Collision Course | Book Two

Chapter 1

Skylar walked into the headquarter, expecting everyone to be in there but no one was there. No one at all. She turned on every switch and then she walked to her office that she shared with Lauren. She opened the door and then her eyes closed immediately.

"Happy Birthday!!!" Everyone was in the room, holding cake and balloons.

Skylar sighed but she smiled right away. "Okay, what is this? I'm pretty sure I told no one about my birthday."

"Yeah, you just happened to have your brother in the same unit." Camden shrugged. He walked to Skylar with a cake on his hands. "Now, blow this candle and wish for something good."

Terrence walked to Skylar and put the hat on her head. Erick put a kiss sticker on her cheek. Hana happily wrote 'BD' on her cheeks with her lipstick. Madison gave her the knife and Lauren just smiled at a corner happily. Way too happily.

"I can't believe this." Skylar said as she blew the candles off. "Thanks though." She said that way too awkwardly.

Camden elbowed his sister. "Calm down, sis."

Terrence shrugged. "Enjoy the cake for now because we have two missions for today."

They nodded to the chief and then they went haunting the cake meanwhile Terrence went to the droid table because he never liked cake that much. He waited for the rest of them to finish while listening to a song.

"Boss, looking good today." Madison was the first to finish. She touched her chin, mimicking Terrence nice look with shaved face.

"Thanks Maddy.” Terrence smiled as he rubbed his chin a little bit.

"What do we got today?" The rest of the team came in and Hana asked.

Terrence began sliding the files he got from Clark's assistant. "Okay, here we got an island that we need to check because someone reported that they saw a boat full of blood there. Orcas Island, in the same state."

"Boss, you, Camden and Kyle should do that." Lauren gave her thought.

"Yeah, no." Terrence shook his head. "I already chose people. Kyle, Erick, Lauren and Madison to the Island. Skylar, Hana, Camden and me, on the land."

Skylar laughed. "You definitely choose losers to the island." She laughed and got glares from everybody in the Island team. She rose her hands up and grinned.

"So, we just check the boat?" Kyle asked, his skin tanner than usual as he just got home from the Navy training phase 2.

"Not just checking the boat. Find the people as well." The commander sighed. "Some people believe that someone who murdered them must still be on the island. Or,.."

"They were killed by an orca or orcas." Kyle continued.

Erick gulped. "Are you serious? Why aren't you and Cam in this mission? We are non professional."

Madison elbowed him. "Yes, we are."

"So, what is the team land going to do?" Camden asked, really curious about his own job.

"That can't be told yet. Also, Erick, please go into my office now and wait for me there." Terrence signaled the younger man.

Erick just followed the order. Terrence added some informations as he went into his office and closed the door and pulled down the slide to close the glass walls.

Erick sat uneasily. "Do you want to confess or something? You don't have to do this, you know?"

Terrence rolled his eyes. "I just want to ask you something about FBI."

Erick gulped. "Okay..."

"Do you happened to know Special Agent Michael Reynor?" Erick clicked his tongue and nodded in dissatisfaction.

Terrence sighed heavily, but he was relieved. "Can you give his contact to me? His number? Address or anything?"

Erick sighed again. He wasn't relieved like the commander. He shifted on the seat.

"I.. I don't know, boss. He was kinda my enemy back in the Bureau." Erick grinned a little, trying not to get Terrence mad.

"Okay, is he still in DC?" Terrence knew exactly the look.

"Of course."

"Good, I will meet him right away." Terrence nodded and dialed FBI's headquarter right away.

"Why don't you just track his name?"

Terrence looked at Erick. "I think you know more than me of why can't I track his name."

Erick gulped again. Terrence signaled Erick to leave with his mouth as the call finally connected.

Erick just kept sighing. He left the office, meeting Camden who wanted to walk in. He stopped the man before he came in but the man was the one who talked first.

"What's with the curtain?" Camden asked, looking at Terrence's closed office.

"You call that curtain?" Erick narrowed his eyes to that.

Camden shrugged. "What happened inside?" He eyes Erick suspiciously. "You did something, didn't you?"

Erick made a disgusted face. "Hello, sir. No. I didn't do anything. Your BFF just asked me some questions."

"What questions?"

