*It all started the day I turned 16... I didn't realized how big of a day all is was at the time, that is until she dissapeared...*
Jeremy
Ashlynn, you're going to be late for school if you don't hurry and get ready.
Ashlynn
*That's my dad, he tries to be strong for me and my little sister, but we can tell he really misses our mom. It's been 2 months since the sheriff told us that our mother dissapeared. Everyone just figured that she was dead, but I still have hope. I have to have hope if I ever want to see her again...*
Ashlynn
Ok, I'll be right down. I just have to grab my school stuff.
Ashlynn
*This will be the first day back at school since our mother dissapeared. Everyone thought my dad had something to do with her dissapearance so the kids at my school started avoiding me.*
As Ashlynn walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, she saw her younger sister and her dad eating eggs and bacon for breakfast.
Ashlynn walks over to her Kiara and playfully steals some of her food.
Jeremy
Girls, please don't mess around with your food. Ashlynn, you're going to have to walk home today, I have a very important meeting with the Travis Tech company and I won't be able to pick you up. Kiara is going to have to stay with the neighbors until you get home.
Ashlynn
Ok, I will come straight home and pick up Kiara.
Jeremy
Oh, can you also walk Kiara over to the neighbors I have to get to work.
Ashlynn
(sighs) *He used to love walking her over there. Most of the time Kiara would be over his shoulder all the way there. He never wants to hang out, he just wants to go to work, sleep, and work some more.*
Ashlynn
Okay, you got it dad. Are you ready Kiara?
Ashlynn and Kiara walk out the door and are on there way to the neighbors.
Kiara
Is he ever going to love us again Ashlynn?
Ashlynn
Kiara, he does love us. He's just having a hard time without mom.
Neither of the girls say another word until they are at their neighbors house, Mrs. Snickers.
Ashlynn
*Mrs. Snickers lives in a two story house across the street. She was close with our mom so after our mom dissapeared, Mrs. Snickers has been watching Kiara more and more.*
Ashlynn
*After we knock on Mrs. Snickers freshly painted blue door, she came out wearing a yellow dress with a red overcoat.*
Mrs.Snickers
Hey, Kiara are you ready for a great day?
Ashlynn
*Mrs. Snickers has been the most cheerful person in our lives since the disappearance. Everyone thinks they have to walk on eggshells around us. When really, we just want to get back to normal and keep our minds in good places...*
Ashlynn
Have fun Kiara. I'll be back right after school, okay.
Mrs.Snickers
Take your time dear. You don't want to stress yourself out too much.
Ashlynn
Okay, thanks, see you soon.
Who is he?
Ashlynn
*When I finally reached the front of the school I was hesitant. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me. I'm not used to the attention and I really don't like it. News sure does travel everywhere, so I guess I have to get used to it.*

That's the girl who lost her mom. We all know her dad did it.
Ashlynn
*I knew I would get stares, but some people are just rude. I don't understand why girls like that don't say things to my face, they just whisper in their little groups*
Ashlynn
*As I turned the corner to get to the main office, a guy runs right into me and I fell over.*
James
Hey, sorry, I didn't see you there.
Ashlynn
*He had a sweet smile, as if he didn't know who he just helped, so I muttered,* Unlike everyone else.
James politely and with a kind smile held out his hand to help her up.
James
What was that? Are you ok?
Ashlynn
Yeah, I'm fine, thank you.
Ashlynn
*Thats when I felt the stares again and quickly walked away toward the office door. *
office attendant
What can I help you with?
Ashlynn
I'm here to get my class schedule. They told my dad that they had to make me a new one.
office attendant
Well, what's your name?
Ashlynn
Oh, sorry, umm...its...Ashlynn Hill...
Ashlynn
*I spoke hesitantly because that's the first time I had to say my name in front of anyone today and as soon as I said my name her whole mood changed. She seemed perkier.*
office attendant
Oh yes, Mrs. Hill. How are you doing?
Ashlynn
I'm fine I just need my schedule.
office attendant
Oh, I was told to send you to the guidance counselor. They have your schedule there.
Ashlynn
*Great. Now I'll be living in the guidance room.*
As Ashlynn walked through the full hallways, dodging people and glares, she saw the boy that had bumped into her.
Ashlynn
*Is he following me!? I tried taking a few turns into hallways that I have no idea where they lead and he kept walking behind me. So thats when I ran into the girls bathroom and saw a window. Since I heard him getting closer, I decided to go out the window and I started running in the direction of home.*
Ashlynn
*The whole walk home, I kept thinking about him. I feel like I've seen him before, but where. I keep walking the short distance to my house until I see Mrs. Snickers and my sister being stuffed in a black van. What the heck is happening?*
Ashlynn
* I start running toward them, but as I get closer, Mrs. Snickers shakes her heard and mouths 'run'. So thats what I do. I start running as fast as I can in the direction dad goes to work.*
Ashlynn
*I finally reach the tall building of Billy's Industries. I hope he's still here and didn't make his way to Travis Tech yet.*
Ashlynn
*I walk up to the nearest desk with a guy reading.*
Ashlynn
Excuse me. I'm looking for Jeremy Hill, he's my dad.
counter guy
Oh, sorry sweetheart, he just left a few minutes ago. Is there anything else I can do for you?
Ashlynn
*I don't answer I just start running out of the door. Now I have to go to the Travis Tech building.*
Ashlynn
*It takes me about 30 minutes to run towards the 30 floor building, with the red and white outer covering. Dad, I'm coming.*
James Rivers

*As soon as I go into the busy building, I start toward the front desk, where a Lady wearing all black was sitting.*
counter lady
What can I do for you?
Ashlynn
I'm looking for my dad, he was supposed to have a meeting with the CEO of Travis Tech.
counter lady
What's his name?
counter lady
Oh, yes, he was supposed to but he never showed up. The meeting started an hour ago.
Ashlynn
Ok, thanks I guess...
Ashlynn
*I start to panic. Maybe he went back home.*
Ashlynn
*I start walking back towards my house. Maybe they'll all by there...*
Ashlynn
*I'm almost home, when I start to hear footsteps. Am I the next person to disappear? I try to loose whoever was following me by going into an ally way between two large buildings. Then I start running.*
Ashlynn
*When I am about to run straight out the other side of the building, someone grabs me. I start to struggle, but they keep a hand over my mouth and their other hand wrapped around my waist. I had no idea what was happening.*
Ashlynn
* I know that voice, so I look over and see the boy that bumped into me dismorning and who was following me in school.*
Ashlynn
*We are hiding in a small storage room. He doesn't move until we couldn't hear the footsteps anymore.*
Ashlynn
Who are you and why did you help me?
James
I am James Rivers and I helped you because I think we can help each other out.
Ashlynn
Help each other with what?
James
Last year I turned 16, and everybody I loved dissapeared. I think they were taken and then I read about your mother and thought you were going through the same thing, so let's he lp eachother out?
Ashlynn
Do you know who took them?
James
No, but I know that they weren't the ones that they wanted, we are.
Ashlynn
Why would they want us? What makes us so special?
James
We are like normal people, we can do things.
Ashlynn
Like magic, you don't actually believe that.
Ashlynn
*I get up and start pacing around the small room.*
Why didn't you tell me this when we first ran into eachother and why were you following me?
James
I didn't tell you because I wasn't 100% sure I could trust you, that was until I saw those two guys start following you.
Ashlynn
This is a lot to process. I want to go home.
James
You can't, if you go back now they'll get you for sure.
Ashlynn
I still don't understand, how did they find me?
James
I don't know, but I do know where we can hide tonight. Tomorrow we will find our families.
