No Need For Antidepressants

STRANGER

Elle sat in the corner of her room with her head buried between her legs listening to their screams. Their words that sank right through her, piercing her heart, the screams and shouts got louder and louder, she was on the edge of going insane. This was something she hated. She couldn't stand their constant over looked discussions, and the prying in each other's neck. She grabbed her phone and went downstairs.

“Can’t you see what you’re doing to me?”

Elle shouted as her heart ached and tears slid down her cheeks, sinking into her pores stinging her as she tried wiping it away. She was meaningless to them, her dad punched the wall at every f*ck you that sprung from her mother's mouth.

Every day was a struggle to keep on fighting but she was only human after all, how much more could she take? How much more before she had finally lost her head? She was the biggest coward she'd every seen. She couldn't stop herself from hurting. No one could stop her at that moment, right there and right then. She was covered under an avalanche of pain.

She grabbed her shoes, opened the door and ran…..

Gasping like hell with a constant burning in her throat and an unexplainable hurt in her chest. She stopped and screamed out in pain, she couldn't handle it any more. Her feet gave up along with her vision.

Elle sat on the bench trying to grasp her breath as it slowly faded away. This was the first time in a while She felt this bad, she wanted to rip out her emotions and burned it, she wanted to feel something other than pain. She took out a blade from my pocket with the thought of draining out all the things she felt.

The thought of piercing the blade deep in her flesh replayed in her head like a catchy new song. Elle stared down on her hand in disbelief, it was like a book that was filled with notes, she had carved on every inch of her wrist, there was no more room for a new scar, every inch of her hand was covered with the beautiful designs she had created.

In order to cope with all her emotions, her parents and her judgmental self, she'd turned herself into a muse, a muse that only she could create beautiful masterpieces.

A part of her wanted to fight, fight for her happiness, fight for a fair chance of life but the other wanted to soak up every bit of pain she felt, so that she could feel the soft touches of reality. She knew that the way she expressed herself was stupid, she knew that if she'd continue, it would be the end of her, the end of it all but that's what she wanted; to stop feeling.

Tears gushed from her eyes as the song Train Wreck played repeatedly. She could feel every word, it made her felt things, it helped her released all the bottled up tears she held back, all the screams she shoved dead down. It was a position to her pain.

She gripped the blade tight in her hand thinking of all the ways this corrupted world broke her “I hate this!" She shouted gripping onto the blade even tighter, "Why can’t I just die?” she asked herself over and over.

“Excuse me miss, are you okay?”

Ell's heart burned with fear as she tried to force a smile and looked up. This wasn't exactly her. She hated socializing. Something about always made her uneasy, it always pulled anxiety over her.

“I’m okay,” she said making the biggest and cutest smile ever seen. He could see that she wasn't, he could see the fear in her eyes. He could see the tears running down her cheeks, he could see through her lies.

He grabbed her hand tightly in his with concern plastered over his face. He wanted to help her, he hated seeing people sad. It made him sad. He took the blade from her bony fingers “What did you do?”

He looked deep in her eyes. He knew what it was like to feel what she was feeling. He knew what it was like to be numbed. He knew her pain. He unzipped his bag and took out some bandages. He carefully placed her hand on the bench and bandaged her hand.

“All done," he said smiling. He moved closer to her and peeked at her face, the street light reflecting on her face, her tear drop collided with the light.

Such beautiful shown through pain. "You can cry, you can scream but you can’t die, I'm here to lend an ear.” His words were just what she wanted, something she longed to hear.

"Am I worth those words though?" She asked gazing in his face, feeling the cold wind on her cheek as she lifted her head.

He sat beside her with a curious look on his face. He felt pitiful towards her, he felt bad for her. He pointed at the sky wishing he could take away the pain she felt even for a day. That was him. He was always way too kind hearted and loving, something he wished he could change about himself.

“Do you believe in destiny?” She shook her head as a reply. She liked how she felt then. She liked the comfort he gave her. She liked his words. They made her feel things.

