Clumsy Meets Bipolar {COMPLETE}

Chapter 1

First things, first! Introduction. I'm Cleo Michaels and I'm not saying my middle name, sorry. I'm 18, I'm a senior in high school. I've got jet black hair, and I'm a cheerleader -- a clumsy one; an extremely clumsy one.

You know that clumsiness someone has where they only stare at a bucket and in five seconds, the bucket falls on their head? You don't? Well I'm that clumsy.

Rumors once spread around school that I was cursed. Of course, they died down like most rumors, but I still keep my distance from people. Just in case.

I'm not cursed, by the way.

Aside that, I'm good to go... I guess. I mean, people say I'm pretty, curvy and a little bit funny. Oooh! That rhymes. I have two BFFs, an adopted little sister who's five and my life is really good, if you scratch the clumsy part.

It was Monday morning and I was three minutes late. The hallway was dead silent and I could see my class at the other end of the hallway. I walked so fast, a locker caught my shirt and ripped an arm off. "How does this even happen?!" I yelled as I tossed the torn piece into a trash can.

As I made my way toward my class, I heard fast footsteps behind me. I turned back. The only thing I saw was a blue hoodie before I fell on my back, as the strange person hit me and ran past me.

Judging by how hard I was hit, the person could pass for a football player. When I stood up, the person wasn't there anymore. They couldn't even apologize! Quite an asshole!

I finally got to my class. "Another late person?" Here's Mr. Hedge; our mean math teacher, who nobody likes. "I'm sorry." I apologized, taking my seat to avoid his unnecessary talk about how messed up our generation was.

"Now, before I--"

"Sorry I'm late!" Sarah, my first BFF yelled as she came inside. She was out of breath. Mr. Hedge already looked frustrated. "Any delinquent wanna come in late again? Because if this door opens again and someone comes in late again, all you latecomers are on-"

"Good morning, Mr. Hedge." Jeremy, my second BFF greeted, coming in late.

"-detention. That's it! All four of you latecomers, after school detention for 3 hours." He huffed.

"Three hours? I got here 5 minutes late, and I'll get detention for 3 hours?" Everyone turned to the person who had the audacity to say that. He was sitting behind me. I took him as a new kid because I had never seen him before.

That hoodie! That blue hoodie! He pushed me in the hallway. The Jerk! The asshole! And why was he standing up to Hedge, of all horrible people?

"You think I care? Detention for 3 hours." Mr. Hedge stood his ground. "New guy's got some nerves." Sarah mumbled, and since the guy behind me sighed, I guess he heard it.

School's gonna be fun for me if this rude jerk keeps putting me in detention after today.

Chapter 2

It was lunch break and the new guy didn't have a problem with fitting in. He made people laugh -- even the grumpy lunch lady, Grace. Only the funniest of the funny could make her crack a smile! He was quite the charming asshole!

"Hey, have you talked to Kayden Woods? He's so lively and childish." Sarah commented as she sat with me and Jeremy. "I'm not gonna. He's not so big of a shot for me to talk to him." I said, stabbing my salad with my plastic fork.

I felt petty for holding it against him, but he did hit me without offering an apology. And there he was, going around and making people smile on his first day of school, thinking of life as a freaking bed of roses!

"I smell jealousy." Jeremy sang. "Why would I be jealous? I'm just mad because he's a jerk and no one's seeing it, except me. He's part of the reason why I was late." I growled.

"How?" Sarah asked, looking suspiciously at me. "Hey, I guess this is the only table I haven't joined today." Kayden smiled as he joined us. I scooted away from him, earning me a glare from Sarah.

"So, how are you guys?" Kayden asked with a sing-song voice. "We're great, Kayde. These are my friends, Jeremy and Cleo." Sarah said.

Great, she already gave him a nickname.

"Nice to meet you two." He said. "It's my pleasure here." Jeremy replied, nudging me with his elbow, wanting me to say something, but I almost slapped him with my fork.

"I'm sorry, does Cleo talk? Oh wait, she talked when she was late this morning." Kayden said. Jeremy snickered and Sarah laughed loudly.

What the hell is funny? If something like that is what made the lunch lady laugh, then she must have a poor sense of humor!

"Look at us, the senior detention squad. Am I right, Cleo?" Sarah asked. I just shook my head, glaring at her.

"Sorry Kayden, she woke up on the wrong side of the bed." Sarah tried to cover up for me. "No, I didn't." I finally said. "But something else must have pissed you off." Jeremy said with a smirk. "Yes. A jerk hit me this morning and I fell." I said, glaring at Kayden. His eyes widened in realization.

"I'm sorry about that." He finally apologized. "That's what you wanted." Jeremy mumbled, but it was loud enough for me to hear. "Yes, that's what I wanted, Jeremy." I snapped.

"We're going to watch a movie this Friday night, wanna come? We have an extra ticket." Sarah offered him. She liked him, didn't she? I ship them.

