“What the hell are you guys doing…?”

Shin just realized three Swordsman who came with him to raid the Demon Emperor Castle, thrusting his heart. One of them said, “Sorry, Shin, we can't let you live after this”. The other one said, “We don't need another monster to be killed”. “Sorry…”, the last one only can say that.

This raiding party consists of one thousand humans, led by Shin. But other than Shin there are ten main generals who are the main part of Shin party members. Shin then looked at the other seven party members. All of them were afraid looking at him and focus to kill the Demon Emperor.

“Curse you all…”

This is the last word of human heroes, Shin.

“Welcome back Shin”.

Shin opened his eyes, hearing someone calling his name.

“Let's see., your achievement is quite good, you almost killed the Demon Emperor in only three years. This is the first time for the human hero I sent to another world, congratulation”.

“You are…?”

Shin got confused, he doesn't remember the one in front of him.

“Ahh. Right, you never see me in this form. I am the god who summoned you back then”.

The God changes his form again following Shin's memory of him. This form is a small boy with black hair.

Shin finally recognized the God in front of him. He asked him,

“So, I will come back here again after I die, what will happen now God?”

“Well, with your achievement, I can give you two choices now. First, just wait and retire with the other hero in the void, or go back to that world again. Of course, it will be boring to repeat the process, only this time, why not join the Demon Emperor Army? I will let you bring all your abilities, just have fun there”. With a wicked smile, God said this to him.

Shin replied confusedly, “Is it okay for a God to say that to me? I think Demon is your enemy”.

The God has smiled again. “Do you know who created that Demon Emperor? It is me, the creator of that world and all of the entities in there. Do you know why I send you there? It is only to entertain me”.

Hearing this, Shin is angered because all of the time he works hard day by day, pain, and sadness. All of the things he experienced in that world are only to entertain this God.

“You're crazy”.

Shin realized he still had the ability from his last life. Without thinking, he runs to face the god and tries to punch him with all power he got. The God still keeps his posture straight and doesn't do anything special. Shin's punch bounced back and hit him with the same force he used.

“You know it is futile trying to fight me. Now make your choice, will you stop entertaining me, or go to that world again and entertain me again? Maybe after training for one thousand years, you can land a hit on me”.

Shin is still angered and said, “Hell you! Send me back to that world first, I still have to punish all that screw party members first, and then I will settle my business with you, so be sure to prepare to wash your neck until I finished!”

The God just smiles, he doesn't mind Shin's word, in his opinion, it is the same with dog bark. He then said, “Very well then, I will wait till the times come”.

Shin's vision is then blank and leaves him unconscious.

Splash, Shin's got woken up because his face got wet from water. “What the hell are you doing!” Shin's got angry, but the one who splashes him with water angrily back, “How dare you yelled at me! I will cut your neck!”. The man unleashes his sword and tries to slash Shin's neck.

A second before that man stab him, Shin finally fully open his eyes and avoid that slash.

“You have finally woken up, it is time to work, go wash your face!”. As the man said that, he then left the room.

Shin stands up and looked around. He realized he is in a barn and the man who woke him up is a human.

So, I got a new body this time.

Shin then recollects the memory of the body owner. A slave demon who got died because of starvation.

Pathetic.

But, then he realized that this demon actually belong to Shapeshifter-Demon race. As it race's name said, this race can change his physical appearance to anything as long they want.

Unluckily, this body owner is just low leveled demon, so he can't erase his demonic aura while using it. That's why he can be captured, but if it is a high-level Shapeshifter-Demon, he will be able to blend in with the human race.

He then realized that time has changed, he is now right around after the Demon Emperor got killed. The leftover demon army got a slave mark, and he is now actually one of them.

Humans enslave a demon army to replace a human slave system. The slave can't fight back against their owner because there is a slave magic mark applied to their body. When the slave attacks the owner, their body will automatically get stunned for ten minutes. This is enough time to decide the slave's fate.

