Parallel Lies
Chapter I
7 o'clock, she checked the time. It was quite late although she couldn't help but disregard the time. The season was cold for korea, near to winter — she'll turn older again.
Smoke puffed out as she breathed, her fingers were cold as she tried to warm them up. The moon's warmth wasn't enough to make her feel comfortable under this weather.
However the pleasing silence she had and the lonliness of the park — she had the place all to herself. A place where problems wouldn't bother her, a small space for lost people.
Dal Hyun-Woo
Oh, Akaari? Akaari seonbae.
*Seonbae (선배, 先輩) is used to address senior colleagues or mentor figures relating to oneself.
Akaari Lee
I told you to cut off the seonbae part!
Akaari Lee
Akaari is fine, it's not like I'm any older than you anyways.
Akaari Lee
I'm just a grade level older, no?
Dal Hyun-Woo
Akaari noo-na.
*누나 (nuna; noona) Literal meaning: “older sister” Is also used to call: A female friend or a female sibling who's older than you (as a male).
Akaari merely rolled her eyes, how stubborn — she thought. Hyun-Woo then accompanied her on the swings.
The rust that grinded as they swinged their feet above the ground, they've been one another's late night buddies.
Dal Hyun-Woo
Akaari it's already 8, what's going on?
Akaari Lee
I'm not going home.
She remarked in a calm tone, Dal Hyun-Woo immediately took the motiv. She wasn't just 'fine.'
Dal Hyun-Woo
You know you can't run away.
Akaari, as she listened to his words. " True. " She couldn't run away from her problems, she could fix it. But should she really? She wasn't ready to sacrifice that many things yet.
Akaari Lee
You keep reminding me of the words I keep repeating in my head.
Akaari Lee
I know, Dal. I know.
Laying her head against the chain that held the swing, Hyun-Woo stood up from his seat and walked infront of her. The look of pity painted his face, he wanted to help — but the effort was too risky to be done.
Akaari slowly closed her eyes however she felt one's palm over her head. Looking up, it was him. The moon, he was the moon. He looked like the moon. He looked perfect.
She grumbled a little " hm...? " clearly tired as her eyes were hazy. Eyelids that nearly fell on its own, — Dal Hyun pulled her head over as he let her lean on his chest.
Dal Hyun-Woo
Are you okay, Akaari?
He finally asked the question.
Akaari couldn't help but to burst into tears, gripping his jacket as if she desperately wanted to run away. Dal Hyun could feel her tears drop despite the cold.
Dal Hyun-Woo, a great wise man ; couldn't figure out what was wrong with her.
Akaari Lee
It's getting harder to breath in there. Their words start to be intoxicating, the air slowly becomes suffocating— what did I do to live so miserably?
Her eyes pooled with tears as it ran down to her red cheeks forming a pond on the tip of her chin.
