My name is Layla Anne. I am 15 years old. My family and I got approved to move into this old, abandoned house. It’s probably run down from just sitting and nobody taking care of it. “Mom, what type of house are we moving into?” asked Layla. I just hope she doesn’t say an old rundown house. “Well Layla, I really don’t know,” said Angela. We had about 2 ½ hours to go until we arrived at the house. I was getting hungry along the way. “Hey dad, can we stop somewhere stop somewhere to get something to eat?” asked Layla. “There is probably a small gas station about a mile up the road. Plus, I must put more gas in the car. We will stop for a few minutes.” Said dad. In the meantime, I fell asleep for a bit. “Layla, wake up, we arrived at the gas station. Get out and stretch your legs and get something to eat while I fill up on gas,” said dad. I got a chicken sandwich and a water. Mom didn’t want anything. Dad went inside and got some food and paid for gas. We are on the road again. To me going down the road looking at the side of the road is sort of creepy. I’m not sure why it just is. I see old trees, like they caught fire at some point. What is also odd, there is no animals to be seen. No deer, squirrels, birds, coyotes, insects or anything. Just hope I see some animals soon. “Hey mom, why haven’t I seen any animals?” ask Layla. It worries me that I don’t see any animals or much traffic at that. “Layla, your question is as good as mine,” said mom. I began looking at the sky and watching and wondering why it was turning black as we drove on. “Hmm, it looks like it might rain,” said dad. To me it didn’t look like it was going to rain, it looked like something evil. “Honey, was is up with the sky,” asked mom. Something doesn’t feel right to me. “We are about 15 minutes away from the house,” said dad. I looked out the window and sighed because I was not ready to see this house. Now it seems like we are almost there. Mom and dad seem excited but not excited at the same time. I still don’t see any animals and no other traffic. “I see the driveway and looks a way back,” said dad. We pull in the driveway and all I see is black trees and no daylight around. Getting bad vibes about this place and its not good. As we are pulling up to the house, I see a black figure go into the woods. “Let’s not unload the car yet, until we get a good look at the house,” said dad. “Sounds good to us,” said mom and me. The porch looked like it hasn’t been taken care of for a long time. I picked a broom and started to sweep the porch. “Layla, start with the porch and get it picked up,” said mom. So, I got to cleaning and soon I had it looking like new. Mom came out of the house and looked at the porch and smiled. Dad comes out of the house and says, “Good Job, Layla,”. As I was finishing up, I kept hearing a strange noise beside the house. It was hard to make out the sound. “Hey mom, can I have your help with something?” asked Layla. Mom came out and walked off the porch with me and around the side of the house. When we got to the side of the house, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was an animal, but I wasn’t sure what kind of animal. “This is the first animal I have seen since we got here, mom,” said Layla. I looked around and didn’t see any other animals. I took my jacket off and wrapped it around the animal. “Let’s take this poor animal inside and clean it up,” said mom. As we were walking back toward the front of the house, the animal started to make a loud noise. We took the animal inside and got it cleaned up and looking better. Once we dried the animal off, the color of the animal is blondish, whitish. I glanced outside and saw four strange looking figures standing around the van. “Dad, look I see strange looking things walking around the van,” said Layla. So, dad went outside to investigate what was happening. Once he stepped on the porch the strange things took off running. I went upstairs to see what kind of rooms there are. The floors have something sticky and green all over it. I saw a room at the end of the hallway and at first, I was scared to go see inside. Then mom yelled at me to come downstairs to help her pick up the living room. The small animal ran up to me then to the front door. I opened the door, and it bolted out toward the dark woods. Mom told me that it probably went to use the bathroom where nobody can see it. Once we started on the living room, it didn’t look so bad. Dad went out to go get some boxes from the car. He come back in and set two boxes down and said, “Let’s get those unpacked first then we will do the rest,”. We started to unpack boxes and I found my old stuff bear that I had I growing up. I looked at mom and said, “I am glad we moved from the city to here”. Then I took an old rag and began to wipe the fireplace down. I took pictures and placed them along the fireplace and put my little baby trophy up too. “Hey, Layla, want to help me move this old couch outside?” asked mom. “Sure,” I said. As I was walking toward mom, I could feel the floor breathing.