“Cheap trick”.

Shin easily removes the mark.

What should I do now?

Just a second after he removes the slave mark and fully regains his right, an alarm rings. “Intruders, intruders, there is a Demon in the southeast of the town. All soldiers, go and get rid of it now!”. The alarm is so loud and got noticed by all the townspeople.

Since when was this town so advanced to have a demon alarm?

Shin then changes his appearance to the human race and conceals his demon aura. He doesn't want to attract attention right now.

It is a shame that his owner sees Shin remove the slave mark and understands that the situation he faces is really bad. He is trying to run and called for help. Sadly, just a moment before he open his mouth, Shin cast an ancient space spell that warps him to another town.

Shin has policies, he will not kill anyone as long as they are not a threat to him. He will repay kindness with kindness and enmity with enmity. In the past, when there are someone who make a problem with him, he instantly killed those people. This is why he chooses not to retired to entertain that crazy god. He wants to make a payback with all of his party members.

Now, before he can go out of the owner's house yard, one of the soldiers who search for the demon show up out of nowhere in front of him.

“Did you see that demon?”

He asked Shin. They don't know the exact location where that demon appears. They only know that demons appear southeast of the town.

Shin shook off his head.

“Don't go out until the situation clear, or you will be got killed”

After saying this, that soldier runs again looking for the demon.

Shin goes back to the house. Walking around the town only makes him suspicious right now. Just a moment before he entered the house, the door opened. A beautiful slim old female human appears. Shin assumes this is the owner's wife.

“Aa! Who are you? What are you doing here?”

This is a normal response when you meet a stranger.

Sigh… just go sleep.

Shin cast a basic sleep spell on her and bring her inside to sleep on the bed. He is glad that there is nobody else inside the house. He still has much time and nobody will disturb him here. So now, he just sits on the floor and began analyzing the situation. He should make a plan about what to do next.

While sitting on the house floor. Shin trying to think again about what to do next. He's trying to recollect memory from the demons he possesses right now.

After some time, he grasps the current situation.

The town he resides right now is called Corsalin. This is one of Humankind's main towns where the majority of the citizen is a trader. As said before, it is only around the time the Demon Emperor got killed. Exactly, just around one year after that great war. The human race now can re. The high-level demon is exterminated, while the other leftover demons got captured as slaves. With the collapse of the demon clan, now the majority of land on the continent is possessed by a human.

Shin's death is covered with the story that he's using his trump card, a forbidden ancient spell that traded his own life to die together with the Demon Emperor. His heroic story is known all around the world.  He is titled one of the legendary heroes. His ten party members got titled as heroes who will be replacing him to protect humankind. Each of them got a chance to choose a town to govern.

This Corsalin Town is governed by the Sagi, the hunter, who are experts in archery. He is a part of Shin's party and has a good relationship with him. He has the same age as Shin and was once saved by him when his village get raided by the demon army. Shin found him there alone, stalling the hundred demon army with his archery while the other villager tried to escape. One arrow for three heads of a demon. His skill successfully amazed Shin.

There is additional information about the Shapeshifter-Demon race, even though the high-level one can blend in with the human race perfectly. It only applies outside the Arham Royal Capital Holy City. If he set foot there, no matter how strong he is, he will absolutely have died there.

According to his memory, there is an ancient magic array arranged around the city. This array is set up by one of the legendary heroes since back then, far before Shin came to this world. The effect of this array is it will recognize all the demons inside its range and will be struck with divine lightning that will banish them instantly.

This is all the information Shin can get. Now he's wondering if he should meet Sagi or not. After thinking about it again, he chooses the latter. He needs to stabilize his power first.

For one to increase their power, usually they need to train, hunt, kill or do anything that will gain their experience. But for Shin, because the god still let him keep his all ability, he will regain all of his power after meditating for a day.

