She slowly opened her eyes and finding her self in an unfamiliar environment she got up despite the pain she was in.

"don't get up just lay down. " Nathan could see the panic in her face

" who are you?"

" I'm ....." even before he could finish his sentence

" where am I?" he sat on the bed and recalled the events of the previous night in his head . he was driving home when he saw a girl coming from the woods and almost hit her he got out of the car and when he helped her got up she started begging him for help

" help please help me they are coming after me . " she almost immediately passed out after that incedent and now she could even remember the man who saved her. He looked at her and could see that she seemed to be having some kind of panic attack , she firmly gripped in his hand,

" I can't breath ," he got up and called for the doctor who came in with three nurses

"doctor what's wrong with her?" the nurse seemed to have injected her with something which led her unconscious the doctor kept examining her .

" she seems fine she just had a panic attack and this will keep happening and if it does you will have to learn how to keep her calm." he nodded "might I ask what really happened to her she does not look all too good?"

"I don't know doc I just found her this way "

" well then I shall leave you too it and when she gets up talk to her gently don't make her feel tense " he walked out and went of to another room . Nathan sat on a chair next to the window and started thinking. It wasn't long before before she awoke once more this time she seemed to remember where she was .

" hi how are you feeling ?

" I'm ok who are you?" she put her hand on her head

" I'm Nathan willows do you remember me?"

" what am I doing here " she totally ignored his question. He tried to think of an easy way of saying I almost hit you with my car while you were being chased by some goons , but I saved you and now you are in a hospital bed ,ooh and I think your leg is broken

" you were ijured so I brought you to hospital, wait don't you remember how you got here?"that question took shocked her for some reason for a moment she looked as though she wasn't breathing , the suddenly her face went pale and her eyes teared up

" I don't remember , I don't remember anything I........ can't remember a single thing what's wrong with me ." she started sobbing softly . Nathan moved close to her and put his arms around her , at that moment he couldn't do anything about her situation and for some reason he knew that his life has changed.

Nathan called the doctor after calming her down he sat on the bed and watched as the doctor asked her questions. The look in her eyes showed how scared she was of what was happening. The doctor called him to the side after he was done

" according to the results we got from this morning she has no injury to the head or anything like so this must be her brain trying to forget a traumatic event which got her into shock and now she can't remember anything."

" is there anything we can do doc ."

" well the good thing is this isn't permanent so if you just care for her and keep her in a good state of mind I think she will recall something , but she will have to go for therapy. She is stable as for now and I think all we can do for now is just keep her here for a few days just to keep an eye on her." Nathan shifted his attention to her , he didn't even get to know her name and now she doesn't even know who she is she looked confused and scared but he could see that she had some kind of inner peace despite what was happening. When the doctor left he went and sat by her bed.

" what's my name?" he couldn't answer that and he knew that lying wasn't even going to be an option in this situation.

"uummm well I don't know , you passed out before I could get your name. "

" I've always liked the Marlene." her ability to see past her situation was simply fascinating to Nathan.

" I guess that will work , Marlene it is . " she smiled at him and for some reason it made him feel at peace . The few days spent in hospital well by fast Nathan passed by to see her every day after work and during his breaks and he kept her busy with books and games. No one really bothered to know where she came from or who she really was the doctor thought she might have forgotten who she was because of an experience and untill they knew what happened they wouldn't take the chance to introduce her to anything that might hurt her. With the permission from the authority Marlene was allowed to stay with Marlene untill they information about her family and what she might have been running away from.

the drive to Nathan's house was quite as the atmosphere was tense as both Nathan and Marlene were worried she might not recover or that she might and her demons would be back to haunt her.

" We are here " the stoped in front of a luxurious looking house which was pretty much in the midst of more luxurious houses which were at equal distance not so close to each other. Though the location wasn't too far from others the peace and quiet the area had gave Marlene some sense of security. She was sure that she would would like staying there. Since she didn't say a word for quite a while Nathan got a little bit worried.

" is everything alright?"

" yeah I'm good."

They got out of the car Nathan walked over to her side helping her to walk up the steps.

" I'm good don't worry I can walk." he just smiled and unlocked the door they walked in and Marlene's eyes were all over the place. they took of their shoes and took of their coats.

" I thinking if your not too tired we can head out get something to eat then maybe do some shopping??"

" I can cook something if you want ."

" the kitchen is empty I think we'll just have to go grocery shopping as well "

" well then let's be on our way then." the headed back to the car and went to the mall.

" I'll go get the groceries you go do your shopping. " he gave her his credit card and for a moment she couldn't quiet understand why he was doing this. Without much of a word he turned and went towards the shop then he remembered he had to get her a cell phone first .

" Marlene , " she called after her . She turned towards him " I think we'd better get you a cell phone first. just in case you need anything. " she couldn't quite complain about anything though she reluctantly agreed . After buying the phone he put his number in her phone and went his way .

" call me when your done ." he was sure he did not have a clue if what he needed to buy but as long as they were fruits and vegetables he was good. it didn't take so long until Marlene called her

" is everything good over their? " he asked

" yeah , I'm done over here."

" I'm still in the grocery shop do you know where that is ? "

" yeah I see it I'll be right with you " for a moment there he was happy coz he wasn't good at grocery shopping. a few seconds later she walked in the store

" you do your shopping fast "

" I didn't know I was supposed to max out your credit card . "

" well I thank you for not maxing out my credit card " she handed over the card

" are you sure you got everything you needed ?? "

" don't worry about me , wait what are those called ?" she towards the trolley ,

" tinny cabbages? " she laughed holding them up ,

" brussel sprouts , your more of the take out guy aren't you? " he lowered his head in shame," why don't you go buy some snacks I trust you know how they look like , I'll finish up with the groceries ." he chuckled and walked away .

" not a man of many words I guess." she shrugged and proceeded with the shopping . Nathan was back almost immediately ,

" do you like dark or white chocolate?"

" white , do you prefer thick or light cream?"

"what is the difference ? "

" never mind that, I'll get back to it shall I " only then did he notice her British accent . He started wondering how she got herself to Australia . he went away a while later she over to him

"what type of cheese do you fancy I for one find mozzarella a little but more easier to work with but......"

"you get whatever you want heck you can buy the whole store if it pleases you." for some reason that oddly satisfied her. they kept going back and forth inquiring the others preferences when all was done they headed back to the car with a while lot of bags

" I think we emptied your bank account now." they put the bags in the back.

" don't you worry about my bank account , " they headed back home . The excitement on Marlene's face was simply enlightening they got in the house.

" should I give you a tour of the house and where things are?"

" no need for troubling yourself I'd prefer finding out for myself ."

" let's get cooking ."
