"Why would you be depress you're in a well-off family, you always smile, you're smart and you always get what you want? Aren't you satisfied?"

These are the questions that I always here, everytime I tell someone I'm suffering from the sickness called depression.

I thought that people would understand and embrace me despite this illness yet I was wrong. Then, I decided to force a smile on my face and just dance my way through this life. Not really living but surviving.

It was hard going through all the events of the day, smiling and pretending that I'm in joy.

Well, surviving this cruel world isn't bad when you have someone on your side and for that's my best friend, Jake Lim, we we're friend since childhood. We grew up together and played together.

With Jake I feel safe and secured. He was my comfort zone. And my shoulder to cry on.

It was 6:00am in the morning when I heard, a familiar voice calling my name, "Zephanie So, wake up sleepyhead!"

As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw an image of a man bending towards me shaking my shoulders to wake up. He had beautiful blue eyes with a fine clear skin, it was no other than my best friend Jake Lim.

Yup, it was the day that we're finally stepping in to the next chapter of our lives. We both studied the same major in engineering, although both our parents are businessmen they allowed us to take the majors that we wanted before proceeding to the corporate world.

"Hey Jake, do you think we'll survive on our own. You know, new environment and new people?"

"Come on, Fann. We're not kids anymore. You know we'll survive this stage and besides you have me. Stop being so anxious."

Somehow, those short words gave warmth to my cold heart. Jake always knows what to say. His words we're always a comfort to me. Not a second long, I found myself smiling at him as he pinches my cheeks.

"Okay, let me get ready first. Thanks Jake. I could always count on you."

I stood up went straight to the bathroom and took a shower. Still anxious of what life would throw at me but despite all that hearing Jake's comforting words made me feel at ease.

" Mom, we're leaving now. I'll miss you so much."

" Oh honey, don't be sad. I'll visit you and Jake from time to time. Okay?"

I could see the sadness in my mother's eyes as her only daughter would finally be leaving the family's premises.

My mom knew how much I suffered with this illness and she exactly knew how to calm me down whenever I get anxiety attacks. She was always there for me despite her busy schedule.

She's my wonder woman, a person whi could balance her mother duties and businesswoman life. Isn't my mom amazing?!

As Jake and I, said our goodbyes to our moms. I couldn't help myself but shed tears as I embraced my mom for the last time.

"Don't worry aunty, I'll take good care of Fann-Fann for you," said Jake.

" I know you will dear," my mom replied with a sweet smile on her face.

"Don't ever bully little Fanny, you naughty boy," said Jake's mom jokingly.

" He wouldn't dare, aunty." I replied with my feeling-like-a-mean-chick look. And we laughed for a while.

" We better leave now guys, see you soon" said Jake.

" Bye mom, I love you." I said with another last embrace.

Well, it was time to face another journey of life. As I stepped closer to the car, Jake held my hand and smiled at me. A smile that said, don't worry we'll do everything together I'll always be with you. He held my hand so tight that in a short moment my worries in going to college finally eradicated.
