The year was 2001 Neon was ten at the time and picking raspberries with his father in their backyard ditch. "Hey dad, I heard the circus is in town!" Neon says while reaching for a raspberry. "Let me guess, you want to go?" His father asks, "Only I-if it's ok with y-you…?" Neon says His father then got an idea in mind. "Sure, we can go!" he says slyly, "YAY!!" Neon shouts and hugs his father. Later that night, Neon and his father hop in the truck and drive to the circus grounds. Neon and his father then walks to the entrance where they got their tickets and walked to the big tent in the center where the main acts were being held. Neon and his father both took their seats and saw that on display was a two-headed clown, one of the heads were named John and the other one was Bethany. Neon felt sad for them since people were laughing and throwing dirt at them. Neon's father then decided it was time to put his plan into action. He walks outside the tent after telling Neon to stay put and talks to the ringmaster about selling Neon to the circus for about ten thousand. The ringmaster asks what Neon could do to entertain people. "Well, he can sing and dance." Neon father replies. "Good enough." the ringmaster says, and they shake hands and head to the ringmaster's trailer, where Neon's dad is handed a briefcase full of money. Neon's dad then walks to his car and drives home, leaving Neon behind. After the performance, everyone starts to leave and so does Neon, but the ringmaster stops him and pulls him backstage while Neon starts yelling for his dad. Then Neon is thrown into a cage beside John and Bethany. Bethany then tells Neon he should be quiet, or the ringmaster would inject him with a sleeping shot. So Neon tries to keep it down, but the tears keep on falling from his eyes until he fell asleep. At around one in the morning, the ringmaster wakes Neon up and injects him with a shot to make his body numb and takes him to a tent, where Neon passes out as soon as the ringmaster pulls out a scalpel. When Neon wakes up, he feels a sharp pain in his lower back. "So you're finally awake, How do you feel?" the ringmaster asks Neon and pulls out a mirror where Neon looks and sees a boy with pink hair, yellow eyes and bright-colored clothes. "W-what happened to me?" Neon asks, "I fixed you to make you look more appealing to the crowd." the ringmaster happily says. "Oh, my dearest apologies, I have a show I must run!" he says and walks out of the tent. "So, what's your name, kid?" John asks, "My names N-neon..." Neon replies and looks around for an escape. "That's a nice name, my name used to be Mathew until the ringmaster forced it to be John..." He says to Neon. Just then a group of men walks in with handcuffs and place them on each of the deformed entities including Neon. The men then take them to the circus train and place each act in their own train carts, but place Neon in the same cart as John and Bethany since he didn't have his own yet. Just then the train started to move after the tents and everything was placed in the back carts. "W-where are they taking us?" Neon asks Bethany. "They are taking us to the next place we are suppose to preform." She tells Neon, Once they got to the location, the men started to set up the tents and other things while Neon watched from the barred windows briefly. The men then walked over and brought out their cages and placed each act in them and rolled them into the tent. "I need to find a way to get out of here." Neon thought as nighttime fell down upon them.

John and Bethany asked neon what's the matter while fiddling with the cage lock. "I need to find a way home..." Neon says crying. John and Bethany agree and manage to unlock the cage. They then quickly rush to Neon's to work on his lock. Just then, the men came back and began to restrain John and Bethany. John and Bethany were quickly put back into their cage, scared and not wanting to be touched. Then morning came afterwards, and The ringmaster walked up to John and Bethany's cage. John and Bethany looked scared and refused to obey the ringmaster. The ringmaster said that Today was the day that Neon preformed. John and Bethany tried to reason with the ringmaster into letting them perform instead of neon. "Silence!!!" The ringmaster yelled and walks over and undoes Neon's cage. John and Bethany silenced real fast, but looked at Neon worried. Then Neon is dragged to the stage. John and Bethany watch from the sidelines to see how this would end up. Neon then walks on stage and sees rows of people looking at him, so he does what he did best, he sang and danced. John and Bethany sigh a sigh of relief, knowing this would not be as bad as their performances ended up. Neon then takes a bow and is brought backstage and locked up again. Once in the cage, John and Bethany happily clap for neon and congratulates him on his beautiful voice. Neon smiles and asks what they did for their act, "w-well we are mostly m-made fun of, we're basically the freaks of the circus" they say sadly. Then Neon starts to feel tired but still stays up to watch the next act, which was John and Bethany, John and Bethany sadly go out to the stage only to be laughed at and called a two-headed freak, but they stayed strong and prayed for their act to end. The act soon ends, and they are locked up once more. John and Bethany soon fall asleep, but before they do, they tell neon tonight as the night he should escape since they overheard the ringmaster say he was going to harm him. So Neon starts looking for an escape while they sleep. John and Bethany try to keep an eye on Neon as they sleep, as Neon sits for a minute to think. Just then, John and Bethany toss him a paper clip to try and pick the lock. Neon then bends the paper clip and starts to work, while John and Bethany tell him once he gets his cage unlocked to run away as fast as he can and dare not to look back. "But I want to free you two as well." he says after getting the lock undone. John and Bethany shake their heads, "you can't the ringmaster will come after you, but we can keep him from you to buy you time" they said while Neon got ready to run. He then sprints way into the woods while The men chase after him as the ringmaster gets into a clown car. John and Bethany beg the ring master to not go after Neon since they would work twice as hard. The ringmaster ignores them and starts to follow the men into the woods, Neon was still running until he came across a large stream. Chase was tired of listening to his dad, so he went to his calming spot the large stream he called "Bayous" and notices neon swimming across while the men swam after him. Chase sees the men and quickly jumps into the river and grabs Neon running him back to his house as fast as his legs would go.
