Prolog
I was covered in sweat when I opened my eyes
The last thing I could remember was a shining light coming at me and squeezing sounds of wheels
Disturbed I looked around, finding myself in a bright room with old fashioned furniture
I could feel a throbbing pain coming from my head
What was going on? I should have been dead, so what is all this?
A sharp pain suddenly spread inside my head. Almost making me blind of my surroundings.
All at once pictures and voices filled up my head that clearly weren't my own.
With a loud bang the door to the room opened.
Serena
My Lady! 😟
Are you alright? I could hear you scream, should I call a doctor?!
Confused I looked at the girl standing before me.
Arabella
No... Serena, it's alright.
Confused about my own words and how I knew her name I covered my mouth in surprise
Serena
Are you sure, my Lady? Do you need anything? 😥
Arabella
No.. It's okay, you may leave now. I will call you if I need something.
Why could I talk to this girl so casually? I didn't even know her, or did I? Wasn't she...my personal maid?
Serena bowed and then left the room shutting the door quietly behind her.
Now in the quiet room again I could slowly order my thoughts
Those pictures and voices which just filled my head seemed to be memorys from another person.
In search of a mirror I stood up and walked to a large mirror standing on the left side of my bed.
With a puzzled look I eyed the person staring back at me through it.
This was definitely not my face nor body. It was a completely different person!
Frantically searching through the newly received memories, a name slowly formed itself.
This was now my new name...
That's when I finally realized,
I had reincarnated!
What I didn't know till then was, I reincarnated into a novel, a novel I once started to read, but didn't really get too far into the story.
Which would lead to my future downfall..
Chapter 1
It's been a week since I awoke as Arabella Willow.
I'm slowly getting used to my new life, even though all the etiquette are still hard to follow.
Arabella Willow is an earls daughter and lives a pretty good life.

I was worried when I heard you weren't doing so well. 😟
Lexia was a dear friend of Arabella, who had known each other since childhood.
We were sitting in the greenhouse and drank tea.

Shocked about the thing I just heard, I went through all the memories of my past life.
Faintly I could remember a novel I once started to read, with an empire being led by a family called Vespertine, wich the male lead belonged to, and a Saintess called Camilla Kuang - the female lead.
With a shock realizing I had immigrated into a novel I never finished reading, I got a bad headache.
Lexia
Arabella! Are you okay?! 😟
Arabella
Ah, it's okay, you don't need to worry, I just got a headache. 😅
Lexia
*concerned* Do you want me to call your maid or a doctor?
Arabella
No..no, it will be fine in a bit.
Why did it have to be a novel I never really read?!
Couldn't it have been one of all the other novels, where I could nearly recall every single word?
I didn't know anything about the original plot of it, the only thing I could remember were some of the characters in it.
This was really bad. Without knowing anything about it, what was I good for after all?
I tried ordering my thoughts. The novel started in the year 465 of this empire, so we still had three more years to go.
Good, I knew about the main characters, and I also knew, as far as I read, there wasn't a single mentioning of an earls daughter called Arabella.
So, I will just stay away from the main characters as far as possible, to avoid trouble!
With shining eyes, I turned my attention back to Lexia.

Is your headache doing better now?
Arabella
Yes, don't worry, it's already gone.
Lexia
Anyway, I wanted to ask, if you would like to go to the opera with me this Friday?
Arabella
Sure, I would love to! 😊
Lexia
Great, then I will see you in four days!
Lexia
I still have something to do in the capital, so I will take my leave.
With that we said goodbye to each other.
Chapter 2
I was getting ready to head out to the opera.
Arabella
Serena, could you please fetch me the new dress, I recently bought?

Rushing to the wardrobe she brought back a beautiful dress
After I changed into it, Serena and I went down to the carriage, that already waited in front of the house.
The opera was only half an hour by carriage from the mansion.
The evening air was a bit chilly but because Lexia already awaited me, we could head straight in.
The opera house was a large building in the center of the capital, which was also used for auctions.
Lexia and I set down in the vip lounge reserved for us.
Lexia
That was great, wasn't it?
Arabella
Yes, it was indeed terrific to listen to.
Lexia
*cheerful* I think I liked the second artist the most, her love songs just grabbed ahold of me.

Anyway, I had a great evening, we should do this more often, don't you agree?
Arabella
Yes, we definitely should!
And with that we wished us a safe ride home and went in different directions.
My carriage hadn't arrived yet, so I took a little stroll.
I guess it had to be past 10pm and the streetlights shone bright on me.
Suddenly I heard a sound coming from one of the alleys on my right.
It sounded like something or someone falling on the ground.

Hello? *walking in the direction of the sound*
Carefully I took one step after another into the dark alley.

After my eyes got used to the dark, I could see a man lying on the ground.
Arabella
Excuse me, Sir, are you okay?
I carefully approached him.
After getting closer to him I could see a dark liquid coming from his body.
This man was clearly badly injured!
Not knowing what to do I could hear a clattering sound coming from a nearing carriage.
I stepped back to look out for the carriage.
It was my family carriage, here to pick me up.
Waving at the coachman, he climbed down and came to me.
Coachman
*concerned* Miss, what are you doing here? Is there a problem?
Arabella
I found a wounded man lying in the alley, could you please help me carry him, he needs treatment.
Coachman
Miss, you need to be more careful, he could be dangerous!
Arabella
I know, I know, but treating him comes first, he is unconscious.
After persuading the coachman he lifted the man inside the carriage.
Now sitting in the carriage facing an unconscious man I felt kind of weird.
He looked rather peaceful lying there but something didn't feel right, like some kind of familiarity coming from him.
It was like my body wanted to warn me about this person.
With that we arrived at the mansion where Serena already awaited me.
Serena
*shocked after she sees the man* My Lady! What happened?
Arabella
Serena, please go call the doctor, I will explain it to you later.
Serena nodded and rushed away.
When the doctor came, treated him and prescribed medicine, we had already taken him to a guest room.
Doctor
He got some bad injuries from a sword and lost a lot of blood.
Doctor
He will probably awake some time tomorrow.
With that the doctor excused himself and was already gone again.
Serena
Miss, could you please explain what happened?
Serena
And what will your parents say, if they find out you brought a guy home with you!
Serena
What if there are going to be rumors about you?! 😵
Arabella
Okay, okay, calm down, I will explain.
Arabella
But first let's leave the room, here is a patient after all.
Serena and I left the room and I started explaining.
If i had known what consequences would follow frome my actions, I might have reconsidered and just left him back there in the alley...