Erick finally gave up and left Camden just like that. Camden knocked the door and as he came in, Terrence was already in his jacket, ready to drive somewhere.

"Whoa, dude. Where are you going?" Camden was totally dumbfounded that time. He couldn't stand being someone who didn't know about anything.

"Somewhere. Can you help the island team to prepare their stuffs? I'll be back super quick." Terrence grinned and patted Camden on the shoulder, leaving him dumbfounded, again.

Skylar followed Terrence to the lift. "And, you! Where are you going?!" He screamed.

"I'm going with him. Obviously." Skylar stuck out her tongue to her brother, making the man half crazy and half mad. Fully not normal.

"You okay, Agent?" Hana asked out of concern. "Here is a coff-" She couldn't finish her words because Camden already snatched her cup and gulped it down.

She couldn't tell him it was still boiling-hot.

So, a scream it was.

.

.

.

"Have you gone through puberty, Erick? You freak out over everything like a man freaking out because he sleeps with a girl ten year older." Lauren's random question when they were all on a car made Erick wanted to puke.

"Lauren, stop making fun of him. He already looks like he is going to puke... In my car." Madison advised slowly as she drove. She sometimes looked through the mirror just to be aware of Erick's situation. She had someone throwing up in her car before so she didn't want it to repeat.

"Afraid not, I can bear myself from throwing up." Erick sarcastically replied.

"I agree with Lauren because if he is going to puke, he is going to do that on my new shirt." Kyle said, not really hyped up about Erick's case.

Erick glanced at him, feeling weird with that guy's little energy. He used to be hyped up about everything, especially teasing him. Erick glanced at the shirt.

"Hmm, that doesn't look new to me." He mumbled to the man next to him.

Kyle glared at him sharply.

Erick just looked away immediately. "Sorry, man."

.

.

.

Skylar turned on the radio.

"The best way to have your child for yourself is to try reconciling with your ex-"

Terrence switched the channel as soon as possible. He looked at Skylar who looked at him with eyebrows wiggling.

"Seriously, Terry?"

"Don't call me that! I listen to that because I have no idea on how to manage Mia. I mean, she loves the both of us fairly." Terrence defended himself.

Skylar nodded. "Yeah, only Cam can call you that." She laughed as Terrence looked super annoyed. "Haven't you talked about this? I thought the both of you decided to stay at the same house, for Mia."

"He decided that. Not me. He said that. Not me. He alone. Not us. Not me." Terrence sighed as he remembered the night again when Camden suddenly announced that he would be moving in with Terrence.

"What's the matter? You guys are best friends, right?"

"Yeah, best friends that can't forgive each other." Terrence finished the topic as he pulled up, meaning that they arrived at the FBI headquarter. "Come on. We got a man to take with us."

Skylar looked at the man with concern before she just nodded to whatever it was that the man said.

.

.

.

"We used 400 dollars to stay in this chalet and yet we need to spend most of the time at the ocean. How funny." Erick had not done complaining.

"It's not your money. You can calm down now." Kyle replied to him with his cold voice again.

Erick turned at him. "Why are you so sensitive today?"

Madison glared at Erick for asking that, quieting everyone down.

"We should get going." Lauren looked at her watch. "We don't have much time left."

Kyle looked back at the chalet. "Not checking in first?"

"The commander said to only use it to sleep the night. We are working, not having a vacation." Madison read the text she got and showed it to the jaw dropped boys.

"Seriously? 400 dollars for just the night?"

"The blood in the boat is more serious, Erick. You know what I mean." Lauren sighed. "Both of you are too young for this job, honestly."

.

.

Hana stared at Camden who looked like he just lost his soul. She changed to look at the droid table before she looked back at the man. He looked so stressed that his hair didn't look normal anymore.

"Hey, Camden." Hana approached.

Camden finally looked at something else other than his own hands. "Hmm?" He hummed roughly.

"Are you okay? Because you look like you just got hit by a car, or a truck." Hana took a step nearer that man.

Camden looked at the woman, finally. "I'm good. Hana, do you know what Erick was doing in there?"

Hana nodded which got Camden to widen his eyes. "Really? What was he doing? Why'd Terry asked for him?"

Hana smiled. "I was kidding. I don't know."

Camden's face saddened immediately. "Why'd you lie?"

