"*Knock" A knock was heard at the lady's door, but she remained silent since she wasn't fond of speaking with the house people. "I know you're in there, open the door" her mother shouts while banging on the door.
Yet the girl still stays on her bed staring out the window. Ever since she could see these ghosts she saw the real intention of people. There is a ghost with everyone that would tell her what they actually feel and when they lie they speak the truth for them.
Ever since that day she would stay in her room locked up, and would be mean to the servants. Sometimes they'll come out of the room with bruises the rumors would say. In all honesty she just didn't trust anyone since they would all lie.
Her mother, some would call her, wanted her to benefit the family with her gift/curse. The poor lady wasn't even allowed to leave the house since she was out casted as a "freak".
Even her siblings, a boy at the age of 20 and a girl at the age of 17 would give her nasty looks when she actually did leave her depressing room.
She didn't really care since she knew their true intention anyway. All Aurelia wanted was to leave, to cry out to someone, to have a person who was genuine to her. She knew there was no point in these kinds of thoughts if her own family wouldn't do that much for her.
She gets up feeling empty, and goes in the direction of the door. She was sick of it, she was sick of everything. Aurelia then opens the door to say " Why do you even bother, can you just leave me alone you're nothing more than trash to me" before slamming the door in her mothers face.
'Why won't everyone just leave me alone' she says sitting on her bed crawled up in a ball. 'I hate this, I hate everything.' She wondered and wondered why no one genuinely liked her, had she done something wrong? Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard whispers outside her door.
It was probably the maids talking about her again. This was something that sucked about having better hearing than normal people. She could always hear people talking about her here and there, but to her surprise they were talking about a different topic this time. It was about a festival?
Apparently there was going to be a festival held tonight in honor of the crown prince from another country being engaged to a person of this empire. This was done in order to make and maintain peace with both our empires. No one knew who the fair lady was yet, it was gonna be a surprise for all when she is revealed.
It couldn't be the two princesses of the emperor since they were already married or engaged. The chattering stopped once they were ordered by the head maid to stop their bickering and continue working. This time I was laying in bed wondering if I should attend the festival. Anything would be better than hanging out Here wouldn't it?
I put on some simple clothes and not too expensive jewelry while thinking of a way to jump out the window. That's right, I have some rope in my room from that one time. Hmm… thinking about it you could say wasn't my best time. I tie the rope onto one of the furniture and tightly secure it to make sure I wouldn't fall due to the rope coming off.
I climb down slow by slow making sure I don't fall. Would people even care if I did? The only reason I probably haven't committed suicide yet is to maybe one day get revenge on the people who did me wrong, or was just holding onto some fate that someone would save me from this hell hole.
It could be both at this point. When I finished climbing down from the window using the rope it wasn't night yet, but the sun was going to set soon. The sight would most likely be pretty. I haven't been outside in soo long that the breeze felt refreshing.
I couldn't help, but smile for the first time in a long time. I thought I forgot how to, but I guess I always had it in me. Perhaps, It just wasn't worth making me smile. I'm depressing I know, but is it really my fault that I'm like this?
I couldn't help but enjoy the only freedom I had at this moment. It felt nice not being weighed by your family, being ridiculed everyday. Not having to face people who were fake. She didn't have to worry about any of that now did she.
Not a lot of people knew how she looked besides the house people and her family and few others. That is gonna change soon since she is gonna have to attend her debut ball. More like forced to, but she wanted things to change, she wanted to leave her depressing life and start a better one.
She would have to get rid of this curse now would she. The thing that ruined her life, but helped her see the fake people in her life and opened her eyes. Aurelia was enjoying herself and bought some food she had never seen before.
She may be an outcast, but as a noble she has never eaten anything below the status of a maid, but she didn't eat the best either. She got something that was currently trending with the common folk, it was known as potato chips.
Little did she know it was gonna be her new favorite snack. Of course nothing was gonna beat the steak she got from time to time at the house. 'Are you supposed to pop it open?' I say not sure. I push the bag for there to be a loud popping sound. "Ahh" I screamed from the sudden noise that came from the bag.
It opened? I pulled apart the part that opened to take a chip out of the bag. 'It, it tastes…. AMAZING!' I say while having a face with satisfaction written all over it. I couldn't not like it, it was nothing I tasted before. It was salty, but crunchy and had a nice touch to it all in one.
I eat the bag of chips while looking around the other food stands to come across a place where there was slow burn music playing and people dancing in the center. I couldn't help but want to dance as well, but I'm not sure if I want to*.
