Don't Love Me. Mr Fern.
Lukas Fern
Lukas Fern
Get me a wife right now!
Clara
But sir, you have selected none out of the twenty girls called in.
In a stern voice he looked at her, he was not calm. his mother would be visiting soon.
Lukas knew the pressure he has to go through to get just one woman who could match up to his taste.
Just as Clara his PA has said, numerous girls had been called in to apply for this outstanding contract but all he has rejected.
Not that they were not well educated or ladies with the standard... Lukas Fern knew what he so wanted.
Clara
I suggest you look at them once more .
She had to persuade him but she doubted if this would work on her impatient boss.
Mighty his name stood in the city of Chicago.
Lukas Fern
Who are you to me?
He asked angrily but his face never expressed it.
Clara knew that tone and she didn't want to get on the tiger's tail, probably not today.
Her voice was not sound for she was scared to upset this man.
A man of not words but action, every individual feared this mighty business tycoon. Leaving the entire city absolutely to fall at his pick and call.
Lukas Fern
Good you know your place so you don't fall out in line.
Get that?
Place a call to Stan, I'm stepping out.
Clara nodded instantly, placing a call to Stan, the boss's personal driver.
Surely it was one of Lukas Fern's business meeting he be attending, though he let Clara do her job but not today.
A call came in shortly as Lukas left the balcony he stood. Clara checked the tablet she held to recognize the caller. it was no other than Celine.
Lukas ex. In months, she hasn't called him ever since the breakup.
Clara hesitated for a while before telling Lukas his ex was ringing him.
Lukas Fern
Pick up the call and put it on speaker now.
Clara nodded again. She dragged the green icon on the tablet screen for the call to be received.
🔈.... hello...
I need to talk you Lukas. Please.
He didn't respond but listened, he had no regret of what has occurred seven months ago. just after that, she calls him.
He only smiled, Clara ended the call knowing her boss was not in the mood to talk.
It was just business meetings he was after.
Lukas Fern
Reschedule 6pm, I will be meeting with her. Place a call to her later.
She nodded again before leaving.
You're fired.
Greg
I'm assuring you Mr Fern, partnering with me. You won't regret a thing.
Lukas Fern
Well, your perspective of this business is not strong.
He poured himself some shot. sipping from his glass.
According to Lukas , he looked at both meriting and from a loss.
Lukas Fern knew what he was doing.
He thought differently from others, in terms of business association.
Though he didn't want to intimidate his new business associate.
He's been in this business for many years, in his early thirties. He has gotten highly profiting business platforms around several countries.
Aside his father's wealth, his name rang across the big city of Chicago.
He sole made his own wealth on his own, having a lot of business cooperation.
For indeed this man was a man of calibre.
Mr Greg smiled though he felt insulted.
But regarding to business, he had to win his heart and for what himself comes to gain if the deal is sealed.
Yes, in his eyes lies desperation. Who won't want to partner with the most feared and highly respected business tycoon.
Greg
Mr Fern, I understand your words but just look at this....
Lukas poured himself again yet another glass.
Lukas ignored his objective of the whole ordeal.
Gulping from his glass loudly.
Matters like this time was held in his glamorous insightful mansion.
In his large furnished office, sparkling of gold.
Lukas Fern
I just don't think this business has got more profit. And besides it's just starting off.
Lukas Fern
If you will excuse me, Mr Greg I have got somewhere to be.
It was time to dismiss him, at sighting Clara at the door. it only meant one thing, Celine would be waiting.
Mr Greg left after wards without much convincing.
The limousine arrived at the exquisite restaurant strictly for the wealthy.
He announced to Lukas, who was seated at the back. Looking like it, in his handsomeness as usual. He wore an evening dating suit, fitting his masculine body and a pair of trousers to match with some black turkey loafers.
He looked extremely taller and handsome, the car was opened by Stan. As he stepped out.
It starred at the restaurant inscription. It read, 'Classicals n Exquisite'
A table has been booked already, as the door was opened to him.
He caught sight of her quickly. Celine. Reminding himself it was just a casual meeting and nothing more.
