Cursed Fate

Prologue

In the middle of night, In the middle of the desert, rustled leaves around her, trembling with the unbearable cold. Moving to every direction that the breeze pushes. She looked up to the sky and watched the half dark moon shining on her. Shivering due to the cold, she looked at the stars, even the stars were blurry to her sight. The sounds of creatures didn't scare her, what scared her was what she was doing here in the middle of the night. Unlike the man who always appeared in her dream, this dream was more advanced and scarier. What was all this? From one problem to another. From one nightmare to another. She couldn't take a step, she remained there as she let her fate decide for her.

She could feel her skin freeze as her mouth was too weak to be opened. Suddenly, something was beside her. She could feel someone's presence, but she was unable to sense the person, but she could feel his warmness. Perhaps, did God hear her outcry and sent someone to save her? Turning around, she hugged the person, letting his hotness penetrate her. Holding on to his thick black cloak, she held him tightly and slowly, her body was getting warm. This man was fire himself. This man had a furnace in him. He was her savior right now.

"Let go" This voice wasn't something pleasant to the ear. Deep and husky. Lucinda, who couldn't just let that sound pass her by, immediately raised her head and then, Lucinda almost fainted. It was him!! The man in her dream. What was this? Why him? What was he doing here? This felt so real. Was she really here? Yes!! She touched him. She just hugged him and she heard his voice.

"What?" Lucinda stared at him with wide opened eyes. Just looking at her, it was obvious that she has seen a ghost. A very terrifying ghost. The ghost that caused her sleepless nights. The ghost that appeared to her in the dark side of the moon. The man who sat on the half moon with killing gaze sent to her. Now, why did he decide to come close to her? This was terrifying and brain scattering.

"What do you want from me?" Lucinda asked. She couldn't be left dumb and not ask what she has been meaning to ask him. In her dreams, when she tries talking to him, the darkness swallows him up and then, off he went. His face was never seen, this same black hoodie was always covering his face. On the moon, staring at her, she could see red shining lights through the hoodie as his lips curved to a corner as his gaze never left hers. The man sitting on the moon, it was a fairy tale story told her by her deceased mom, but after her mother's death, this story was gradually coming true. A man really does sit on the moon.

"I want you." The man replied with his head sent face down. Lucinda was taken back. Does he want her? Why? What did she do? Walking closer to him as she placed her hands on both sides of his cheek, lifting his face up to stare at her. Where the courage came from, she didn't bother to know. As far he was speaking, and he didn't harm her, she felt a little safe at his strange aura. Still, she couldn't see his face, but that was not the problem. Definitely, he would have eyes, but what does he want her?

"Why do you want me? What can I do for you? Why do keep disturbing my sleep?" Lucinda asked as she held her stand. She didn't intend to sound weak. Those sleepless nights because of him must end today.

"I want your heart. I want you to be mine. You are the easy and fastest way to my death. I want death, only you can help me get it fast" He said more like in a rush. Without seeing his face, his voice sounded with emotions and pains.

Right! People saw her as her mother's murderer, but it isn't new anymore. This man also wanted her to kill him, and that's the last thing she would do. This man was strange in all his ways, and she wouldn't fall in.

"I can't help you" Immediately those words left her mouth, she jolted in surprise. She has been speaking to herself along in a bright sunny afternoon.

Chapter One: My cursed Existence

" I've lived all my life full of hatred and evil.

What more was expected, I'm a demon. Demons are evil, but I'm extraordinary evil. My evil and pride has led me somewhere unbearable to even glance at. All my life, I've been cursed, my existence is cursed, my fate is cursed. Nothing good out of it.

I am darkness, no light can be found in me

My heart is blind, I have no soul

My presence isn't noticed, only when evil deeds takes place, my name would be the talk of everybody's mouth.

They say I'm a stain, a stain that can never be removed.

A black dot on a white surface

I'm full of scorn, oh yes, I deserve all of that.

I do evil…." Unable to keep reading the book, Lucinda shut the book closed. She closed her eyes as her hands were on her chest. The emotion that evoke her while reading this book was really unexpected. Opening her eyes, her eyes were set on the book, the golden written title got her drawn. 'My cursed Existence' the title was possessive, but no author's name was written on it. She turned the book front and back, but no name was on it. She flipped some pages, but nothing was seen.

He said he was a demon. A demon with darkness. A demon with nothing good but bad. A demon beyond redemption!! Even if he hated his existence, why would he call himself a demon? Did he hate himself that much? How does it feel living a cursed life? Lucinda felt pity for him. She wished she could hug him and tell him that they would go through this life battle together.

What's more, she was also living a life of hell in this palace. Everyone hated her except from her little brother, Raymond, and her only maid. Her life was also cursed, but she never did evil. Even if this man did evil, his evil would be of reasonable good. He was hated. Very hated!

