Jake Munroe was currently running down the hallway of his school because he was being chased by Barry, one of the tough guys in school. Barry was catching up and Jake knew he was in BIG trouble.

Barry was chasing him not because he offended him. It was just that Barry enjoyed bullying weaklings like Jake. He did for fun and worst of all, he didn't even see anything wrong in it.

Barry was just inches away and used that chance to give Jake a punch which make Jake to somersault because of his speed.

"You couldn't escape this one bro. Now, time for our daily business😈. Hehe.", Barry said to Jake that was on the floor.

Barry then picked him up by his collar and slammed him into the ground which made him groan in pain. Barry followed with a punch to his nose which made blood spurt out.

"Ugh."

Barry then said,

"Have you ever watched Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel? Well, this is how the do the last attack on their opponent. Super punch! Final attack!"

*WHACK*

"Argh!"

The punch was so heavy that blood filled Jake's face and some stained Barry's hand.

"See what you've done. Now I have to go wash my hand.", Barry said as he kicked Jake at his side.

Other students that were watching were dumbfounded. Just then, Tom, Jake's best friend rushed over to Jake.

"Jake! Are you okay? I heard a rumor that Barry was beating you up. I rushed over as fast as I could. Don't worry, I'm gonna take you to the nurse's office to get you treated alright?", Tom said rapidly as he picked Jake up and carried him towards the school nurse office while other students stood there in silence, wishing they had a friend like that.

At the nurse office...

Jake had just been given some first aid by the school nurse. He was currently lying on the bed while Tom was sitting on the stool that was at the side of the bed.

"W-when is th-this g-g-going to end😟?", Jake managed to stammer while sobbing.

"Don't cry. It will end. Just have a little faith. You know your parents died in a car crash yesterday. Don't let this one bother you that much because it isn't as painful as loosing your parents.", Tom said while trying to comfort his friend. He gave a reassuring smile which made Jake can down a bit.

"Thanks Tom, you are really a true friend. I hope to repay you someday.", Jake replied.

"What are friends for? This is just a way of caring for my best friend."

"I, I will never forget what you have been doing for me Tom.", Jake said while sobbing and the y both gave each other a hug.

Half an hour later, Jake was ready to leave the office. Him and Tom both left the office and the school as they both left for their houses.

In Jake's house...

Jake entered his house and went into his parents' room to see if he could find anything else. Then he found a strange looking device that looked like a mini projector. As he picked it up, he saw a button that read 'play'. He decided to tap it. Then something strange happened...

The device left Jake's hand and went up in the air and started to project a video on his nearby wall. It consisted of his father and mother sitting on a couch in a strange room that he had never seen in his entire life. His mother said,

"If you are watching this video,", she sobbed, "It means we are already dead.".

His father then continued,

"Don't be too sad, grab the device as soon as soon as this video ends and press the open button that is there. Goodbye son...well, for now."

The video ended there and he grabbed the device quickly. He saw the open button there and he swore it wasn't there before. He couldn't even find the play button again. Then questions started flooding his mind.

What was the device? How did they make that video? Did they know they will die? Where was that room that they were? What did his dad mean by 'for now' when he said goodbye? How did the 'open' button get there and how did the 'play' button disappear?

All these thoughts were confusing him. He then pressed the open button and the device disappeared. Then he was hearing strange beeping noises in his head and he found it annoying. Then he heard a strange robotic voice.

"Seems host finds it annoying, it will be stopped to satisfy him. Connection in progress..."

"Huh? What was that? I'm probably hearing things. But the beeping stopped. This is getting confusing."

He went on to do his assignment and when he was almost done, he got a message from Tom on his phone. It read,

'Hey Jake, just wanted 2 ask you to come over to my house. I'm feeling bored 'cos my mom and pops went somewhere and they said they wouldn't be home until 10. Expecting you in fifteen minutes.'

Jake then sent the reply,

'Kk. On my way Tommy.'

Jake finished up his assignment and headed to Tom's house.

In Tom's house...

"Come on Jake. Where are you?", Tom whispered to himself.

*KNOCK KNOCK*

Tom heard a knock on his door and opened it and saw his best friend.

"Jake, where have you been?"

"Oh, I just wanted to finish up my homework so it's not my fault."

The duo played some boy games including a VR game. They played 5 VR games in which Tom won 2 of them, Jake also won two while they drew one.

The decided to play football.

While they were playing, Jake heard the same beeping sound and the same robotic voice.

"Connection done. Confirmation in progress. Host will now go unconscious."

"What the he-", before Jake could finish his sentence, he was knocked out.

Tom rushed over as he saw it as Jake just fainted abruptly because he couldn't hear the robotic voice.

"Not again Jake.", he said as he picked him up and placed him on his shoulder and headed for a nearby hospital.
