Rosè knew that she was going to be in big trouble. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Deirs, sitting across the table with puzzled faces. "We found this in your drawer as i was arranging your desk" said Mrs Deirs as she placed a pack of cigarettes on the table. "How long have you been hiding this from us?" asked Mr Deirs as he picked the pack and checked if she has been using them, anger was written on his face when he found three pieces were missing.

"I don't know," said Rosè as she bowed her head down, wondering when the discussion would end. "What!" her father exploded, as he stood up from his seat and walked towards her. "What do you mean you don't know, you been using this!" he shouted in anger. "I said i don't know, OKAY!" she shouted back as she got up from her seat and marched upstairs, into her room and banged the door shut.

Mr Deirs walked to her door and knocked on it. "Open the door, Rosè, open it, i say!" he screamed

There was no response. Mrs Deirs went upstairs and pulled him back gently. "Calm down, she come out eventually" she said in a soft, calming voice. He was so annoyed that he could not stay in the house, he stormed out of the house.

It was 11:50 pm, when Rosè decided to sneak to her best friend, Matt's house for the night. After packing everything she needed in her monkey bag, she slowly unlocked and opened her door and tip-toed downstairs to the backdoor in the kitchen. Rosè sighed in relief as she got out of that ' prison ' called ' home '. Walking down the most dangerous alleys, if you were under eighteen in that town, was illegal but she didn't care. It was the only shortcut to Matt's house.

An awkward feeling filled the atmosphere. Taking out the packet of cigarettes she took that her father left on the table, liting it with a lighter she took from her backpocket and started smoking.

"Finally" she said as she arrived at his house, jumping over the fence that was hip level. "Matt" she shouted softly, from the backyard near his window, not wanting to wake up his parents. Still there was no response, she took a small rock near her and threw it to his window.

The window slowly opened, there stood Matt. "Girl, it is midnight, what are you doing here?" he whispered as he rubbed his eyes."Just shut up and pull down a rope or something for me to climb" said Rosè in a low voice. Luckily, he had a rope under his bed, he lowered it down the window and hold it for her to climb.

"So, why are you here?" he asked again, sitting on his bed. Matt was the only friend she trusted since they met in grade two. He had long black hair, a cruel-looking face and brown souless eyes but Rosè rather had a friendly face with dark hair reaching her shoulders, covering her light blue eyes and pink lips, had pale skin and a slim body. She had the height of a basketball player but Matt was a few inches taller than her. They were the only Asian looking kids in their neighborhood so it made them quite popular.
