It was 4:00 pm when Mr. Stevan left the meeting and received a call from his wife Clara saying that a tragedy had happened.  He went home as quickly as possible, trying to understand what had happened.  When he saw that terrible scene in his garden surrounded by people trying to understand what was happening too. hearing them ask themselves: where's the ambulance that doesn't arrive?  sad boys, what a tragedy!

Clara was bloody, crying, with her eldest son, John, on her unconscious lap.  While the youngest son, David, was stretched out, with his head all bloodied, beside the lawn mower.

The police were already on their way to investigate the details, while the ambulance took the two unconscious boys to the emergency room. Mr. Stevam tried to reassure his wife, but she was in shock and needed to be relieved. Leaving the mystery to what had actually happened in that garden, no one was sure what happened. Some neighbors said that the two playing while others said that John was mowing the grass and David played with the ball, which can have caused the accident.

David had to go to the operating room, he was seriously injured.  While Clara was recovering to give a statement of what happened, the nurse interrupted to give painful news.  David couldn't resist, he had an intense asthmatic attack, due to the impact on the chest area, affecting part of the lung, he died of respiratory failure. The parents ran to see the son, the mother cries over the son's body, while the father tried to be strong.  At that moment Clara did not want to hear about police conducting investigations, she just wanted to be with the son she loved so much.  It was 4 am when Mr. Stevan got the news that David was in the ICU.  He fervently asked that no one notify his wife.  At that moment he started to despair, when a patient saw his sadness he said to be calm the boy would recover, for him to have faith, miracles always happened. Estevam didn't know where that guy came from, but it brought him peace and certainty that David would survive.

Estevão's sister Rose stayed in the hospital taking care of her nephew while the parents were preparing for the funeral.  Clara was crying when she remembered that she would never see her son again, that she couldn't give him the birthday present she wanted so much, not to mention the love, the sadness that it was to lose her son.

The church was full of neighbors, friends, relatives, colleagues who came to pay their last tribute to John.  A young boy who was so supportive and participative in the community, a brilliant student, who loved to compose and make beautiful melodies for his lyrics, a true prodigy. It was too early to say, but the police still wanted answers to what had happened.  Clara's testimony was postponed for days, as soon as the funeral was over, investigator Robert went after her to gather information that even her husband did not know.

Clara went to the police station and said that she did not remember what happened with rich details, only the boys would know how to inform.  In his version of the story she said: I was working on a new project and David was making a lot of noise in his room and I insistently asked him to stop it, everything was silent for a few minutes, then John appears saying that he would rehearse in the garage  with your friends and I said it was better to leave it for another day.  He went downstairs to tell his friends, I could see him saying goodbye to his colleagues through the window.  About mowing the grass was something new he was trying, me had already warned him that he didn't want it with cut, but he said he was making the garden more beautiful, he had planted some flowers, he liked to be busy doing new things.  I didn't see the hour David left.  When I realized I heard the boys scream and desperate I was screaming, the neighbors showing up, I called my husband and then emergency, I don't know who called the police! I believe it was a domestic accident and some neighbors know more details than I do. She, like everyone else, wanted to know how that tragedy was caused.

Two days later Clara discovered that David was in intensive care trying to recover, as if he was afraid to open his eyes and face reality.

David was ten years old, a few months ago something had happened that was bothering him, that's what Estevam said to Clara, making her reconsider her son's problem, she thought the boy was causing the confusion. Gradually David recovered, his parents exchanged work during the day and night, hoping that soon he would wake up and go home. The mother was eager to discover the true story.

Clara was looking out the window when she heard David groaning, as if he woke up from a nightmare, half astonished asked for his brother: where's Jonh, where's my brother, I want to see him. Impressed Clara approaches with tears in her eyes and takes her son's hand without saying a word, just crying. He continued to insist asking his mother for his brother, until she replied: unfortunately he is no longer here with us. Agitated David tries to get out of bed, while his mother called the doctor he shouted saying: I need to get out of here, I need to see John!

He was medicated and went back to sleep again.

After a few days, the boy was discharged from the hospital, he was depressed, he did not mention the matter of what happened, he ate almost nothing.  His parents preferred to remain silent and not talk about it.
