But never had the chance to pursue fine arts. His father wanted him to become a lawyer, his mother on the other hand wanted him to be a doctor working in a big hospital. Taehyung chose the latter quite closely and technically. He’s a vet and he has a clinic just downtown which these days, in his knowledge, became famous. It’s not grand as his parents wanted but atleast he is happy. It’s what he wanted.
But when he passes by an atelier one day on his way to work, he couldn’t help but get interested. Infront of him there’s a big glass window with “Ruby Atelier” written on it in pretty calligraphy . Inside, people are seated in circle, easel and working materials in front of them. In the center, a big flower vase is set on a small table and by the looks of it, the young artists, Taehyung could tell are teenagers, are painting it in their own style and from their own perspective.
It awakens something in him he had buried years ago. His love for art.
A door suddenly opens startling Taehyung. He looks over to see a woman in front of the doorway. She’s wearing a black apron and if the paints on her fingers and wrists aren’t obvious already, she must be one of those artists in there.
The young woman smiles and Taehyung feels himself startled. Her smile is bright...too bright.
Jennie
Sorry for startling you. Uhm I saw you watching, I just...Are you perhaps interested? I mean
Jennie
You were standing here for quite sometime now. I wondered if you are.
Taehyung
Actually, I am. I didn’t know we have an atelier on this side of the town.
The woman closes the door behind her and leaned on it, crossing her arms in front of her. Taehyung manages to finally take a good look of her. She’s pretty...really pretty, his brain screams.
Jennie
Oh yeah. Only opened it last last week so, must be the reason why.
Taehyung
You own this place?
She simply nods her head. Taehyung is surprised even more. So this woman is the same age of him? he thinks.
Jennie
Yeah. I’m Jennie, by the way. Kim Jennie.
Jennie extends a hand to him to which Taehyung reaches for and shakes.
Taehyung
Taehyung. I own a vet clinic just a few blocks away. I think you might know. It’s Yeontan’s Lil Paw Clinic. I mean it’s kinda a corny name but...well yeah uhm it’s named after my dog so...
Jennie suddenly giggles and Taehyung think that’s it. Jennie is cute and he might not or might have a crush on her.
Taehyung
So I believe you’re the master artist here?
Jennie
Well. Anyway, I should visit your clinic sometime. With my dog.
Taehyung
Yeah sure. Here’s my business card. You can call and set up an appointment. I’d be glad to attend to your dog.
Jennie
Oh thanks I guess uhm Dr. Kim?
Jennie
Well, I dont have mine yet but if you’re still interested you can stop by anytime. I need people to pay for my bills haha
Taehyung couldn’t help but laugh with her joke. Jennie is so cute in his eyes.
Taehyung
Okay. I’ll keep that in mind, Jennie-ssi.
Jennie
Okay. I guess I’ll see you around, Dr. Kim.
Taehyung
Yeah. Bye, Jennie-ssi.
Jennie gives him one last smile before she is yanking the door open and closes it behind her, leaving Taehyung outside who still can’t fully process what just happened. But still, it doesn’t stop a smile to form on his lips, too.
