During the second year of highschool, Shinoa Hirotaka transferred to our school. Ever since she transferred here, I've never seen her get along with others once..

She's just really aloof and quiet. Some boys in our class call her the "Ice queen" due to her intimadating cold aura, except me i guess. I was just kinda curious about her.

Oh..sorry for the late introduction, the name is Haru Akihiko. I'm also a member of the music club (plays guitar) and i've been keeping my hair long when i graduated into Highschool, you know the Trend these days!

The me right now, is kind of interested in the girl named Shinoa Hirotaka.

There are rumours that she has health problems and all but no one knows the truth. She always skips out P.E and goes home soon as possible when others chats and hangs out. She doesn't talk to others unless nessesary.

As mysterious this all seems, i've started to take an interest in her.

"Haru! Haru! Are you freaking deaf or ignoring me ?"

I was shaken off my thoughts when Raku hit my head, really hard

"What the hell is your problem?" i said in a loud and angry voice.

"Bro...we're trying to talk to you for almost 5 minutes but you just keeps on staring at Shinoa Hiragi's empty seat. Oya Oya..are you by chance worried about her ? Do you have a crush on her ?" he said while smirking at me in a silly way.

Suddenly, with my beet red blushed face and widened eyes on hearing him, i said hurriedly ~

"Of-ofcourse not! I was just looking at the sky beside, haha.."

"Why are you so beet red in the morning Raku?" Aki chuckled in a teasing mannner.

"Why are you trying to hide the fact H-a-r-u-k-u-n?" Yumi said as she joined the conversation.

"Look at him, he's going to die out of embaressment any moment now!' Miku chuckled.

I stood up. "Y-you know what ? I'm not feeling well right now so i'm skipping the classes today and none can stop me from it"

"Oy Haru stop. We were just messing with you.....Haarruu!!"

I didn't bother to look back and continue walking out of the classroom.

*Middle of July 9:50, We crossed path*

[Author Note : To be honest, I already planned the ending and all and wanted to complete this in one chapter. Well..it would be nearly 20,000 words or more so I thought of dividing it as the readers won't get bored so soon. Not that I expect any readers 😂]

[MC - Haru Akihiko]

Haru means sunlight in Japanese so I thought of it as he, in my mind is a character who is very active and participates in all activities, having friends and have a bright smile on his face like a Sunray !

[FMC - Shinoa Hirotaka]

Shinoa means Love, Affection, Mind, etc in Japanese so I thought of her as a loving person which we are yet to see as I haven't brought to the story. Moreover, the name "Shinoa Hiragi" is from a character in 'Owari no Seraph' which is one of my favourite mangas ! So I used a similar name.

P. S well..I wrote these irrelevant stuff just to pass the "500 words minimum" limit 😂

I passed through the quiet hallways on the way through the infirmary. All students had classes this period but I better be careful before someone caught me. I made sure that I look a bit ill (ACTING 100) so I can convince the school nurse that I'm not feeling well. I held my head and close my eyes a little, pretending to have a headache, as I opened the door.

"Miss Lily i'm not feeling so well today so i'm gonna use the infirmatory bed all day and skip my classe-"

I heard a loud gasp that made me open my eyes, only to find Shinoa half ***** in front of me

"Kyaaaaaaaaaa!"

My eyes widened in shock and my face was heated up in embarressment. I covered my eyes, well half of them to be honest.. (GENTLEMAN 100)

"Uh-ahh-well Y-yah...I-i-im sorry! I-i didn't do it on p-purpose! I really didn't see anything!"

That was a Lie. I saw everything, but instead of her slender and beautiful half ***** figure, there was something else that caught my attention. It was somewhat similar to a pacemaker i must say.

[ABC Highschool, Top Floor(Roof Top)]

"Do you know what's Haku Byouki (Arrhythmia) is ?"

"Haku Byouki ?? ya...i've heard about it before! i said snapping my fingers. Wasn't it quite famous as the famous singer 'Rouki Tachiba' died because of it ?"

"Yeah that's the one.." she sighed as she replied.

"Officially, it's said to be a disease which results in the irregular beating of the heart as the heart muscles of the people having this disease wil be weak. It can be considered in the category of Cardiomyopathy. It's a rare disease found one in a million people to be specific."

I didn't said anything back...

"Have you heard this ?" She asked eagerly."The amounts of time a person's heart beats in their lifetime, is decided when they are born. And a person who has this illness has less heartbeats than everyone else."(Don't question logic here for your info)

"Does that mean?"

"Yes...she said in a dispassionate tone"

She took out a phone looking device from her pocket. "This is the device that's placed on my chest. Take a look at this.

She gave me the device to me. I could see..

Shinoa Hirotaka

"See that? That's the ammount of heartbeats i've left." She continued, "You can check yours if you have your own personal device"

"So..T-there's about 225 million heartbeats left."

She tool the device from my hand. "You might think there's alot left but probably 6-7 years later, my heart will stop beating."

I bit my lips as i gave her an uneasy look. I really felt bad for her but she doesn't seem so sad, does she ?

She looked up in the sky, deadpanned. If not for the pacemaker on my chest, i may not even be here now. I have nothing wrong with my health but the price i had to pay for that is high". She glanced at me and gave a smile. "My lifespan will be shorter the faster my heart beats. That's why i'm prohibited from doing such arduous (difficult) exercise."

