At least that’s what they said.
My body was losing all functionality and I had no way to stop it. No cure could or would be found at least not for me.
Doctor
Hey Jin, how are you feeling this fine morning?
Jin
Like I would know. (Sneer)
Doctor
Oh come on. It better to be positive. You never know when the unexpected may happen.
Jin
Oh please we’ve been at this for what... 8 years?
Jin
I’ve never cared for the unexpected. I know what’s gonna happen.
Doctor
But this time might be different. (smile)
Doctor
Come on, it’s time for your check up.
They did this every morning, checking if my condition got any worse then when they checked me the day before.
Doctor
(Sticks in needle and reads vitals)
I was found with a strange disorder where my organs were not where they should be. My heart was on my left side of my chest and my muscles kept crumbling. Nothing was 100% stable in my body not even my brain. They said it was a miracle that I survived even this long.
Doctor
Your vital seem the same as yesterday...
Doctor
Do you have any heavy breathing or hyperventilation? Maybe any aches or pains in your heart or organ area?
Doctor
Ok. (Scribble something down) what about lack of energy or fatigue?
Doctor
See no pains today. Did you take your medicine?
Doctor
Jin, did you take your proscribed medicine?
Jin
(Slowly shakes head no)
Doctor
You have to take your medicine. It what’s keeping you alive right now. (Angry)
Doctor
TAKE YOUR MEDICINE.
Jin
All those medicines are doing is just test after test. I MEAN YOU YOURSELF SAID ITS SO RARE EVEN YOU CANT FIND A CURE. I’ve had enough of your bullsh*t.
Jin
( flip the blankets over his head) Just... go away.
Doctor
Fine. I’ve had enough of you bullsh*t too Jin. (Stood up and walked out of the hospital room)
Jin
When will this be over?
Jin
I’m ready to be done... with everything.
My day passed in the bleak colors of monotone and doctor didn’t come back to see me like he usually did.
Person
5 minutes til lights out. Ok?
Jin
I must’ve pissed him off pretty badly.
The night always seemed to scare me no matter what time I was in. It always seemed to bring out the most pure loneliness one could comprehend. That was terrifying. I wonder why such a thing existed.
Jin
It’s time to sleep anyway.
My eyes closed and I flipped my body towards the window.
Tonight I was gonna sleep and see him tomorrow during morning check ups.
Jin
He would never mis that. Right?
My breath became short and my body shook uncontrollably. I was still half asleep tightening the small amount of grip I had on the medal bars surrounding my hospital bed.
Pain surrounded my body and continue to swallow me. Beeps of machinery and loud voices where drown out by my subconscious.
I couldn’t feel my body. I couldn’t feel the cold bars I was holding or the touch of another human being.
Doctor
Jin. Stay with me Jin. Keep you eyes open.
I was restricted from all five senses. Each one was disappearing slowly from my body.
I was losing everything I had known. Was it for freedom... or maybe for something worse.
Each one of my senses were bargained off for something unknown.
The air that filled my lungs became shallow, creating a burning sensation in my throat. Once again everything stopped.