Hana patted his shoulder. "That was a lie too. I actually know. He was there because Terrence wants to hire someone new. I can't tell you more. Just wait for what will happen today. He will be back with Skylar shortly."

Camden's forehead wrinkled. "Huh? A new man?"

Hana nodded. "Yep, because we are short in men." She grinned, showing her beautiful teeth.

Camden rolled his eyes. "He is just being nonsense." He looked at his watch. "Can you keep watch? I have to-"

"Take Mia from school. Know it." Hana made a shooting sign with her hands.

Camden nodded and left the headquarter.

Hana stared at the droid table. "Here I am again, not given anything to do. Yet, boss wants a new man." She sighed pretty heavily. Then, she got an idea. She ran after Camden.

"You know what? Let me take her from school! I'm so bored that I will lose my mind anytime soon." She screamed at the man who just got to his car.

Camden looked at her with concern. O-okay. Off you go, then."

.

.

"Commander O'Kelly, Special Agent Michael is ready to see you now." The secretary nodded at Terrence and Skylar.

Terrence excused himself to go in there while Skylar stared at the door.

Terrence knocked the door and unfamiliar voice came into his hearing. "Come in."

He walked in and looked at the man in the face before he closed the door. He took a deep breath and walked to where he was sitting. On his chair at his table.

"Special Agent Michael?"

"Yeah, definitely." He pointed at the chair in front of him, looking a little smug.

"Okay, thanks." Terrence sat down. "Have I ever seen you before?"

Michael nodded. "Yeah, we went to the same highschool. I joined the Navy for a moment and quit as soon as I got offered this job. I know you pretty well, commander." Michael spoke with that aura.

Creepy aura.

Terrence gulped again. He didn't feel as easy now. "I sent you the email."

Michael raised his eyebrows. "That email? How can you send me an email without seeing me first? Okay, what do you actually want from me? Because I didn't read your email."

Terrence clicked his tongue before he softened his face and smiled. "I want you in my team."

Chapter 2

"This is the boat? No blood." Erick stepped into the mentioned boat carefully with Madison's help. She already took his hand because she knew exactly that Erick was kind of traumatic with water.

Lauren followed him while Kyle stayed on their motorboat, so that they still linked.

"Maybe this is the wrong boat." Kyle gave his thought.

"Or, we have another boat with blood but with the same registration number." Madison shrugged. "But, why do they get the same number? And, why is this one also abandoned?"

Lauren began thinking. "Maybe they want to confuse us. Or, whoever told the story was a liar."

Madison nodded. "Could be. Erick, you should call the HQ-" She looked at Erick who finally found something.

Erick quickly wore his gloves. "There is a dead body in the food tank." He opened the wooden door and then they all gasped as they saw the body chopped into pieces.

"Oh, now I think I am going to fall into the water and throw up. Or the other way around." Erick closed his mouth and his eyes.

"Report to the HQ now, Erick. And call the police department to come down here, send forensics too. We need to run its DNA." Madison gave the order.

Lauren took a deep breath. "Because there is no head in here."

"Oh, God!" Erick almost fainted due to the view.

.

.

"I want you in the team."

Michael laughed. "You are kidding, right?" He snickered to the point he began coughing. He closed his mouth and took his breath to look back at Terrence's serious face.

"I am not kidding. You are one of the top agent, right? I need your help with something."

"Is this about Erick Wilson?" Michael guessed and he guessed right because Terrence nodded.

"So, temporary member?" Terrence offered.

Michael shrugged. "Depends. If I get addicted with the team, you can't kick me out."

Terrence smiled and nodded. "Great. Deal?" He gave his hand.

And, Michael shook it.

Hana waited in the car, while tapping the steer, waiting for the little girl, Mia to come to the car. She sang a song about a break up even though she just got into a new relationship with Niles. That's probably why she sang that way too happily.

"Hana?"

Hana turned to see Mia's confused face.

"Yes, my dear. Come on in." Hana turned off the lock and smiled at the girl.

"Where is dad? Is he okay?" Mia was asking, a little bit panicked.

"Of course, he is great. I'm just picking you up because I am so bored at the headquarter." Hana explained as Mia got into the car.

"Oh, is that so? How about you come to my ballet class this evening?" Mia smirked as Hana's eyes widened.

"Oh my God! Really?"