The next day, Shin fully regain his power. Now he can be classified high-level demon king, a three-stage above high-level demon, and just below Demon Emperor. His hero's status is actually already almost equal to the Demon Emperor, but he doesn't know how to transform into Demon Emperor.

He then realized there is a special attribute for a high-level demon king in y Shapeshifter race. Not only can disguise themselves freely, but he can make a doppelgänger too. It is just out of nowhere that this ability comes to his mind suddenly.

Actually, this is how the demon clan learns their ability. Once they reach a certain stage of rank, their new ability just comes to their mind.

Demon hierarchy was different from humans. In the human world, they are classified by class according to their innate talent. The class is Warrior, Magician, Archer, Assassin, and many more. Each class can be learned, but it will take more time to master. There is nine power rank, and it is determined by their battle power.

For example, when Shin comes into this world, he is gifted with a special innate talent that will let him be able to master all classes. But he chooses not to learn them all and focuses on the magician class till the end. He mastered all black and white spells, in addition, there is spell space that he gets from legendary heroes' inheritance. All of this only take him three years and make him rank nine magicians. He wants to defeat the Demon Emperor as soon as possible. God promises him to grant any of his wishes if he can do that.

Now, he removes the sleep spell from the house madam. He wants to interrogate her to get additional information, viewed from the human side. To prevent her from a panic attack, Shin cast a mid-tier hypnosis spell.

Aside from the same information before, Shin gets additional new information. After the war, King Vayne, the king of humans, held a symbolic funeral for Shin. Shin's body vanishes from the world after he died, but his weapon Allundra Staff is still there. So king Vayne buried it along with the other legendary heroes and royalty who have fallen before him. The funeral is held at the back of the Royal Palace, all of the citizens are invited to come.

After that, king Vayne introduces the ten human heroes who lead the army on the raid of Demon-Emperor Castle with Shin the heroes. Abra and Libra, the twins, rank eighth in the black and white magician. Marko, Reks, and Ashra the trio rank eight swordsmen. Virtuo and Jorks are the rank eight royal knights. Sagi the rank eight archer. Zerd the rank eight assassins and the last Meru the rank eight holy priestesses. Each of them rewarded several towns to govern. Only Meru assign to reside on Arham.

Just a month ago, Meru the priestesses finally reach rank nine. It makes her now the strongest human in the world. All of the heroes were invited again to join in celebrating her at Arham. Sagi is already going there. From Corsalin to Arham, it will take a week by horse.

Enough with the information, Shin's now planning to head out to walk around the town. He released the madam from the spell and left the house after changing his appearance again. This time he goes with a young man with a scholar's face.

The town is already back to its peaceful time. It looks like there is nothing was happened yesterday. Shin is looking for a mercenary guild house. He needs some money to live, and the guild is the best place to make some money.

After looking around, he found the guild house and go into it. Inside, the place is packed with drunk people. Many of them don't care about Shin. Shin hides his demon aura and manipulates it. From the outside, now he only looks like a rank four at best. It is equal with many of them here.

Shin goes to the receptionist and has a talk with the female receptionist.

“Simsalabbim”

Shin says this code quietly to her.

Believe it or not, this is a special code given to all mercenary guilds by one of the legendary heroes back then. The one who knows these codes are only the legendary heroes and guild. It is the rule since back then.

With the death of all legendary heroes, of course, this will make her surprised. Just before she can open her mouth.

Shin cast a low-tier silent spell that will make one can't speak.

The female receptionist then makes a sorry gesture and leads him to the guild office on the second floor to meet with the Guild Master. This is a standard operating procedure known by all receptionists.

He undoes Shin's silent spell.

She then runs from Shin and hides beside the Guild Master while explaining to him.

Shin doesn't care about explanation and takes a sit waiting the things clear.

“Which secret code?”

That Guild Master asks her to make it clear.

“The code that only legendary heroes know!”