He pointed to the sky, "Look, the Sirius star. One day you’ll shine brighter than that star, just hold on,” he said smiling effortlessly, every bad memory and every bad feeling left her side.

Some called it butterflies, but whatever it was she could feel it, she felt euphoria. This was the first time in her life she'd ever felt this good. Feeling overwhelmed by the warm fuzzy feeling in her stomach, she got up and smiled “Thank you, I’ll be going now.”

Alone at home, his words lingered in her head as she went up the stairs “How could something or someone this dark and broken shine that bright?” She sat on my bed and looked at the bandage. Written in black ink was “Namjoon.”

TAG ALONG

"YOU DON'T NEED ANTIDEPRESSANTS WHEN YOU'RE WITH ME."

"AND YOU DON'T NEED TO THINK WHEN YOU'RE WITH ME, I'LL TAKE AWAY EVERY NIGHTMARE, EVERY BAD MEMORIES, I'LL HOLD YOU IN MY ARMS AS LONG AS YOU LIKE."

Ellie Anna Lee hadn’t given up as yet. Elle a simple 18-year-old college female medical student found hope again. She got out of bed smiling down at her arm as the sun peaked through the thin curtains. It was indeed a beautiful morning. The first morning she enjoyed in a while.

She made her way downstairs filled with energy. She saw her mom sitting on the couch with her face in her palms and a beer can at her feet, “Hey mom, are you okay?” She gave her no respond. But that was Mrs. Lee. She barely exchanged words with her daughter, and nothing much changed about that day, only the fact that Elle didn't feel the need to jump off a building.

The feeling of sadness spread across the room from her mother. She sat beside her and placed her hand on her shoulder. “Lee, what should I do?” she asked as tears fell from her eyes and onto the carpet.

Seeing tears fell from her eyes was a scene she would see every day, a science she wished she could change, never see again. “Mom, you should get yourself cleaned up. Sis will be here soon.” She nodded her head and wiped away the tears.

She was happy. She had finally gotten the chance to sleep in, no nightmares, nothing. It had been a while since she slept that good or even had the urge to get out of bed. Today was really a special day in disguise. She made herself breakfast, cleaned her room, cleaned the guess room, took a shower, grabbed her mom’s car keys and headed out. Well prepared for the day ahead.

“Kathy, let me in.” she got no reply. She searched her purse and pulled out a single key, pushed it in the door and twisted it. She had always felt like she was invading person’s spaced but not today, today was amazing and it would end that way.

She entered and headed towards the kitchen. "Why isn’t anyone home?" She asked herself. She headed up the stairs and into Kathy's room.

Elle really wanted Kathy to tag along with her to pick up her sister. It was always nice having Kathy by her side. She wondered back down the stairs and made her way to the door.

There was no one home so why would she stay? The door was flung back towards her hitting her hand causing the key to fall from her hand, “Ouch, Kathy where were you? Do you have my phone?” she asked as she bends down to pick up the key.

Silence filled her ears. She looked up, “Wait, who are you?” she asked staring at him. Huh, do I know him? What is he doing in Kathy’s house? Questions flowed through her mind. “Namjoon, you cheated!” Kathy shouted while pushing her bike in the garage. Namjoon? Elle looked down on her wrist and back at him, “Oh, Lee. You remember my cousin Kim Namjoon? I told you he’d be moving here,” she remembered now.

“Oh let me guess you’re here so that we can go pick up your sister.” She was right but Elle wanted to know what was going on? Why would the guy that comforted her the other night at the park be here?

“Hey Namjoon, wanna tag along?” Kathy asked, Elle nudged her with her elbow and smiled looking at him. He realized and smiled “okay.” Damn it why did he have to say yes? She questioned herself in the head.

CAR RIDE

She was stupid. She was stupid for being that selfish. Now she knew what to do. Be happy, smile. Elle walked up to the car and entered.

“I hope all this will be over quick,” she thought to herself. Being in crowds was her darkest fear, she hated it. She sat on the front seat and closed her eyes.