Mia nodded. "Of course. I am sure uncle can cut you out from the shift today."

Hana nodded. "Let me call hi-"

"No! I will call him! He may not allow you if you are the one asking. He can be pretty noisy." Mia took out her phone and called Terrence.

Too bad, the call wasn't answered so she called Camden instead, who answered right away.

"Hello, dad." Mia approached first as the call connected.

"Mia? Why are you calling? Hana doesn't pick you up?" Camden asked, already panicking because Mia never called her at this time.

"Nope, she is here. I am just calling to ask your help. Can you get Uncle Terry to allow Hana takes her leave today? Because I want her to attend my ballet class." Mia spoke, her voice soft but eager.

Camden's jaw dropped. "I don't think that's a good idea. Can't she go another day?" He sighed. "Why didn't you call your uncle?"

"I did. He didn't answer. I'm counting on you, daddy! Thank you!" Mia ended the call.

Hana looked at her curiously. "How?"

"All good. No worries."

.

.

.

Michael and Terrence walked out together. Skylar looked at them with eyebrows rising. She looked at Michael closely and she sighed before she looked at Terrence.

"Oh, God. You two look close." She said, judging, also not liking the new dude's vibe. She actually said that sarcastically, for Terrence.

"Skylar, Michael. Michael, Skylar." Terrence introduced them.

They shook hands while glaring at each other and of course, Terrence noticed that. "Okay, calm down. So, Michael, I will go back to our headquarter. Expecting you to be there at 2PM."

Michael nodded. They shook hands and Terrence walked away with Lauren.

"Okay, what was that?" Lauren asked with unsatisfied tone.

Terrence narrowed his eyes. He let Skylar drove the car this time. The car moved as soon as they were in.

"What what?" He asked, glancing back at the FBI's headquarter.

"Him, I don't like him and I have the feelings that both you and my brother know him and my brother doesn't like him as well." Skylar told the man honestly. She drove pretty slow compared to how she usually does because she wanted them to have a long conversation.

"Wow. How'd you know?" Terrence chuckled but Skylar didn't seem impressed so his face hardened right away. "You want to know why I want him in my team?,"

"Yeah and don't tell me you are taking him to make my brother mad so that he will begin a problem and you can take Mia." Skylar overdid the thought this time but Terrence looked at her as if her idea wasn't so bad.

"That's a good thinking but no." Terrence smiled, almost laughed again.

Skylar sighed. "Why can't you just tell us?"

"You know me. My secret plan won't work if I tell people." Terrence shrugged.

Skylar shook her head. "I don't know how can I end up liking you as a friend."

"You failed making me feel friend zoned." Terrence joked and Skylar hated him for that.

.

.

.

Camden knew he was wrong for doing this but he needed to know what the hell was Terrence hiding from him. He was so tired of that guy. That's why he sneaked into Terry's office and went into his drawers to see if there was any documents that looked special.

He found one with a unicorn sticker on it. "What the hell is this?" He took it and opened the file. He was stunned immediately and he smiled right away, seeing Mia's pictures in there.

"Wow, what are you doing in my office, Cam?" Terrence was at the door, looking at the other guy who sat on his chair with wide eyes. He looked suspicious too.

Camden looked at him and sighed as he got caught red-handed already. He kept those pictures back and then put the file back.

"It's okay. You can take it." Terrence walked in and sat on the visitor's chair.

Camden widened his eyes. "Really, dude?"

"Yeah. Yeah. Really. I actually keep those copies for you so that you will have something to know about her." Terrence rose and took the file back. He gave it to Camden.

Camden wanted to say thanks but his mouth didn't do so.

"So, mind explaining the reason of why you are here?" Terrence smiled forcefully.

"You know why. So, who is the new guy?"

Terrence shrugged. He looked out from the glass and noticed that someone was missing. He only saw Skylar. "Where is Hana?"

Camden opened his mouth and closed it back. He took a short breath and opened his mouth again. "Well, Hana picked Mia up and Mia wants her to accompany her to the ballet class."

Terrence frowned but nodded. "Okay. Now, please leave me alone."

Camden left willingly, taking the file with him. He gave a signal to Skylar meaning he was annoyed with that side of Terrence and she agreed.

.

.

.

Skylar was video calling Madison and Hana at the same time. She was in the toilet, washing her face as she did so.