He walked up to the table.
Lukas Fern
Nice to meet you.
His all feature appeared being bossy tonight as he is truly.
She didn't speak, there was this silence for a whole five minutes before she spoke.
She paused again, she was losing it. She knew, tears was gathering but she could not bring herself to cry in front of him.
Lukas Fern
Speak, Celine. The words aren't stuck in your throat. Or are they?
Celine
I'm so sorry I left you... I..
He laughed slightly at her words, was she being serious.
Lukas Fern
Why are you sorry now?
Lukas Fern
I'm too much for you to handle, aren't I?
Celine
Lukas, please listen to me... I was wrong.
Lukas Fern
Really? So what's right about me now?
Celine
We could work things out, give us a second chance, Lukas.
Celine
And I know a part of you still loves me, you won't be here otherwise.
He remained silent. As long as much he tried to let go of what happened seven months ago with her. She was right in front of him to remind him.
In midst of their conversation, his eyes trailed outside to the parked limo. There was someone else. Starring at the mirror.
But couldn't get a clear glance of the person's face.
A thief perhaps? No one dares anyway or the person becomes a toast for life.
And again where the heck was Stan he thought. Who was to be safeguarding the vehicle.
Still he remained calmed, though forgetting about Celine for a moment, watching this figure closely.
The figure was only glancing at the window. Nothing more.
Was this not weird? He thought again.
Celine
Lukas. Hello, Lukas!
Again, he drafted his attention to her.
Celine knew he was acting weird, she turned. Looking at what might has distracted his attention from her.
She saw none in particular, and wondered the cause of his distraction.
Lukas Fern
Look, Celine. I have got important things to do so suit yourself.
He stood up, one of his mean attitude. He left, approaching Stan.
Lukas Fern
And where the hell were you?
Which sent shivers to his spine.
Lukas Fern
There was someone. A figure.
Lukas Fern
But the person is gone. And if you were here as suppose you could have...
Stan
I sincerely render my apologies again sir.
Lukas Fern
You're fired. But before that, get me out of here.
Stan nodded obediently, driving his boss out of the arena.
I feel for him.
She called her but to no response, she could only hear the slight sound of the bedsheet.
It made due to her changed sleeping position.
She only muttered, getting her face buried deep into the pillow.
Mia
Have you forgotten? All about work?
Mia reminded sleeping Lily, it was her first day to be working at Roppo Coffee's Shop.
Lily has learnt about the job vacancy.
Decided to give it a try after much failed attempt in getting just one regular job.
She totally have given up the search when Mia suggested she should try out her workplace.
Helping out with talking to her manager.
Lily's job request was considered two days ago.
Mia
I was at the classical restaurant. I saw this beautiful limo.
Mia
Thought about going in for an instant. But we can't get that money if you continue sleeping all day?
She said, putting on some slight make-up to match with her uniform.
It was of a purple collar T-shirt.
With the coffee shop logo on it at the left side of the shirt.
Mia
Though I just stopped to admired, I was to be meeting with Fred.
Mia
But couldn't help glance at myself at the Limo.
She smiled, remembering her encounter. Mia counted herself lucky. The owner didn't get to see her.
Mia knew the trouble she could have landed herself in.
Lily yawned, opening her eyes slowly.
She asked in a tired tone, rubbing her eyes.
She got off the bed, getting herself prepared for the day's work, ignoring Mia's speech on whatever happened.
She cared less about stuff like that.
Though thankful to Mia, she could put up with her in her two bedroom flat.
And just a week ago , the landlady was not having it funny.
Their one month rent was due, and they had to double their hustle.
Lily thought about relocating since her Mother died a year ago and her father away with someone else ever since she was five.
The good luck charm was never for her as she recounted her misfortunes in the bathroom.
The warmth of the dripping water from the tiny holes of the thick Ash pipe consoled her.
Lily thought about if her mother was to be alive not snatched by the ugly hands of death.
She would further her education, not yet having a college degree.
Though she registered herself in a writing app. Good at novel writing.