Hearing this phrase. The Guild Master was in fury. He doesn't dare to look down on Shin and release all his power to intimidate him. His aura shows a rank-seven martial artist.

“Can you explain where you hear this code?”

“Of course, I hear it from my own ear”

Shin changed his appearance again. This time he uses his own face. This face makes the guild master frightened.

“Shapeshifter Demon race! How dare you to use the legendary hero's face!”.

The Guild Master believes the one in front of him is a Shapeshifter Demon race. There is no magic in this world that let one change his own appearance, and the shapeshifter Demon race is already a well-known demon race by humankind. So without much thinking, he goes to fight with Shin.

While the Guild Master charges at Shin. The receptionist girl trying to run and looking for help.

Shin stands up and only appoints his right hand toward the Guild Master punch. While the other hand cast a sleep spell on the girl.

“Mana Shield! How can you demon use this!?”

The Guild Master tries to land several more punches with the hope, that he can break Shin's shield. This is the first time he sees a demon who can use a mana shield. After ten seconds, there is still no hope. He is already run out of mana.

Shin as a former rank-nine legendary hero still has much mana. Even more, after he becomes a high-rank demon king, the mana is still the same.

Mana is required to cast magic. All class is using it, not only the magician. For example, is this Guild Master, his mana is used to hasten his punch, so he can make more punches in a second.

The Guild Master finally stops his punch. He realizes that this demon is stronger than him.

“Can we have a normal conversation now?”

Shin asks him nicely.

“Are you really a demon?”

The Guild Master is not sure whether the in front of him is a human or a demon. It is absolutely a demon because it is impossible for a human to change his appearance, only a shapeshifter demon can do that. Not only that, his aura is the same as a normal human's, and his power is not equal to his rank. Only humans can conceal their own rank.

For language, it is possible for a high-leveled demon to communicate using human language. There is no solid explanation for this, but Shin once happened to ask some high-leveled demons about this, the answer is just that they naturally know about human language once they can think on their own.

Shin replied, “Sit down”.

Seeing the situation is calm enough, the two of them decide to sit.

Shin then continued.

“I come here only for business”.

“There is no business now, this place is the same as a bar, people come here only for a drink. Don't you see that the world is already in peace, you know? Aah… right, do you happen to want to be a dishwasher? Hahaha”.

Seeing there is no malice intent from Shin, the Guild Master opened to him.

The Guild Master gulped. He knows he can escape if the fight is bound to happen, with the absence of Agni who protects this town, no one is stronger than himself right now.

Shin looked at him with keen eyes, he really looked down on him.

“We only possess around fifty thousand gold right now”.

The Guild Master doesn't dare lie. He offered him his own dimensional ring.

“Take this, all of them are here”.

A Dimensional ring is a ring crafted by the legendary hero back then. It is still a mystery how they are made, even Shin with his space magic can't do it. Due to their limited number, these ring is quite rare and can be sold at a high price. The currency of this world is using gold and silver. The conversion is one gold coin for one thousand silver. For this dimensional ring, the lowest price can be sold for one hundred thousand gold.

“I will take it, then, farewell”.

Shin left on his own. Going down, he sees that things are still the same. Before he left, he looks at the bulletin board where usually a commission is posted.

Sigh… It is really empty, huh?

Outside, now he's going towards the inn. He needs a place to eat and sleep. Shin realizes that Guild Master doesn't dare follow him, so now he changes his appearance again. Shin has many templates in stock. He only needs to think about all the people he knows in his own world, and nobody will know him. This time he goes with looks like a young male artist with short black hair.

For his attire, he's still using the same scholar outfit again. This outfit is normal in this world, and most people don't dare make a problem with the one who wears this. This is because, in this peaceful life, the scholar is the most respected person in this world. The scholar profession consists of teachers, doctors, and pharmacists.

This Corsalina Town is quite big. There are several inns that can be chosen near the guild house. Shin selects the quietest one.

“Amy House”.