"Madison, he is like a woman on period. What the hell is wrong with him?" Skylar snitched out about Terrence. She looked back sometimes to make sure no one was entering the toilet.

"Really? I'm glad then Mia takes me to this unexpectedly boring class." Hana sighed, she turned the back camera on, showing Mia dancing passionately.

"Damn, that girl's got a talent." Madison commented on Mia, ignoring Skylar's question about their boss.

"Hello, sis Maddy. I'm trying to be a good friend to Terrence now." Skylar reminded the doctor.

"Okay. That means he is stressed about something." Madison shrugged. "Maybe he has something on mind bothering him."

Hana frowned. "Is this about Mia?" She whispered those words.

"He doesn't want to give Mia back to Cam or he doesn't want to share his house with Cam." Madison gave her theory.

"Well, he needs to calm the hell down. Mia needs Camden more than she needs him anyway. Cam is her biological dad which means he is the one going to sign everything for her starting from this moment." Skylar mumbled, feeling a little unfair for her own brother.

"Relax, Sky. Maybe it is about something else." Madison gave another theory. Unhelpful one.

"I'm sure it's about Mia." Skylar sighed.

Skylar wiped her face and ended the call without excusing herself properly. She walked out and she saw Terrence at the door. He was looking at her with a pretty cold face.

"Thanks Skylar. Such a thoughtful friend you are." Terrence went in and slammed the door hard.

Skylar sighed and walked to her office. Camden approached her this time. "What happened?," The man asked.

"I don't know and I don't want to care." Skylar rolled her eyes.

She went into her office and began writing her paperwork about the last week mission.

Then, the bell suddenly rang, meaning there was someone at the door.

Camden went to the door. Skylar followed him from behind.

Oh, it was the Michael guy.

What a great day. Especially when Camden looked like he was ready to kill someone.

.

.

.

"Erick, you are not helping much." Lauren sighed when she watched the guy sitting on the motorboat, not looking into the water as they should be.

Erick nodded. "Yeah. I know that, obviously."

"Do you have water trauma?" Madison asked as she dipped a root into the water, to check if they were going at the right speed. "Kyle, slow down a bit."

Kyle followed the order, not talking much.

"Yes, obviously." Erick kept to himself. Hugging himself. Trying so bad not to look into the water.

"Wow, sorry man. Be careful then. We have orcas here." Lauren chuckled to her own joke.

"Was that a joke? Because that was actually a fact. This island is named Orcas for having killer whales obviously." Erick said, offended.

Madison shushed everyone to shut up as she heard something with hearing aid that she used. Something that she always had in her pocket when she goes into the water.

"What?" Kyle asked. "Should I slow down?,"

"Don't tell me we will have a dejavu with the crocodiles back then..." Erick sighed, hugging his own knees. "Oh, man. Not again."

Lauren sat next to Erick and closed his mouth, while patting his back, trying to calm the boy down.

They all shut up and then they saw movement in the water.

"Kyle!! GO FASTER!!" Madison ordered, half screaming.

Kyle added the speed and went faster. But the whale was obviously faster because it caught up pretty fast and was already behind them.

Erick who panicked, stood up to run but lost his balance, making him fall into the water. He screamed as loud as he could but he was relieved to the fact that Madison caught his hand. Lauren helped pulling his other hand. They tried pulling him back into the motorboat as Kyle went faster to keep safe distance from the whale.

Finally, Erick got into the boat harmlessly.

He looked at everyone who looked at him except for Kyle because he was too busy controlling the motorboat. The orca swam back because policemen's boats are way too much at where they arrived.

"Man, that was awesome!!!!" Erick screamed loudly with a bright smile on his face. He hugged Lauren and Madison.

"Thank you girls. Love you." Erick kissed their cheeks, making the both of them cringed so hard.

Kyle chuckled. "Hey, I was helping too!"

Erick smiled at him. "Thanks dude. No kisses for you."

Kyle made a disgusted face.

"Think you are fine with the water now?" Lauren asked.

Erick nodded confidently. "HELL YEAH!"

"Wanna go back in?" Madison raised her eyebrows. "I can help pushing."

Erick moved away from her, hugging Lauren who cringed for the skinship again. "Don't you dare do that to me!" He screamed so loud.
