The sky is starless. The moonlight being the only source of vision, I made my way through the dense forest.
I am not gonna lie, but Mr. Ross’ men got me good this time.
I wasn’t expecting them to ambush me during the dealings
Those nasty Russian pigs, they could have waited at least till I was done speaking, manner less bafoons…
I looked down at my thighs, a deep slash of knife stretched across my left thigh, thick crimson blood oozing out of it. It made my blood boil.
I am suppose to have lunch with Jake for god’s sake!!!
But hey, at least I gave a painful death to the bastard who gave me this wound after all

I took my coat off, removed the safety of my pistol and secured the briefcase tightly in my arms.
As I saw my car, I peaked inside it.

Who knows, those Russian pigs could have installed a bomb for all they care…
Starting the car, I made my way to my apartment, thinking what my next move will be

I parked the car on the side of the road
The pain soaring though my leg
Opening the water bottle, I drank almost all of its content
Tying up my thigh with a handkerchief, which almost turned red, I again tried to get to my apartment.

Half dead-Half alive , I made my way to my apartment
Closing the door, I got my first aid kit and started treating the wound

I washed myself and sat on my bed wishing for sleep to overtake me.
Halfway though night( or rather morning ), my phone ringed…
My sleepy *** simply ignored it… muting the device, I went back to sleep

But no, my phone buzzed again…
I reluctantly took my phone and saw the caller id.
There was no caller ID. It was not a saved contact
But, phone number was imprinted in my brain
I could recite the number even if I was asleep
I would recognise the number even on my deathbed
Smiling, I took the call put it on speakers.

I am the only girl whose name itself instill fear in people. If I become one of those women who can’t keep her emotions in check, I’ll loose respect in Jacob’s eye. He may not admit it, but I know he has a little respect for me.
So I trickle this problem in the only way I know… I TEASE HIM
I tease him in hopes that he does not look right though me
I tease him so does not see right past through my feelings

A Day In My Life
The next day I woke up to sore body and numb leg. It was infuriating!
And honestly I was upset about last night too. How could Jake cancel our plans like that… that too for Nina.
After disinfecting the wound and bandaging it again. I made my way to my mansion.
That’s right! I have multiple houses and apartments scattered across the country. And many good bungalows overseas too.
But, my mansion is MY HAPPY PLACE. After a long day of work, nothing relaxes me as having a good coffee with a interesting book in hand.
As I approached my mansion, the security guard, Ethan, opened the main gate.
Not that it was necessary, the gates are automated… my mansion is equipped with the best advanced security system. It would have opened automatically with face recognition.

Ethan was a very happy-go-lucky guy. You could always see him smiling. He was my housekeeper’s son.
He used to be a street fighter but due to some complications ( or rather heartbreak), he left street fighting. And I employed him.
I made my way to my 7 roomed mansion. It was equipped with an inbuilt gym and shooting range in the basement, a huge living and dining room along with a kitchen on ground floor. There were 4 guest rooms on the first floor with 4 full furnished bathrooms. The second floor had 2 bedrooms which were a lot bigger than the guest rooms along with recreational room.
And lastly, the top floor. MY FLOOR. I enjoy my peace and quiet so I made a whole flood dedicated to me. Along with my bedroom, which was equivalent to a 5-star presidential suite, I had my own research lab.
No one was allowed on my floor, which meant that the task of cleaning was solely mine.

I took a quick shower and made my way to the dining table
Marina served me a hard brewed black coffee with a simple veg salad. I could never digest a full course breakfast. I rarely ate breakfast.
My watch showed me that if I have to reach my office, I’ll have to leave in 5 minutes.
After explaining some minor things to my butler, I took my Tesla and headed for THE NIGHTINGALE CORPORATION.
Me being proficient in medicine and surgery, Jacob and I established the Nightingale Corporation.
It is the best corporation in the field of modern medicine and healthcare. It has the best research lab in the world and the best scientists.
There are 675 mega hospitals under the Nightingale corporation all over the world.
And now, we have expanded the expertise to cosmic researches too.
So to clarify, THE NIGHTINGALE is a research centre, a development centre and also manufacturing and producing unit.
All in all, it is a quadrillion dollar company which holds power all over the world.
And me ? I am the CEO of the company.
I reached my company. The hundred storey building towering the sky and reached for the presidential elevator.
The receptionist and the employees wishing me morning and looking at me with awe.
I pressed 49 on the elevator and waited for my floor.
As I set foot on my floor, all the employees froze in front of me.
I may have this effect on them. They all shivered in terror.

My tone as authoritative as ever.
They all were still frozen. I did not like this one bit.

I made my way to my cabin and switched on the air conditioner. Shortly after, I was greeted by my assistant.

This made me feel good. For the past 3 years the research department was studying about the potential medicine to treat influenza, but they had no progress. It was ME, who gave the formula last month. Not that she needs to know about that. No one ones about it. I secretly feeded the formula in the computer, and everyone thought it was computer generated.