“Hey,” a voice called out to her. Things like that was terrifying, fear slid down her spine whenever she heard her name. She turned around and met his gaze. “I wanted to give you this. You left it on the bench the other night.” He said handing her the phone she had been looking all over for.

She gazed into his eyes with sadness. Elle slowly reached her hand out to the phone and grabbed it from his grip “Thank you,” she said nervously turning her gaze to the window.

She was confused about a lot of things; like why did he tag along? What was that nerve wrecking feeling? What was with that look on Kathy’s face? There were times that she would look up at the mirror and meet his eyes.

She really wanted to get out of that car. This all was too much pressure. She was pretty sure that Kathy planned it all. “We’re here!” Kathy shouted. Feeling overwhelmed she quickly got out of the car and ran up to her sister’s front door.

Immediately the door opened and she wrapped her hands around her pulling her close. Looking into her face Elle realized how much she had missed her. All she really needed was to see her. At that moment Elle was really and truly happy seeing her smile and feeling her warm hug.

“Little sis, I missed you!” she shouted squeezing the life out of her. “Kathy! You’re here, and who might this handsome fellow be?” she asked excitedly. What? During Elle’s 18 years of life she had never heard her spoke like that before. What was happening?

“Hey Sia, this is my cousin Namjoon.” Kathy replied. His warm smile exposed his cute dimples and his bright eyes. That was a site that could fill the empty heart. Elle made her way upstairs with burning excitement to see her baby niece. Pushing the door burning with excitement she slowly made her way over to the crib. “Oh, hi,” a gentle voice whispered.

Something about that voice was familiar. She turned around to be met by a soft gaze. “Hi, who are you?” It seemed rude to be that straight forward but why not just drop all formalities? “I’m Jungkook, Aden’s little brother.” He replied. Aden’s brother? Why was his face so familiar? She asked herself.

Sia came bursting through the door “I see you’ve met Zoe’s uncle.” She said smiling. “He’s here to help me move.” She finished her sentence clutching onto his arm. “It was lovely meeting you Jungkook.” Elle felt that the air was getting too heavy. She smiled at Jungkook and switched her gaze to the door ready to flee. What was her sister up to?

Walking down the stairs she gazed back to find Jungkook’s eyes carefully tracing her steps. She slowly opened the door and walked towards the car, opened the door and entered. She hated being around that much eyes. She plugged in her ear piece and played a song from her playlist. All of it feels so off. Was it because it had been a while since she interacted with anyone? No that wasn’t it.

She felt a hand slightly tapped her shoulder. “Please don’t be him, please don’t be him,” she repeated in her head multiple times as she turned around in fright, shaking, afraid to exchange words or gazes.

“Are you okay?” Namjoon asked. Elle’s eyes were glued to his face searching for the perfect way to reply to him. “Yes, I’m fine.” She responded with a smile. “You’re not use to seeing this much faces each day do you?” he asked smiling.

She flashed him a smile and removed the ear plug from her ear. “What were you listening to?” he asked still smiling. “Here.” she handed him one of the ear pieces.

He took it from her hand, his fingers gently brushing across her fingers sending a tickling sensation throughout her body. He putted it in his ear and began listening. “Train wreck?” he asked removing the plug from his ear. He was a fan of this kind of music just as she was.

Looking up from his gaze she glimpsed Jungkook and Kathy walking up to the car and headed to the car trunk. Kathy entered the car and sat on the driver’s seat.

She turned towards her with a smile “What are you two doing?” They both flashed her a smile and resumed the song. The front car door was flung back and Sia entered with the baby in her arms.

The door next to her was then suddenly opened and Jungkook entered the car, sitting next to her with a smile glued on his lips. He gazed over at her then at Namjoon grooving to the music and smiled.

Night had finally caught them on the road. Sitting in the car waiting for the final stop, the rain began pouring and the light flashes of lightening came after. Elle relaxed and laid back watching the lights glittering on the car window through the dark and the rain drops running down the window.

She listened as the sounds of the thunder got louder feeling relaxed. The warmth that surrounded her and the sounds of the rain sent her to sleep.
