“Zayra hurry up you know what’ll happen if we’re late to class” my friend Sarahi says. The bell rings and we both look at each other with wide eyes. We both nod at each other and zoom to the classroom.

“What are we going to tell him” i say worried. If we’re late and if your human you get dranken from which isnt a big deal but our teacher almost drinks us dry.

“Lets just walk in come on” Sarahi says as she pushes past the doors. I follow. We walk in and meet the glare of our teacher. The vampires all look at us too. Ugh i hate this.

“Why are you two late to my class” Mr. E says. We gulp.

“Well you see Mr. E we tried to run to class bu-“ Sarahi says but gets cut off as Mr. E sinks his teeth into her. She yells a bit but stays quiet. She gives me a weak smile to try to say its ok. I push Mr. E away from her.

“No it wasn’t her fault it was mine drain me please not her” i say. The student body assistant grabs me by the hair. I yelp.

“Keep quiet you human” he says making human sound like an insult. I stomp on his foot and try to run but crash into a wall. I look up to meet a pair of dark eyes. The assistant tries to pull me to him but the guy grabs me.

“Let her go” he growls. The assistant lets go and looks down.

“President but she dared to disrespect Mr. E” the assistant says. The teacher moves up front.

“Hes right i was just about to give them there punishment for being late but she-“ the teacher gets cut off.

“Veliam what are you doing” the assistant says. Veliam grabs Mr. E by the neck and holds him up. Sarahi goes to me and hugs me.

“Did i give you both permission to talk out of line” Veliam says in an eary voice. My heart speeds up. He’s sticking up for me. But why. “Now i know humans aren’t really respected by us but they are still students and if you have a problem tell me now” he says in a commanding voice. No one says anything they all stay quiet. He lets the teacher fall to the ground. He walks over to me and i step back crashing into Sarahi.

“Im sorry for causing trouble president” i say as i put my head down. I feel his gaze. He lifts my chin and when i look up i notice how close he is. My heart speeds up.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about, are you ok?” He says as his eyes pour into mine.

“Im fine i will never be late again I promise it” i say. He nods no.

“Mr. E next time a human student is late punish them like you would punish a vampire with detention no more drinking from them” Veliam says still looking at me. He looks away amd turns to Mr. E “is that understood” he says in a strong tone.

“Of course” the teacher mumbles. “Girls go have a seat please my apologies” they teacher forces out. Sarahi and me nod and go sit. Veliam stays the whole class. I dont know if I should even say thank you. The bell rings and Sarahi runs to her next class. I walk to my history class since it’s across the hall.

“Zayra i heard what happened are you ok” my friend Fiorella says as she hug me.

“Yeah im fine it wasn’t a big deal” i say. A girl pushes me and I almost fall but someone catches me.

“Sorry” she reluctantly says as she leaves with her group. I look up and see Veliam. Hes looking at the girls. Must be friends of his. He puts me on my feet. I hear the bell ring and curse under my breath.

“Thank you” i say as i try to go to my class. He grabs me.

“I’ll go with you so your teachers won’t say anything” he says. I blush and look down.

“Thank you” i say again. I follow him and he leads me inside and tells the teacher i dont know what so i just sit. The girls in my class are all glaring at me while the guys all look at me but then avoid my gaze. Veliam steps out. I sigh and pull my notebook out. Someone throws a paper on my desk. “Slut back of Veliam your pathetic to think he’d like a human” i crumble the note.

“Whats that” the teacher says. I hide it. I can’t cause more problems now.

“Nothing Ms its just trash” i say. She takes the paper from me. She laughs.

“Whoever made this” she says trying to stop laughing. “Extra credit” she says.

“I made it Ms” the girl that pushed me earlier says. The teacher gives her a thumbs up.

“Whats your problem” i growl out. The girl smirks and walks to me. The teacher leaves to her desk and pretends to not be looking.

“Stop trying to get with Veliam hes my man so stop being a pathetic human slut and leave him alone you aren’t special for him that’s only me” she growls in my face.

“Is that so” i hear a familiar voice at the door, it’s Veliam.

“Veliam” the girl says as she walks over to him. “I was just-“ she gets cut off.

“Tanya” Veliam says with annoyance laced in his voice. “Apologies now” he commands. Tanya glares at me.

“No its fine your girlfriend just doesn’t like that your nice to me and thats fine im sorry i caused trouble again” i say as i walk by him. His hand reaches for me but he pulls it back. I walk out to the hall. I released a breath I didn’t know i was holding. I dont know why but it hurt that he let me walk away. Humans and wolves are all treated lower than vampires for whatever reason so of course it felt nice that someone finally stood up for me but i was looking into it. I need to get a grip.

“Human” Someone calls out. I turn around and meet a pair of green eyes. “Whats your name” he asks. I look at him with a confused look. “What?” He says.

“Ok look at it from my perspective ok?” I say he nods. “Ok so a stranger calls you out and asks for your name even though you dont even know his” i say.

“Oh sorry” he says as he rubs his neck. “My names Jaxon but everyone calls me jax im a wolf” he says holding out his hand.

“Well Jax im Zayra and im human i think” i say with a chuckle. I get the chills and shiver. That was weird.

“Why you think” he says looking around because i shivered.

“Ok Jax why’d you call for me” i say changing the subject. He smiles.

“Well why dont we become friends come on” he says as he holds his hand out.

“Why would you want to be friends with me” i say really confused.

“Your just...different i guess” he says. I take his hand.

“Fine friends?” I say. He smiles and nods.

“Friends” he assures. The atmosphere changes when he hugs me. “Is it me or is it colder and it feels like someone’s watching us” he says.

