students, there were two lockers for each person, one besides the shoe slot and the other one in their classroom.

The stone path was leading to four varied paths which are to the official compartment quarters, to the energy restoring quarters, the mind source quarters and lastly, to the classroom quarters.

The Official Compartment Quarters ------- The principal's office, the instructor's office, meeting room, clubs room and the assembly hall were all in this quarters. In order to go to one of these rooms, ones needed to take the first stone path which would lead to these quarters.

The Energy Restoring Quarters -------- The cafeteria and the co-operative store were for students to replenished their energy particularly at lunchtime wherever it was flooded with students as they sold various type of foods there.

The Mind Source Quarters ---------- The library, art rooms, laboratory rooms, computer labs, theatre, auditorium and the courtroom. The area where students will be wielding the knowledge and moreover performing projects.

The Classroom Quarters ---------- The total of blocks were three for each year each blocker connected to each other to make touring to another year much susceptible. Furthermore, their school fields which also equipped with the track fields were behind the three blocks.

She took the fourth path to went to her classroom in an instant as Maeve took the Mind Source Quarters to go to the library that was opened relatively timely.

The library will only open it's the door when the student's ID card was swiped. It's kind of like a credit card. They also include a mini cafe inside the library where the students were eligible to munch something light while reading or discussing. There were three sections in a total of the library. The discussing sections where you could discuss the projects with friends. The total reading sections where you solely read there quietly and evade any noise. The last one was the librarian sections where there is the head counter, the librarian room and also the mini cafe.

Usually, their cafeteria would be opened early in the morning similarly in case there would be some students who went early to school with an empty stomach.

She walked to her classroom with the student ID card likewise to unlock the classroom and the lights automatically opened accorded to it's current time when someone entered the room and would shut back when there was no one in the class. Their school had a high-security alert, totally living up to its name. She placed her bag near her seats before strolled around. The class were quite pristine and was vibrant.

In any case, their student ID card was really essential as one who forfeited it had to redo it again which might take time and they had to pay for a penalty fee. Also, in most place at their school, a student ID card was mostly used to enter the room and unlock something. It's for the reason that safety was their main priority.

It's rather unsavoury and strange loitering alone in a classroom early in the morning. Evangelyn determined to go out for some fresh air and also vacating this treacherous room but there were footsteps that were gradually approaching that delivered her goosebumps all over.

It's become closer and closer and she eventually concluded to go out first from the room despite the sounds, simply assumed that she was hallucinating from the spooks and went out if the room with a brave face on but a fragile heart that was thumping like they were racing to the moon.
