DISCLAIMER: The characters appearing in the following short story is a work of total fiction. Any resemblance to the real people, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
It is a really short description of a person's feelings. I wrote this small work only to get opinions on my writing style with no consideration for a proper story line.

Her pitch-black orbs stared into the empty space near the green, thick bushes which had never looked more fabulous than tonight. The rare bright moonlight was shining upon the still wet leaves and grasses grown in the small wild garden which was joined with the old cottage; the twinkling stars spread to the infinity in the night sky combined with the beautiful landscape after an evening thunderstorm was a picturesque view to see.
A sight contrary to the one evident on that awful day.
Without realizing it, her throat suddenly turned dry no sooner than the recollection of those memories hit her out of nowhere. A soft, smooth breeze of the cold air left a cool sensation on her skin, making her conscious of the thick tear which rolled down her cheek before she could wipe it off.
Further curling up herself in a fetus position with her knees pressed up against her chest, she swallowed her saliva in an attempt to hold back the sob which craved to be let out free from her lips.
Through her fogged vision, she saw a blurred figure walking across the pavement in what looked like a formal blazer. Sniffing back her tears before blinking to clear her sight, the silhouette in front of her eyes gradually became clearer—although exactly after that, she wished it never did as the nostalgia crept over her in no time.
'Will you marry me?' The masculine voice still echoed in her ears, making her feel terrible in her own skin. To her, it looked nearly impossible to forget those four words, no matter how much time passed. Maybe she would have already bypassed them two years ago, right after the day she needed to hear them, however, sometimes the same words heard from a stranger are much easier to let go of than hearing them from someone close to us; and those words coming from someone we least expect is enough to make the situation worse.
Feeling her heart heavy in her chest with the burden of guilt and remorse, she burned her head inside her knees, blocking the view of the person she couldn't even dare to look at now; the person whom she thought she would never need to spend her days without. But sometimes, the fate of a person has different plans for them, opposite to their expectations.
"You didn't sleep yet?" A sudden confused voice grabbed her attention out of her bitter memories, making her whip her head towards the source of the sound; a man, around his thirties, removed his double-breasted coat as his eyes were focused on changing his now wet clothes, unaware about the presence of another man in his wife's mind.
Quickly wiping her tears before he could recognize them, she cleared her throat followed by the best smile she could muster up forming on her lips. "Yes, waiting for you only."
Willing herself to close the window with guilt consuming her heart, her eyes fell upon the newlywed couple out of the window, their arms crossed with each other as they talked and laughed together, making her heartache with sorrow.
Who knew that only four words were enough to shatter an assumed unbreakable friendship into pieces, snatching the innocent relation that was previously filled with love and happiness only to be replaced with ignorance and doubts?
But was such a heavy price worth the life she was living now?
If she could, she would've turned back the time, right her wrongs. However, life doesn't give multiple chances to everyone, and now, there was nothing she could do about it other than living a life she had chosen for herself with the memory of her mistakes secured among her recollections.