Sayden! No, Kayrah... ugh! I'm terrible at coming up with ship names.

"It depends on how I feel. Are you coming, Cleo?" Kayden asked. "No, I have to babysit." I shrugged. "You babysit?" He asked, sounding surprised. "During the weekends, yeah." I replied. "So, are you coming?" Sarah asked him. "I'll give you my answer on Friday. What time is the movie?" He asked. "Seven PM." Sarah said. "Okay, I'll make sure to tell you before then, babe." He flirted with a wink.

That was lame. And gross. I don't like it when people are called babe. Well, sometimes I do. It depends. But the wink? No-no.

"Flirt." I murmured and, luckily, no one heard. I finished my meal and attempted to stand up, but my knee hit the table and I fell for the second time today.

I wasn't even surprised.

"Are you okay?" Kayden asked, offering me his hand. I took it and he pulled me up.

"Thanks." I said and the bell rang. Thank God. I walked to class, stumbling and tripping over random things. Maybe I was cursed, after all.

Chapter 3

School was over! But unfortunately, we had detention. I sat in front of Kayden, glaring at Sarah who was ranting on and on about how she got 3k followers on Instagram.

Well, I'm that jealous friend who has 700.

"You know, Cleo, you never really post steamy pics." She turned to me. "What do I know? You're the one who knows how to pose like a freaking model. All I can do is just smile sweetly in photos and make weird faces." I said back. It was the truth, though.

Sarah could be a model if she wanted to. She could come up with a pose in one second, while I was like a rigid sack of potatoes.

"I could teach you. I mean you've been stuck at 700 followers." She said in an almost mocking tone.

"Don't be a bitch about it because you're at 3k. I don't wanna learn." I said with a shrug. "You're jealous?" Jeremy asked and I glared at him. "No, I'm not. How many followers do you have, Kayden?" I asked, diverting the attention from me.

"Um... I checked last night. About 900k." He said. "I'm guessing I'm the only one who hates k and says thousand instead, huh?" Jeremy laughed . "900k?!" Sarah yelled. "I'm a part-time model so..." Kayden replied.

"Yeah, sure." I rolled my eyes, doubting him. "I don't need you to believe me, Cleo." He said, emphasizing my name arrogantly and I just rolled my eyes.

"I actually kinda ship you two." Jeremy said. I looked at him with disgust. "No way." I shook my head. "Do you hate me? Or is it that time of the month?" Kayden asked. It was that time of the month, but he didn't need to know that. Besides, it was the last day of it.

"I don't hate on people. You just happened to hit me in the hallway, make me extra late and get me in detention." I said with a fake sweet smile. "You would've gotten detention anyway. You were already late. You're a strong grudgeholder." He stated.

"Yes, I am." That, I could agree to. The only person I could forgive easily, because she was extremely stubborn, was Sarah.

"Why don't we just talk about what we like doing?" Sarah suggested. "It would have been better if you had said our hobbies." Jeremy said.

"Sorry, Kayden. He has OCD." Sarah said. "I see." Kayden replied.

''Well, I like painting and playing the guitar." Kayden said. "Ha! Classic." I laughed.

"What do you mean classic, Cleo?" He asked. "You look like the boring type." I said mockingly, even though I didn't mean it. For some reason, he seemed to be grinding his teeth against each other.

"I. Am. Not. Boring." He said, pausing at each word and walked away. Was it normal to walk away from detention? Was it normal for detention to be missing a teacher?

Welcome to our school.

"What's his deal?" I asked. "Maybe, just maybe, you were being a little too mean? Go easy on him." Jeremy said. "You were right, Jeremy. I totally ship them." Sarah said.

"Coming from someone who has been all over him since he showed up? Shocker." I said, meaning it. "All over him? I was being nice. Maybe you're jealous. And he likes you... sorta." She said. "No, he likes you." I said back.

"Wrong. Cleo, if you noticed, he loves calling your name after each sentence. You're a cheerleader, who would want her?" Jeremy asked, pointing at Sarah. "Well, if she's such a cheerleader, why does she have 700 followers and how many do I have? 3k!" She snapped her fingers.

"I said don't be a bitch about it." I murmured.

"First, it's 3 thousand, not 3k. Secondly, you only got Instagram-famous because you got a pic with Shawn Mendes. And 3 thousand followers isn't even that much." Jeremy said. "It's not my fault. I told you guys to come with me to Hollywood for a weekend vacation, and what did you say? It was too extra. So guess who has the 3k followers to say it wasn't extra? Moi. And it is much, for the record." She argued.

"Before the three thousand followers, you were always a bitch." Jeremy said.

They glared at each other for five years. Okay, twenty seconds.

"You two are cute and I ship it." I giggled. They stopped glaring at each other and started glaring at me.

"To think I'd date a bitch." Jeremy said. "To think I'd date a hot quarterback, and I swear I wanted to say asshole." She said. Her face was growing red in embarrassment.

Aww, they really were cute.