This is the Inn's name, it has two floors. Shin went inside and meet the receptionist.

The receptionist is a middle-aged man with his wife.

The man introduces himself.

“Welcome to Amy House, sir. My name is Pitra, how can I help you?”

“Give your best room for three days”.

Shin decides to try staying for three days here. He doesn't hasty to leave the town.

Pitra replied,

“The best room will cost five gold coins per day, sir”.

“No problem. Here, take this.”

Shin handed over twenty gold coins.

“This is too much sir”

Pitra hesitated to accept it.

“Take it, help me buy this continent map and a town map later. I want to eat, send food to my room too. Consider it as a tip for the remaining”.

Having a map is not a bad thing. With the human territory expanded to demon territory, many new towns have appeared. He needs to update his memory.

“ Thank you, sir, follow me, I will show you our best room”

Pitra showed Shin the way to his room on the second floor.

“This is the best room here. The biggest room with a big bed, a private bathroom, and beautiful scenery. You can see the busy market and the luxurious city mayor's house. Do you like it, sir?”.

This is Pitra's proudest room. He, too, wishes can live in this room with his wife, but money comes first.

“Not bad. I like it. I will take a rest now”.

Shin goes inside.

“Glad to hear that. My wife will send you the food later. About the maps, I will go buy them now, sir”.

After Pitra has gone, Shin brings a chair and sits near the windows. While waiting for his food, he looked out the window to see people passing by. This area is quite packed. Besides the guild house and other inns, there is also a restaurant, bar, and street market where they sell anything. Some soldier is patrolling to keep them from making a problem.

Someone comes and knocks on the door.

“Esteemed guest, I am bringing the food”.

This is a woman's voice, Shin thinks this is maybe Pitra wife who comes bringing his food.

“Come”

The door is not locked. Shin allow her to enter and then asked her to just put it on the nearest table. Shin is ignoring her and just looked at the street.

Seeing Shin ignoring her, She asked him again.

“Is there anything else you need, sir?”

“No”

“I will take my leave then. Please call us if you need anything else later”.

Pitra's wife leave and closed the door.

Shin takes a look at the food. There is grilled meat, grilled fish, and grilled chicken. It is complete. Shin thinks, perhaps he is giving too much money to them. That's why Pitra's wife, gives all of the food worth that money. There is a drink too. One jar of water, and one jar of alcohol.

Shin takes some food and goes back to sit on a chair near the windows. He is eating while looking at the street again.

Something interesting happens. In front of the guild, there is some official soldier, one of them looks like their leader greeted by the Guild Master. The guild master even comes to greet him alone, looks like this official has a high rank.

The pedestrian is still walking while keeping a distance and chooses to mind their own business.

After that, they are entering the guild house. When this is happened, all of the guests inside the guild house run out. Looks like they are chased out from there.

Shin doesn't know what will they talk about, so he continues eating. Just a moment after that, come to another interesting event. This time, Shin actually feels a demon's aura.

In this town, like said before, there are many demon slaves. When ones become a demon slave, their demonic aura will be sealed, as long as their mark slave is still kept intact. Only a high-leveled Shapeshifter Demon Race can walk freely in this world.

Another Shapeshifter Demon Race!

Only the same race can feel their own race aura. This demon is looked like a normal teenage girl human who is at a loss, looking everywhere for something.

After a while, this demon found Shin and their eyes meet.

The demon then runs, coming to Shin. Now she is right below Shin's windows. Shin then asks her to come and meet in his room.

A moment later, the girl came with the Pitra's wife. Pitra's wife knock on the door and asked him about his guest.

“She is my guest. Come in”.

Shin said that, and the doors opened.

“You can leave”.

Shin signaled Pitra's wife to leave them alone. She then left and closed the door again.

“Are you the same as me?”

The teenager demon asked him confusedly. Looks like it is her first time meeting her own race.

Shin nodded and changed his face to look like her.