She looked at the book once more, she wanted to open it and continue reading it, but she thought otherwise. It will only make her emotionally bothered. She wanted to think freely and not reflect on someone's life. As she was about to stand up from her bed, her sister barged in.

Yes, she came to shout on her. That's the only thing she was good at. Yell at someone and speak venomous words. Good manner of approach wasn't in her Agenda! Such a shame, she was her twin sister.

Walking majestically into her room, dressed in purple linen royal gown with her crown sparkling on her red hair, she halted when she thought she was already too closed to her cursed sister.

"Are you with any of my books?" Her cruel voice sounded like the beat of drums in Lucinda's ear.

"Is this yours?" Avoiding trouble, she showed her the black book that was with her. Immediately sighting the book, she spooked her head with disgust.

"That book is inflicted with bad luck. The book is rejected by people and has been banned from the kingdom. Where did you get it?" She asked, and Lucinda was shocked. Reading this book, you'd be inflicted with bad luck? Why were this people cruel? He only wrote about his life and investigating deeper, he was tracking down help, but why were they this cruel? Why would they barn the book? What was wrong with his story?

"I saw it in the abandoned shelf in the library" She said truthfully and Luciana gaped.

"In this palace?" With her reaction, Lucinda could see how disgusted she was with her and the book.

"You have been inflicted with bad luck since it found its way to you. I wonder why father still allows you in this place. After killing our mom, you ought to be banished from this land" She spatted as she sent a razor gaze to Lucinda. The girl went face down.

"You don't have to say such….beside, Demons don't exist. Who knows if his story is true" Defending the man, and ignoring what her sister just said about her made Luciana stunned.

"Demons exists and secondly, the few people who read this book died a day after reading this book. He is taking people's life, and I'm sure you won't see tomorrow" Luciana smirked. Attending her sister's funeral would be the greatest joy of her life.

"They don't" Lucinda mumbled as she hugged the book tightly.

"Thinking about it, I saw you married to a demon in my dream. Someone like him" Luciana said truthfully. Having the ability to foresee the future, she saw her sister with a demon. Luciana, being a lover of both demons and Vampires stories, has always prayed to end up with one of them but according to her dream, she was married to a human guy while her sister had want she wanted. Although, she didn't know if the man was evil, but her sister swashed her dream from her. Beauty, she got it. Demon, she would have it. Voice, her sister possessed it. It made her envy her and gave her more reasons to hate her.

Even when mother was alive, she preferred Lucinda to her and unfortunately, her lovely daughter was she reason of her death. This twin of hers was a bad omen.

Chapter Two: I miss her

Sitting at the front of the mirror, Lucinda's black, silky hair was combed gently by her maid. Not just any maid, she was like a mother to her. After all, Lucinda's biological mother and this woman were very close. Closer than expected, a queen close to an old maid. The connection was strange, but the deceased queen was generous to all. She wasn't biased. She was kind and loving. This old maid, after her mother's death, this woman took her seriously. Only she made sure she had eaten and taken her bath.

"What's the occasion?" Lucinda asked the woman, breaking the silence between them. The woman gestured a smile as she dropped the comb on the table.

"Kings of other kingdoms are coming to pay your father a visit tonight" The woman said and Lucinda gaped.

"Is there something going on?" Lucinda knew this meeting wouldn't be just to say hello to each other. Her father, the cruelest man she has ever known, would have his selfish reason for welcoming them.

"That I don't know, your father is secretive but one thing I know is that he will be choosing a husband for your twin" Lucinda's jaw dropped drawing her eye bags down together. Yes!! That was it or was there something bigger behind this? Well, this was big enough but if her father had hated her, she would have given her out first, or perhaps he saw her as someone who doesn't worth a rich man.

"That's good" She simply said, and the old woman patted her back. Only her mother did that and whenever she does that, she was calm but as this woman did the same thing, she felt calm. She missed her mom. So much.

"Why do you feel like my mom?" Lucinda said almost in a whisper, and the woman smiled.

"Since when do you feel so?" She answered her with another question.

"After my mother's death. I miss her" She bent face down, and then she lifted her face to the old woman. The Sting of tears piercing through the corner of her eyes were urging to pour down, but the woman held her tears as she firmly looked into her eyes.

"I'm glad I'm making you feel at home like your mother. That's her last request from me before she gave up the ghost" The woman smiled and finally, letting the tears drop.

Fighting the urge, being the loser, she hugged the woman. "Thank you" Lucinda said as the woman hugged her back. Feeling the same warmness her mother has, she refused to let go of her as she wept in her embrace.

"Don't ruin your hair princess, your presence is needed" The woman immediately said as she noticed the girl was refusing to let go of her. The girl finally withdrew from the hug.

"You'd be fine" The woman said as she dressed her hair. Lucinda nodded as she stood up from the stool. Her elegant royal blue gown, beautified with sparkling silver white stones. She hardly praised herself but right now, she could say to herself that she looked breathtaking.

She turned to the woman and gestured a smile before she went towards the exit.
