Ren was writing a chapter in his desktop.
The story was called 'Tuning, Ready', it was about a teen who has a big passion for guitar and found a dog to help them motivate themself.
As usual, the story was comforting and filled with good vibes along with great writing and metaphors, which made it popular and very liked by a lot of people online.
"Dammit, I swear I had one line in mind," said Ren, scratching the back of his neck.
He stared at the screen, then mumbled a few words to get the right one.
"Definition.. Feeling... Lots of meaning- Meaningful!"
He pressed the backspace on his keyboard and paused to rewrite the words and add in the word he found.
Once he was done, he hovered his cursor over to the 'publish' button, then clicked.
He leaned back in his chair and sighed in relief, then stretched his arms.
He got up and arched his back to stretch it too. He's been on that chair for hours, but it was worth it for the 'interestingly interesting enough' story.
He walked to his kitchen to get a cup of coffee.
He took the kettle and poured the coffee into his mug. He stirred it with a teaspoon before drinking it.
Just then, he got 20 notifications already popping up in his phone. He took the phone out his pocket and turned it on to see commenters and likes appearing already.
He sat down on the couch and took a book from the shelf to read.
30 minutes later, his phone buzzed so much with notifications that it looked like it was about to explode.
He sighed and put the book down to turn the phone back on.
There were comments appearing, such as 'amazing as always!', 'so wholesome and calming', 'makes my day', or 'whats on the next chap?' and hundreds more. Having 700,000 followers on the media had both relieving and annoying sides.
He cleared his notifications, but then one last would appear.
'TiredCloud liked your chapter.'
"Oh hello again," the brunette thought. It's him. The one who likes his stories, but never comments anything. Yeah he knows there are people who just likes and not comments, but in his routine, every reader that likes, comments too.
But not TiredCloud.
Ren found him quite odd, it's been a year and he hasn't said a single thing.
He once followed Cloud back and tried to say hi to him in the direct messages, but his message would just get liked instead of replied to. He's a much more chill fan than the others.
Ren turned his phone off after dismissing the notification and picked his book up again, then continued reading.
The brunette was running late to school again the next morning.
He quickly put on a sweater along with his backpack and ran downstairs.
"Bye aunt Lan!" he greeted his aunt as he was about to exit out the door.
"Hold on now," Lan said, stopping him, "Eat some toast or something."
Ren sighed and ran to the table to shove a piece of toast in his mouth, then muffled "See ya!" as he ran back out the door.
Lan laughed at the kid she had to raise.
Ren, now outside, ran towards the bus station and yelled for the bus driver to stop, but they already drove away.
He panted and face palmed, then sat on the seat.
While he was waiting for the next bus to arrive, a boy with a face mask came walking by to wait as well.
Ren, being the friendly person he is, waved at him while smiling, but the boy just looked away and sat down on the seat nearby.
"He's probably just shy" thought the brunette.
He looked at the lamp post and whistled to let the time pass by.
When he looked back at the boy, he was tucking his hands under his legs and looking down to the ground.
"Do you have a cold?" asked Ren, looking at the mask. The boy slightly jolted up and just looked back away. It almost looked like he was sulking.
This was quite interesting. Ren had met shy people before, but not this shy. Or maybe the boy just isn't the friendly type?
Finally another bus arrived.
They both got up while picking up their bags. Ren walked in, with the boy following behind.
Once they were in, the sat on the seats in front of each other and put their bags back down.
The bus would start driving along the road with just the two of them as the passengers.
It was silent, of course, for the rest of the ride. Ren glanced at the boy and wanted to talk to him again, but the boy noticed him looking and quickly hid his face with his phone.
The brunette then got quite a better look at him. How interesting, he's never seen someone with such grey eyes and hair before.
The bus eventually arrived at the school after 20 minutes.
The door opened, letting Ren out, along with the boy following him.
He ran into the school gates, rushing up the stairs and opening to the door to his classroom, catching the attention of his classmates and teachers.
"You're late for the 6th time," said the teacher. "Sorry," the brunette replied, "it won't happen again."
The teacher then spotted the boy behind him. "You too, Jin."
The boy, Jin, scratched the back of his neck as he and Ren made their way to their seats.
The teacher picked up the marker and carried on with the lesson.
The bell rang, that's when the students would jolt up from their seats and come running out the classroom. They all ran into the cafeteria.
Ren, with now a tray of food, sat on an empty table, waiting for his friend.
A black haired girl then approached the table he was in.
"Hey Jae," Ren greeted. "Hiya" the girl, Jae, replied, sitting down beside him.
A few more students who considered to be his friend sat in his table as well. He was quite popular due to his friendliness
They all greeted him before eating, then chatted for the rest of the period.
Ren looked around the corner and spotted Jin, looking for a table to sit at.
He sat in an empty table all alone.
"That's Jin?" the brunette asked, pointing at him. Jae put her cup down, "Yeah, you don't have to bother talking to him though."
"Why not?"
Jae sighed and adjusted her beanie. "Everytime anyone tries to communicate or interact with him, he just sulks."
Ren smiled while getting up from his seat. "I'll give it a try." Jae shrugged, "Good luck I guess."
Ren approached his table while the students watched him.
"Hi there," he started. Jin just quickly looked away like before.
"You look lonely.. Mind if we join you?" Ren continued.
Jin, still looking away, pretended to drink from his water bottle.
Ren sighed, but sat beside him. "I'm Ren."
Jin glanced at him before looking down at his tray, still not responding.
Ren looked at him, confused, "Are you.. Mute?"
Jin slightly flinched and looked back away from him.
"Oh- that's alright, maybe we can chat in another way?"
Jin took something out of the pocket of his hoodie, but he put it back. To Ren, it seemed like he was nervous.
"Um, we can talk another time, if you're okay with it."
Jin glanced at him again, then finally nodded.
Ren smiled once again. "Alright! See you around?"
Another nod.
"Okay!"
Ren got up and walked back to his table, with the students surprised.
"How'd you get him to nod??" asked one of them.
"I just asked him questions" replied Ren. Jae chuckled. "I don't know what you do, but you can literally befriend anyone."
The brunette smiled. "The small talk with Jin was only the beginning."