When I recall to this heavy conversation, all I could remember was i thought to myself "Ahh, she sure can talk."

"At my previous school, it was uncomfortable because of the rumours about me clouding around there.

"Why are you telling me these?" I asked

"Well, from the way you look, you don't seem to be a bad person who'd spread rumours."

I smiled in my mind because of what she said.

"You...had it rough huh?"

"Not really, other than my short life span everything is normal." She sighed. "But the truth is I want to get along with everyone else, I want to have fun like them. If things keep going on like this, I would prefer to live my life out with every second that I have left." She closed her eyes and smiled. "But I'm afraid to do it, since it would shorten my lifespan."

I thought that the girl in front of me looked so sad as she was talking to me...

I noticed that she stood up while I was deep in thought

"Haru-san, please keep this a secret between us"

She was about to walk away but i immediately grabbed her wrist and looked straight into her eyes

"W-were all those...your true feelings Shinoa-san?" I asked her but she didn't respond as she was startled by my action just now.

"Well...if that's true then...I'll help you! I'll help you enjoy your life to the fullest! I-i'll make your heart beat like Crazy!"

"Huh?"

"Just trust me!!"

And because I didn't want her to be sad until she dies. I took her to places where she can enjoy and have fun! And...."

Ittsssssss theee seaaaaa!!! Haru-kun look! The sea is hugeee! She yelled in exitement. "Who would've thought the sea is this huge?"

"Eh? Is this your first time visiting the beach shinoa-san?"

"Yeah!" She replied. "Hey hey tell me haru-kun, what do we usually do when we go to the beach? Play in the sand? Dig some sea shells?"

"Ahhhhh, my heart is beating so fast! I'm soo exicted!"

Who would've thought i'd get to see her react like that.

"Um, are you really okay with this?" I asked her, with concern visible in my voice.

"hmm?"

"Well... I did say that I'd help you but if I get your heart pumping like that..." I heave a sigh. "I wonder if it's the right thing."

"Ahh, don't worry about that!" She grinned while looking at the clear blue sky. "I thought of doing this myself sooner or later anyway! It's a good opportunity besides..."

She glanced at me. "You're the first person I've told about my disease. Normally, people wouldn't have treated me so kindly. But you seriously thought about my feelings, and that's why you were able to say those words. That's why thank you so much Haru-kun, I'm really happy!"

Then she smiled at me, genuinely. And I think that.... that's the most beautiful smile I've ever seen.

"And also, I don't know much about the outside world... I wasn't sure of the first thing I should do, that's why I'm glad I have someone to help me with it."

I smiled widely, "Of course I'll help! If you have anything you want to do, just tell me Shinoa-san" I held her hands. "I'll always be here to help you!"

She giggled. "Promise?" she took out her pinky finger.

"Promise!" as i let our pinky fingers collide and pact our promise between us.

"I guess that we can stop with honorifics as we're friends now." She said.

"Oh sure!"

Ok! Now just call me haru as others."

"Ok! Now we're indeed friends!^^"

Suddenly she grabbed my hand and started running while telling me excitedly. "Now come Haru! Let's play!"

And...That's how our summer holidays started.

We experienced alot of exciting heartbeating moments. We did everything we could think of.

[Amusement park]

"We're going up Haru!" She cheered excitedly as we were almost on top of the rollercoaster.

I gripped my hands on her hand tightly as i closed my eyes. "Y-yeah right...h-haha...."

"Look we're almost at the summit! Open your eyes Haru!" she chuckled. "This is bad this is bad! It feels like my life span is shortening! It feels like my life span is shortening!!"

"Don't say that so lightly with a happy face like that!!" I yelled (ofc not in a angry, serious way)

"Shhh! Silence Haru! It's comingg!"

I gulped as I felt the ride stopped at the top. "I guess this is the end of m-

I suddenly felt a warm hand holding my hand. "I'm with you Haru, don't be scared. I'll always be beside you..." she softly smiled. My fears fade away so quickly as I saw her soft assuring smile.

The ride was quick and fun but i think i'd die if i'll ride once again after that.

"What's this, it's so fun! Let's go one more time Haru!"

"Wait, what?.....ehh let me atleast res-"

*The first thing that surprised when I spent time with Shinoa is that her personality is so different from her appearance. In reality, she loves to talk and move a lot. She can tell a joke and she can humour others.*

*Her reactions are so precious for me*

"Ehhh?? You haven't eaten an ice cream before?"

"Yeah, the doctor said it's not good to cool my body. I was told that as a kid." She pouted in dissapoinment.

"You should try it then!" I gave her the chocolate flavoured icecream I bought. She glanced at it before taking a bite.

I watched her intently, waiting for her precious reaction.

"Mn!!!"(idk any other reaction XD) she reacted. "What's this?! Soo delicious!"

"Calm Calm down Shinoa!! Don't splatter it over me! Eat it slowly or you'll catch Brainfreeze (intense pain in the head caused by eating or drinking something cold).

I'm a little taken back when her image is so different from her personality. I'm the only one who knows this side of her.

It makes me slightly happy to be honest, It can't be helped..

Each and everyday, we had so much fun together...