“I thought only I noticed” i say. “It’s really weir-“ i get cut off.

“What are you doing Jaxon” Veliam says coming out of no where. His glare is on Jax’s hand on mine.

“Oh sorry i got to go” i say as i zoom pass both of them. Ugh why me. I groan when the bell rings. I run to go find my friends.

“Zayra!” I hear Fiorella yell. I run to them. “Ok so whats the drama about you hanging out with the student body president of the vampires and wolves” she says. I shrug.

“There just rumors” i say. She glares at me and shrugs too.

“Ok well lets go” Sarahi says. “The others are waiting for us” she says. Lunchand the rest of the day I avoid Veliam and Jaxon. I got my head shoved into a toilet and been tripped and jumped all day but its fine. Everyone thinks im sticking my head in something im not.

“Zayra nico’s looking for you” Sarahi says. I sigh. I totally forgot i was supposed to meet him yesterday. A girl passes by with her group and pushes me except this time I actually hit the ground.

“Watch where your going melissa” Fiorella hisses as she helps me up.

“Maybe you should tell your friend to back off then” she growls. I walk up to her almost enough to make people think i was gonna swing.

“Back off from what” i growl. Right now a group is around us.

“From Veliam and Jax” she spits. “You dont have a chance with them your just some human” she says. Oo my favorite compliment i think to myself sarcastically.

“First off im not trying to get with them they were just helping me Second of all i am a human so what i could still kick your *** you dog” i growl out with an actual growl. Everyone looks at me surprised Fiorella and Sarahi back up into the group. Melissa charges at me But instead of hitting me i push her against a locker and slam her face into one of the lockers. My eyes and myself feel cold. All i can think about it hurting her more I want to see her bleed but its like someone is controlling me...I let her drop. I turn around and see everyone looking at me. They’re all whispering. I zoom out of the school. Luckily it’s already last period. I need to get to the dorms. In a blink of an eye im at the dorm.

“How in the-“ i say but cut myself off. No don’t your just tired. Just go and close you eyes. I hear a knock on the door. I groan.

“Who is it” i yell out. No answer. I groan again and open the door. It’s empty. I sigh. Really ding dong ditch. I walk back into my room and shut the door. I walk to my bed and theres another knock. I groan and open the door again no one. I groan and start getting mad. I step out and walk through the hallway and see no one at all. I walk back to my room. Really ding dong ditch. I push my forehead against the door and sigh. Someone knocks again. I pull the door open. “Stop fuckin-“ i say shutting up as i see its Veliam. “Sorry” I mumble. He picks my face up with his hand.

“I heard about what happened are you ok?” He asks. I nod. I feel my cheeks heat up.

“Yeah im fine” i say.

“How come when you answered the door you looked mad then” he says.

“Oh that well its cause like a minute before you knocked someone kept knocking on the door and when i went to check no one was there i even went through the hallway but they were gone” i say. He pulls me to him and pulls us out of the room. He shuts the door.

“Veliam what’s wrong” i say. He covers my mouth.

“You left your door open while you went to check didn’t you” he says. I mentally face palm myself. I might of let who ever knocked in.

“Damn it” i say. He pushes me aside.

“No matter what you hear or anything dont come in” he says. I nod. Hes kinda lowkey scaring me. He walks into the room and closes the door. I walk back and forth from the dorm and wall. I hear a big thud and almost open the door. But I resist he said not to. I hear something break. I close my eyes and breath out. I hear someone gasping for air. That’s it. I burst through the door and see Veliam on the ground with a guy choking him on the ground.

“I told you not to come in” he forces out. The guy kicks him amd throws him against the wall. He walks towards me. I step back.

“Zayra I presume” he says. I gulp. I can’t show I’m scared.

“Whats it to you” i snap. He chuckles.

“Feisty are we?” He says as he reaches to me. Veliam jumps in front and grabs his arm.

“Leave her alone” he growls.

“Why should I” he says as he looks me up and down. “She looks like a good time just like Melissa and Tanya said” he says licking his lip. The atmosphere went cold and eary just like when me and Jax were talking.

“I said leave her alone” Veliam says in a tone that gave me goosebumps.

“Or what” the guy asks. Veliam drops him and the guy yells in pain as Veliam pulls his hand to the point of me hearing a crack. A smile formed on my lips for some odd reason. He throws him out of the dorm and dorm house.

“Are you ok” i ask.

“You should’ve listened” he growls out.

“Im sorry” i say looking down. God damn it i messed up again. I hear him sigh.

“Come on lets go its late” he says as he leads me outside.

“What do you mean” i say as i stop.

“You think ima let you sleep in there after what just happened” he snaps out. I gulp. Hes right.

“Right im sorry again” i say. We walk to his car and go to his dorm. When we arrive its so empty. We go up to his room. I sit on his bed. Shit i think to myself. I forgot my clothes. He throws one of his shirts and some shorts.

“This is to sleep I’ll give you some other clothes for school tomorrow” he says. I blush and nod. I go into the bathroom and change. His shorts fits me big but i still put them on. When i come out i see Veliam set up a bed on the ground. I lay down there.

“What are you doing” he asks me standing next to me.

“Ima go to sleep” i say.

“You’re sleeping on the bed” he commands. I sit up.

“No” i say. “Im not gonna sleep on the bed if you sleep on the ground” i state. He sighs.

“So you want me to sleep with you in the same bed” he says humor laced in his voice. I look away and blush as I realize what im asking.

“Yes” i say. Even though its a bold thing to do Veliam can keep me safe and i want to feel safe. We get into the small bed. We shut our eyes as i feel his breath on my neck. I get goosebumps. I ignore it and go to sleep.