There was a particular book she was working on her mini sized HP laptop.
Lily turned off the shower, she was done. Stepping out.
To get dressed, wrapped in her yellow towel.
Lily
What's for breakfast?
Mia
Come over to the kitchen yourself, would you?
She was in the living room, texting her boyfriend, Fred.
These two women gave a touch to creativity in having many rooms when it was just two.
The demarcation and everything could give this two an award on house decor and design.
Basically, structural design.
From the not much needing furnitures, to the fine painting still by them.
It was just simply beautiful.
But it was never necessary on how it looks like to Lily.
As long as, it was shelter. She was used to so many hardship.
Nothing of struggle was new to her.
Lily
Please not that same burnt toast, I beg of you.
Mia only smiled at her words, of course it was the same old burnt toast from yesterday night.
At Roppo Coffee's shop, the workers were busy with their duties, taking orders and serving coffees.
With their customers seating, and more trooping in, individually or in two.
Mia looked at Lily who was attending to a customer behind the counter.
Mia
I'm won't be home for dinner.
She said adding some cream to a coffee.
Lily
You are hanging out with Fred. I guess.
Mia smiled, she was right. Now she wondered when Lily would try giving herself into guys.
Lily had them coming after her but she rejected all offer.
Not when she was still mourning over late fiance. Henry. Who died three years ago. It was a prolonged mourning, Mia kept trying to persuade Lily but she always declined the topic on dating again.
Lily knew no guy could take Henry's place no matter how.
Every guy she came across has tried their possible best but it was not working.
Lily noticed someone, his head was down. Without being served, she was damned curious about this stranger.
Lily
Do you notice the guy on blue?
She asked Mia. who turned to direction she was signalling at.
Mia
Yeah, what about him? you like him huh?
Lily
What? no. He just doesn't look happy.
Lily
I will go talk to him.
Mia
Whoa! easy girl. Someone is making a move.
Mia teased, which she was fond of.
Lily took the order book and pen, walked over to the guy seated alone.
Lily
You need anything, sir?
He was straight with her. He looked not in the good mood for a concerned person, he looked up to her.
At least not her, why her?
Lily
Are you sure about that, sir?
Stan
I'm totally fine. Can't you see that?
Sounding rash, Lily turned to go back to her business.
What prompted her in coming over in the first place, she wondered.
Stan
Look, I'm sorry. Could please sit with me?
Lily turned to him again, nodding. She sat opposite him.
Lily
It's fine, rough day huh?
Stan
Yes, I just lost my job.
Lily
Oh, now I'm sorry. You want to share?
He looked at her with interest, why would someone like her care, not minding who he was.
Stan
I was fired by my boss over some stranger staring at his limo yesterday at Classical restaurant.
Lily's eyes withered, could it be Mia. She remembered Mia saying something of such.
Lily
Could you give me a sec?
She excused herself without waiting for his reply. Going over to the counter, she dragged Mia to the kitchen by the hand.
Mia
We have unattended customers out there, Lily.
Lily
Yes I know, could you remember the Limo you said you liked and kept staring at.
Mia
I thought you weren't listening, yes I solely do.
Lily
Well, someone got fired by his boss. You see that same guy I was talking to. Guessing he's the driver to the owner of the limo.
Mia couldn't help but just laugh, it sounded funny to her.
Mia
There were a lot of cars.
Mia
Stop exaggerating. Lily.
Lily
You are not listening, okay how many limo were there.
Mia
Ten perhaps. I don't know.
Lily
But you stared at just one.
Mia
Oh my God, Yes. he got fired?
Lily
Yes. You got someone fired.
Mia
So what's the big deal, look Lily, leave the guy to his fate.
Lily
No, it's wrong. You have to speak with him.
Mia
Whattt? Tell him, hey, hello! I got you fired by your boss? That's crazy.
Mia
Yes, you always feel of people you don't know Lily. I have to get back to work.
She left Lily, her eyes met with the guy she was talking about. Her heart skipped, she felt guilty but there was nothing she could do.
