A nurse came running beside her after hearing the flat line tone of the machine that's monitoring her vitals.

Oh no! Not again! She's still too young. Don't give up on me girl.

Come on, girl wake up! Keep fighting! Don't die on me! The Doctor will arrive here soon!
The nurse tried resuscitating her couple of times but to no avail. All she's left to do now is to announce her time of death. The lack of manpower in their hospital causes the huge number of people dying from the pandemic.

Arghhh! Water! I need some water.

Thank God there's water near my bed.

A sudden severe headache came to her and Shiloh fainted.

Food... food...food....

luckily I know basic cooking in my past life I don't think this boy knows how to cook.
Waylen slowly explored the small house until he finds the kitchen.

that's nice, the bathroom is connected to the house. and they even have a toilet bowl though it's made out of wood. well better to have something than nothing. I'll just think of it like I'm living in a trailer where I'm using a composting toilet like those people I've seen on earth before.

I remembered in Waylen's memories this world have four seasons as well. But in other place, there's five seasons where the fifth one is the time when sand storm happens.
Waylen
Sheesh thinking of the sand storms and all that sand. that sounds troublesome as hell. I'm still lucky I got to this place instead.
Waylen
Let's see what we got here. Hmm a loaf of bread, two eggs, a small bag of meat jerky and some fruits and vegetables.

This kid really doesn't cook. This vegetables seems to be the bad harvest from their backyard garden that he couldn't sell.

All I could remember was that Waylen's parents died because of the bandits that attacked the village. And he luckily survive because some adventurers came just in time to fight off those bandits.

That happened a month ago. 🤔 He only knows how to sell the harvested vegetables but he hasn't tried blacksmithing up until now because of his parents death.

I wonder how did this body died and how did I get here?
Waylen's stomach grumbles again.

yeah yeah you belly worms. I know I'm hungry. I guess it's no use in thinking about this stuff right now since I don't know how I'll find my answers to it.

Lemme just heat up some water. I need something warm to drink at least.
Waylen starts moving around the kitchen ready to heat up some water.

How am I suppose to light this stove? Since this kid doesn't cook he doesn't have a memory of lightning up some fires with those flints. 😑

hmmmm. oh sheesh! I have basic elemental magic skill! Why did my forgetfulness even come and accompany me on this world. I wonder if I could use that.

I see... so basic elemental magic consist of wood, land, air, fire and water.

I now know I can use fire but there's no freaking manual or tutorials on how I could use this magic!

Waylen tried to remember how fire looks like and how it feels
He felt something inside his body like a mild warm electrical current flowing inside him traveling to his palm then a small ball of fire appeared.

Wait, wait... it would be embarrassing to use this skill if I have to say stuff before this magic appears. Can I just do it without saying anything?
Waylen first light up the woods and heat up his water before he continue experimenting on his skills.

So I can put out the fire if I thought I don't need it anymore. 🤔

Okay let's try summoning fire without saying anything.
Waylen started imagining a fire like he just did earlier and the fire appeared again.
Waylen tried the other elemental skills after that and few minutes later....

Shoot! I think I over did it. practicing magic with empty stomach sure is not a good idea.
Waylen
I feel light-headed. I should eat first and sleep since it's already dark.
Waylen
Tomorrow I'll start checking whether I can do blacksmithing and try out the storage and appraisal skills.

they both came in and Waylen started to heat up some water while hiding from Ceciline how he turned on the fire.
after setting up the fire and water he walk towards the table where Ceciline placed the knife.
He look at it and surely it's handle is in a bad state.

did your mom want a specific type of wood for the handle?

she didn't say anything about it. so I guess anything will do.

I'll fix it after I have breakfast.

I prefer to work alone for now. I haven't done blacksmithing in a long time so I want to get comfortable with it first.

while waiting for the water to boil, he washed his face and starts checking the things he needed and asked Ceciline some prices of things in town that she might have an idea how much.
