**Kim Xian Ling is made an orphan when heiress Chin Pei Yee causes the death of her mother, Rose Kim, in a traffic accident. Rose Kim and Chin Pei Yee had been rivals in love for the same man, Han Wei, with Chin Pei Yee ensnaring him into marriage by claiming the child she is carrying is his. Han Wei attempts to make amends for abandoning his college sweetheart by trying to give the orphaned Kim Xian Ling a home, much to the anger of Chin Pei Yee and the jealousy of his daughter Han Kai Xin. When Kim Xian Ling discovers evidence that her mother's death may be more than an accident, she forgoes the chance of a life of wealth and privilege for an orphanage.

Taken in by the widow of the man who ran down her mother, Kim Xian Ling grows up alongside Lu Chen, an impoverished but driven and academically brilliant young man, who became the love of her life. Devoting herself to Lu Chen's success, Kim Xian Ling gives up her own tuition money and works multiple jobs, so that he can go to a good university. Wishing to prove himself to those who had earlier discarded him, Lu Chen joins Han Kai Xin's father's company, SafeTech Construction. Winning plaudits at SafeTech, Han wei offers to have SafeTech pay for Lu Chen to study for an MBA in the United States and a fast track into an upper management position at SafeTech on the condition that he looks after Han Kai Xin while abroad. Having promised to marry Kim Xian Ling upon graduation, Lu Chen seeks and receives Kim Xian Ling's blessing to leave her for five years. Wanting only for his success, Kim Xian Ling insists that he should go while concealing the fact that she is pregnant with his child.

History repeats itself when Lu Chen forsakes Kim Xian Ling for Han Kai Xin. Lu Chen and Han Kai Xin shared a mutual childhood crush for each other and in the five years away together in the United States, have become lovers. Heartbroken, Kim Xian Ling disappears from the scene.

However, Han Kai Xin plans to take over SafeTech, with Lu Chen's help, are derailed when her uncle, Han Lin Shu, returns home with a new bride(this is not true they are not married they were set up as a blind date he meets her in Korea he doesn’t return with her as a new bride), Ha Fei Na, a woman with the face of the departed Kim Xian Ling.

After being taken by Lu Chen's mother and brought to Han Kai Xin's house, Kim Xiao Lian (Kim Xian Ling's daughter) falls victim to an accident that leaves her unconscious and she's placed in the ICU. Meanwhile, Kim Xian Ling goes missing. Lu Chen's mother tricked Kim Xian Ling into showing up at a mental hospital where she is trapped by the staff. She managed to escape from their grasp, but was later run down by a car, with Chin Pei Yee screaming in the background, trying to get her to stop.

When Kim Xian Ling finally comes to, Chin Pei Yee realizes that Kim Xian Ling is experiencing amnesia. She tricks Kim Xian Ling into thinking that she is one of her mom's friends. She keeps Kim Xian Ling in the hospital, hoping to keep her out of the way and have her start a new life. Later on, Lu Chen's mother spills the secret to Lu Chen and Han Kai Xin eventually finds out. Neither of them tells Kim Xian Ling's family, for their own selfish reasons.

Meanwhile, Ha Fei Na meets with Kim Xian Ling's adopted sister, who was shocked at the resemblance. Ha Fei Na remains suspicious, especially after she finds the baby clothes that her mother had hidden. Ha Fei Na went as far as to test her DNA with Kim Xian Ling's after sneaking into her house to find samples of her hair.

Later on, Ha Fei Na locates the mental hospital that Kim Xian Ling is held at and tells her the entire truth. Ha Fei Na switches clothes with Kim Xian Ling to let her sneak out of the hospital, but a mentally ill patient next door starts a fire just after Kim Xian Ling manages to leave the hospital. Kim Xian Ling rushes back to her twin sister, only to find her unconscious. Kim Xian Ling, dressed in Ha Fei Na's clothes, soon becomes unconscious as well.

Both Kim Xian Ling and Ha Fei Na's families rush to the emergency room, however, because of the clothes swap, Kim Xian Ling is identified as Ha Fei Na, and the now deceased Ha Fei Na is identified as Kim Xian Ling. From there, Kim Xian Ling takes the place of Ha Fei Na and starts her revenge.

Moving forward, Kim Xian Ling's revenge progresses as she takes Chin Pei Yee's family one-by-one when she moves into the house of her now husband Han Lin Shu. From there, Han Lin Shu's mother Meng Ran has Dementia. Because of Meng Ran's condition, she mentions Rose Kim many times to Chin Pei Yee that made her so angry. Han Kai Xin on the other hand, hears Meng Ran and her mother's argument that her father is not her real biological father.

Kim Xian Ling discovered something that will change her life forever. Chin Pei Yee's husband, Han Wei is her real biological father to Rose Kim. Chin Pei Yee stole her dad from Rose Kim while she was pregnant with Kim Xian Ling. Meng Ran knew about this and told Kim Xian Ling which later resulted in Rose Kim's death**.
