" AIDEN!!!! I AM GOING TO MURDER YOU WITH A FREAKING SPOON!!!"
That jerk ate the last of MY cereal!
"What's up sis? Why do you look so angry? Why are you bending that poor spoon?"
I look at my idiot of a twin with pure anger running through my veins.
"Oh, is this about your cereal? Yeah, sorry, I meant to tell you that I ate the last of it for a midnight snack. My bad."
"I. Am. Going. To. Murder. You!" Instead of the usual look of fear people give me, Aiden looks at me with that stupid grin of his.
"No you're not. You can't kill me! Wanna know why? You probably already know why. Actually, I know you know why you can't kill me, your poor innocent twin brother. You can't kill me because if you did, Mom would kill you and then bring back you back to life just so she could kill you again."
"You owe me my cereal. I have been looking forward to a beautiful bowl of sugar for twenty-four hours. My day was going so well, and then I get to the kitchen and see my cereal box empty. How could you do this to me, AJ?"
Aiden looks me in the eyes and I can see he feels a little guilty about eating my food, but then his smile returns.
"I know! We can just go over to mom and dads for breakfast! That way we can have mom's homemade waffles! Plus, you haven't seen our siblings in what, four days? Come on, Heave, that's cruel, even for you."
Please Heavenly! I want to go too! Let's go! Come on! Why are you still standing here? Hurry up and start moving!
Kayla, you need to calm down. You know we have training this morning, and you have been out of control and I can't risk one of us hurting someone.
We aren't going too.
We're going too. Kayla, we are staying here and then going to training. End of discussion.
But I want waffles.
You can have waffles some other time.
No, I want waffles now!
No, you need to calm down.
WAFFLES! RIGHT NOW!!!
Kayla calm down! Seriously calm down!
I feel my claws push out of my fingertips and feel Kayla surfacing more and more with each passing second.
Fighting against her, takes a ton of concentration, and I can feel her get more worked up about stupid waffles and seeing our family.
"Heave, you know if your wolf wants
something, you won't be able to keep her under control, so you might as well stop fighting and come with me to the house."
Aiden does have a point. Ever since my first shift, I haven't ever gained proper control over Kayla.
Nobody knows that except for my parents and Aiden. To everyone else, I am the perfect picture of a princess.
If they knew the truth, there could be an uprising, and that definitely wouldn't be good.
If we go get waffles, will you calm down and let me get through training this morning before our daily run?
I solemnly swear to behave myself.
"Fine, you both win. Let's go get waffles."
"Yay!" I shake my head, wondering how my wolf and brother always seem to team up on me.
I walk out of the kitchen and out the front door with a smiling Aiden close
on my heels.
Aiden and I moved out of our parent's house when we both turned seventeen, and our own little house was finished being built.
Aiden and I have always had the dream of living together till we find our mates, so our parents decided to make it happen.
The only way Aiden and I could move out was if our house was close enough to their house that a human could walk there in under three minutes.
Wanting freedom, my brother and I quickly agreed. It is nice being so close to our family when we need them, but it is also a curse because they think they can waltz in whenever they want.
Seriously, you don't know how many times I'll wake up from a nap and hear my entire family in our living room.
The concept of space is something they can't seem to grasp. Don't get me wrong, I love them to death, but there are times when I need space.
Especially when it's a lunar eclipse. For some reason that is beyond my knowledge, Kayla becomes super hard to control.
No matter what I do she always forces a shift which sucks because unlike everyone else, I can't go on a pack run.
Instead, I have to be locked up in chains to keep from hurting anyone or run off and get lost somewhere.
Rouges would also be a problem because Kayla doesn't always pay the best attention, so we could easily be snuck up on if we weren't careful.
"Hello, my wonderful family!"
"Aiden! Aiden! Did you bring Heave with you? Did you? Well?!"
"How could she resist coming to see you Maddison? Besides, when I told her Mom was making waffles, she practically ran out the door!"
"Haha you two. It's not my fault Mom makes perfect waffles! Where is everyone else, Maddy?"
" McKenzie is in her room finishing a drawing she made, Anthony is helping Dad finish the whipped cream, Mom is also in the kitchen making waffles, and I'm here!"
"You sure know a lot for an eight-year-old Maddy. You're one of the smartest people I know! Maybe you should be Queen instead of me!"
"No way! I'm a princess. You will be Queen!"
"Okay you two enough royalty talk, it's waffle time!" As soon as the word waffle left Aiden's lips, McKenzie comes flying down the stairs and straight into the kitchen, not even acknowledging our presence.
The rest of us follow, hot on her heals, ready to devour the huge stack of fluffy deliciousness.
"There you guys are! We were starting to think Aiden forgot to tell you we were having breakfast as a family! How are my two babies?"
"We're great Mom!"
"And Starving!" With that being said, we all dive into our plates shoveling food down our throats, barely breathing in between bites.
When everyone is full, we all stay and sit, catching up and telling jokes.
How I wish things could always been this great and simple.
Me too girl. Me too.
After breakfast I went to the training grounds so I could train before the pack got there. For some reason I hate training in front of them. I guess I'm just scared that Kayla will get upset and hurt someone.
As I get to the grounds I see my best friend Ariane arguing with Ryan, Aiden' best friend. Those two have never gotten along no matter what was going on.
If they were in the same room they would be at each other's throats in seconds.
Ariane is the daughter of Livia who is like my moms assistant but also her friend?
I don't know how this came to be because they only started being around each other after Livia challenged my mom for the title of Queen.
Strange way to become friends let me tell you.
Ryan is the son of Adaline and Reginald the packs Beta and Beta Female. He always finds a way to pick on Ariane ever since we were little.
Aiden and I have a bet going that when Ariane turns eighteen, which happens to be the night of the Ball in three days, they will find out they are mates.
Aiden thinks I'm insane. Whoever wins gets to have the other twin be their servant for a week so I'm looking forward to it.
"What are you two arguing about now? Seriously is it so hard to get along for five minutes?" Ariane and Ryan both snap their necks to me and roll their eyes at me.
"If Ryan would mind his own business for once we wouldn't be having this argument!" I turn my head to Ryan and see a smirk dancing across his lips.
"Oh sure. I'm the bad guy. I just think that if you are gonna wear that dress to the Ball, people are gonna stare and you should know your mate won't be very happy. You know how wolves can be... Just trying to help ya out."
"Ugh you are so irritating! Why don't you go run into the woods and get attacked by Rouges! At least then I could get some peace and quiet!"
"No way Ariane, you would miss me too much. Admit it. You love me."
"Not in a million years!" It's my turn to roll my eyes.
"If you two don't mind... I came here to train but since you won't stop arguing I guess I will have to come back later. Ariane just so you know, I'm sure your mate will love your dress. Now if you will excuse me."
I turn on my heel and walk toward the tree line. I find a good spot to shift and hide my clothes inside a tree. I let Kayla come forward and immediately shift into my wolf.
Every sense heightens as I begin to run,
weaving in and out of trees and jumping over fallen logs. I come across a few deers and a couple rabbits as I race by.
When I make it to our boarder I stop and walk to the left toward the river. I lay down and rest by the waters edge feeling peaceful and carefree.
That is until I smell the most amazing scent I have ever smelled before.
Go find the source of that scent! If you
won't, I will!
Okay I'm going! Jeez you are so impatient!
I get up and sniff the air, trying to find which direction the scent came from. Heading back towards the boarder the scent gets stronger and stronger.
