Chapter 1
It is the beginning of March and Cherry trees have blossomed everywhere painting the land in light pink. On weekends young couples could be seen everywhere taking selfies and enjoying the beauty
Couples with kids are having a peaceful time while children are playing with petals and running around with big smiles on their faces. There were only a handful of people alone and most of them are middle aged or the older generation
A girl sitting on a bench under a cherry tree alone fiddled with her phone looked out of the picture. She was indeed attractive but had a pair of eyes filled with annoyance.
Wen Yuxian
Where is this dumb Shuquian. I have been waiting here for 45 minutes now.
She dialled the familiar number for the sixth time and finally it connected.
Chen Shuquian
Yuxian.... Honey I'm five minutes away. Please please wait for five minutes will you?
Wen Yuxian
Five? I have been waiting here for FORTY FIVE damn minutes now! Where the hell have you been?
Chen Shuquian
It's my stupid brother. You know how he is. I'll tell you once I'm there. I'm here, you are in our usual spot right?
Wen Yuxian
Yes. Stop Whining and hurry up.
Yuxian grumbled and hung up the phone. In a few minutes Shuquian came with a reddened face and panting.
Wen Yuxian
Did you run all the way here from your home?
Chen Shuquian
No dummy. I took a cab and went to the cafe to buy you an apology gift. Here you go. Don't blame me. My brother said he'll give me a lift but bailed out last minute.
She handed a Bubble tea to her friend with a puppy face.
Wen Yuxian
Whatever. You are lucky that you are my best friend. Otherwise, I would not waste my weekend looking at stupid flowers with anyone else.
Chen Shuquian
Oh you know you love me. Besides, this could be our last time watching cherry blossoms together like this. 'sigh'
Wen Yuxian
Of course. You are going to marry David next month and move to the USA. There are no cherry blossoms there anyway.
Chen Shuquian
You can also move there right? I know you got a job offer from Lorel Tech.
Wen Yuxian
Nope. Not happening. You know I won't leave my family. Also what am I supposed to do there alone? At least I have my family here.
She took another sip of her bubble tea while walking down the path next to best friend.
Chen Shuquian
Alex is interested in you. If you give him a chance maybe you'll start to like him and then get married. Then you won't have to be alone either.
Wen Yuxian
David's friend?. Nope. I'm good. You know love is not my thing. I have been single for twenty seven years so I can spend the rest like this as well.
Chen Shuquian
You really don't have any plan to get married in the future?
They chatted while walking down the path under the cherry trees. Wen Yuxian knew she was going to feel lonely when her best friend moved away with her future husband.
She never had a boyfriend in her life and was never able to understand what love is. She blessed her friend with her whole heart when she found her love but never felt the need to find a man for her self.
Her only concern was her job as a Software engineer and her family.
Two girls had walked around for a while and had lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then went on a shipping spree to buy stuff for the upcoming wedding of Chen Shuquian.
It was almost 7 PM when they were done with shopping.
Chen Shuquian
Are you sure you want to go right now? Maybe you can come to my place and have a sleepover?
Wen Yuxian
No. I have to go. My sister said she'd be coming tonight. I want to see Little you and give this as well.
She pointed at the beautifully packed Strawberry cheesecake that she bought for a nephew.
Chen Shuquian
Arghh... I know even you can't ignore little Yu's cuteness.
Chen Shuquian
Where is your cab?
Wen Yuxian
It's just a few minutes away. You leave. I'll be fine.
Chen Shuquian
Are you sure?
Chen Shuquian
Okay, text me when you are home?
Wen Yuxian
Sure sure. Bye!
Shuquian got into her cab and left. The Cab Yuxian booked have arrived in a few minutes and she got in the car as well.
It was just a twenty minutes drive. She took her phone out and started playing a mobile game.
Suddenly she heard the driver screaming and looked at the front to only to be blinded by a harsh light.
A shock wave went through her body and light faded into darkness.
