There lived a couple who eloped from home to stay together against the wishes of the family. The couple had no job, yet they earned their daily bread with hard work. They rented a small apartment to live in and stayed happily though they had nothing except unconditional love for each other.

They soon learn that they are pregnant and were very much happy as they have been awaiting for the baby because they stayed childless for three years.

The couple were the topic of people's ridicule as they remained childless. On the day of pregnancy discovery the couple could not stop the happy tears running down their cheeks.

The pregnant wife of the man would crave for sour Tamarind and sweet cakes. The man without any complaint bought everything that his pregnant wife craved. The wife with her little baby bump would go to jungle to fetch the fire wood for cooking their meal.

The woman's husband had been in army before he left the job as he could not bear to stay away from his girlfriend, presently wife fearing that his pretty girlfriend would be taken away by some other guys when he was far off in other states. To be with her, he left the job which earned him enough and now he was jobless.

His wife's relative who had a job in capital took pity over the couple as they were jobless with baby on the way. The woman's relative called the man to come along with her to go in search of a job for him.

When the man was in army, he learned driving which qualified him to search for the driver post. Getting job was not easy during that time so the wife's relative and the man applied in every driver vacancy.

The daily routine of women was to cook, clean, wash clothes, wash utensils, sweep the house and fetch fire wood from the jungle, sometimes her husband helped her. And the man as usual went with the wife's relative for job hunting.

All this daily routine went on and on until one day, when the wife was ready to go to the jungle for fetching fire wood, her stomach ached as if someone was hitting her. Her bamboo basket was left lying on the kitchen floor, and she kept on thinking that today is the due time. As she took time to rest, she became moveable and she did not have any signs of giving birth at the moment so she went to fetch the fire wood in the jungle during the day time.

The same night when the husband returned home, he saw his wife preparing dinner for them, the wife stewed yam with chicken, prepared boil and rice with salads. They chatted about the day and relished the meal. Later they laid down on the bed for the rest as their day was tiring. In early hour of night, the wife was seized with labour pain. As hospital was out of the league for them, the couple settled for a normal delivery. The husband called the neighbourhood grandma to take care of his wife and he went outside the room living the neighbourhood grandma and his wife alone in the room. He was nervous that something or the other would go wrong with his wife and the baby. He prayed to God seeking help as he moved to and fro for long time waiting for the successful delivery.

The man wanted to accompany his wife in labour and he felt even more painful when he heard his wife screaming and crying for long time but he could do nothing, except wait to get over. Finally, after a long wait he heard the cries of the baby and was moved to tears.

The wife after the delivery was left with no strength and some minutes later saw her husband come with a bowl of porridge to feed her. while the husband feed the woman, the neighbourhood grandma took hold of baby and cut off the umbilical cord. The baby born to the couple was a girl, both the husband and the wife cried a happy tears after seeing their love baby.

The baby born to the couple weight 3kg, pink and purplish skin colour with bald head and big round eyes. The baby was finally given to the mother to breastfeed after all the cleaning and wrapping warm clothes around the baby was done. The neighbourhood grandma left the couple's house after she made sure everything was alright.

The husband cleared everything and after checking the condition of his wife and the baby, he finally laid to rest for the night. The next morning, the couple woke up with smile on their faces as they could not help themselves from smilling as they have been immensely blessed with their long awaited baby girl. They couple sent a message to both their families in the village about the birth of the baby girl.

The baby was named Erin by her paternal grandma and Yaya by maternal grandma. Erin grew healthy as days passed by. Erin turned fair, chubby and her head grew hair as her mother shaved the head of a newly born baby.

Erin's birth brought happiness to the couple and within no time, the man was blessed with a government job which he desired and waited for a long time. Erin was seven months old when her father got the job.

On the day of Erin's birthday, the maternal grandma and uncle came to visit the baby and the couple with plentiful of harvest. When grandma and uncle saw Erin, they were overjoyed and they could not help but regret for not coming earlier as their village was far away from the town and their family income was earned through everyday labour.

The maternal grandma and uncle stayed with Erin and the couple for some few weeks after celebrating Erin's 1st birthday. Grandma and uncle set off to village assuring the couple that they will come to visit them next time along with the harvest. The family departed with sadness as it would take atleast a year before they meet again.