^^^ To be continued^^^
Author's note: I'm not very good at describing things so I apologize now for that. Since I have pictures that would look similar to the ml and fl I will be posting that somewhere else. I will be putting those on wottped (ik I spelled it wrong I don't want any copyright claims) my username is the same as it is here MissLovesickgurl. Also I apologize if the book progresses too fast.
Slow and slow the music played, but had soon changed to another. This one was more lively and up beat then the other was. I couldn't help wanting to dance along with the beat.
I finally decide to join the folks people, to see a man who caught my eye. He had a unique look, and it felt a little different from others. Not that I really saw a lot of people to begin with.
Something felt off about him. He was just too careful, and his guard was always up. I couldn't help, but be intrigued, and deliberately stare at him.
He must of felt my staring, because he was slowly heading closer and closer towards me. I tried turning around to leave without being suspicious, but that was nearly impossible.
luckily there was a food stall that was selling potato chips not to far, so I was going to head there, but before I could a hand grabbed my hand making me turn to face them.
It was him! I couldn't help kinda feeling annoyed, however it was my fault to begin with and this was expected. " Umm… do you need something, " I say "wondering".
" I just have a question?" he says, I know I can't control my expressions, but this man was another level. " Why were you staring at me like that."
I reply with to his question with " I-i thought you looked nice, and wanted to dance with y-you, but was too scared to ask." I say shyly in soft voice. I was bad at expressions, but when it comes to lying that was different.
I hated acting all cute, but I had to as a kid if I wanted any respect, but mines was equal to that of a commoner. The only reason I haven't been forced to cook or clean is, because people are scared of me or wanna use me.
I was foolish to think it'd change if I was kind. So I had no reason to pretend for people who won't even give me love even if it was fake. I was brought back to my senses with him saying "then I'd like to accept your dance offer."
Is he serious? Oh I forgot I wore a eye color changer maybe that's why. One of my eyes were blue and the cursed one is purple/black. I used a magical potion that was given to me from my brother as an insult.
I guess I should thank him shouldn't I. " I would like that" I say giving him a fake smile. Surprisingly he was a great dancer. He didn't mess up not once. Should I change that.
I feel as though I should, but I guess I'll enjoy this one. He was kinda hot when you stare at him up close. he had red eyes, with white-ish silvery hair. If I was normal I'd probably be obsessed.
He moved in sync with the movements I made even though I could to the same. It was peaceful, and soothing. The dance had finished not too long after we started. Maybe time flew by fast. I couldn't help, but thank him with a genuine smile.
I really enjoyed my night out and decided that I would head back to the mansion instead of running away. I felt as if I should face my problems head on instead of ignoring them.
I danced with a woman who looked relatively pretty. I couldn't help, but find her suspicious. She danced as if she was a noblewoman which made her even more questionable.
I didn't know why, but I felt a weird feeling or sensation around her. When the dance finished I wanted to ask her for her name, however she was already gone.
I was planning on trying to find her, but I let her be as if I knew we'd meet again. She was just like me anyway.
(Back to Aurelia pov for anyone confused)
Before he could start questioning things I left as fast as I could. It must've worked since there was no one after me. I have to hurry and get home before midnight since security gets really tight by then.
I reached home to find the rope somewhat damaged and broken in half after getting past the guards. Was it this easy to get past security? They need to hire better people.
That had nothing to do with me so I don't care. Luckily there was a tall tree across my window that wasn't too far in distance. I quickly climbed the tree, to try to jump from the tree branch to the inside of the window.
I reached that point and was gonna jump, but then I heard some noises. It was a cat!? Supposedly it was stuck there and was afraid to get down. I decide to hold it close to me while dusting it off a little.
I prepared myself and jumped to the other side with the cat and made it inside. I put the cat down and was heading in the direction of the window to close it.
To my surprise there was a group of men on horses, but one somewhat seemed familiar, because of a certain cape. The maids were something about there going to be a visitor later on.
Isn't this too late of a time to be visiting? I brush it off and continue what I originally was gonna do and shut the window. I turn around to see the cat on my bed laying there meowing.
I felt as though it was hungry, but wasn't sure why I just did. Does this mean I have to leave my room to get some milk for it. It's such an inconvenience, but I have no other choice.
I reassured the cat that I'd be back and with that I left the room closing the door behind me. I did change out of the clothes I was wearing to a simple night gown.
I was just gonna act like I didn't know the guest was here and with that i'll be able to avoid them for sure. There were so many freaking stairs I knew the mansion was big, but still.
My feet are still kinda aching from before. Running that fast for such a long distance is tiring. I head to the kitchen, for some reason I didn't run into anyone.
Were they in a meeting or something? Well it's better for me this way I don't have to see their faces and force a smile. I couldn't help, but be happy at that thought. So much for facing my problems head on huh.
