The Hallows family are the "unusual" type of family in their neighborhood. Their daughter, who was graduating from high school, was one of the reasons for their reputation.
Aria was a curious girl. Her flaming red hair stood out visibly among the crowd of youngsters at her school. Her vivid emerald- green eyes gave boys a flutter with her gaze. But not only is this weird about her, because her schoolmates discovered her secret liking for women. Indeed, people bully her and she is widely known as the "queer" kid.
Aria felt extremely hurt by her parents actions. Her parents, ever since they foundh out the secret which she tried so hard to hush up, which was her admiration of the same gender, has pushed her aside and stood admiring other children of relatives and friends. Aria was often overshadowed by her twin sister, Ana, who, in Aria's opinion, was pulled straight from hell.
However, when Aria was eighteen, this happened.
It was a chilly night in December when police sirens broke the silence. Aria ran up the dark alleyway as the police arrived. "Hurry, catch her!" an officer shouted.
Breath hanging in mists, Aria blindly sprinted up the path. After a few minutes, Aria froze. It was a dead end. Police cornered her to the wall, unable to hide their glee.
"After all these years, we finally got you! Tut, tut, little kitty, there's no escape" one of them whispered.
Aria laughed out loud, her laugh breaking the ringing silence. Her stomach ached. The police looked at her in alarm.
"officer, would I hand myself in that easily? You know, I still got one last trick up my sleeve, right?" she told a bewildered policeman.
" All my knowledge of hacking can't go to waste, do you agree? All your efforts to get me are pathetic. Now... sit back and watch the magic trick." she added somewhat slyly.
There was a bang and a shout as Aria turned on the spot, swished her cloak , and disappeared from the area.
...And that was the we could ever see of Aria ever again...
...Or Was It? ...
Aria reappeared on an unfamiliar building which had a bird's-eye view from above. Breathing into the cold night air, she relaxed her grip on the railings. Everything was going to be alright... no one would find her anymore... she is safe...
...How very wrong she was...
There was a rustle coming from behind Aria, a crack and someone materialized out of thin air. The mysterious figure stumbled and slipped, as if new to teleporting from places.
"Fancy seeing you here, Hallows"
Aria wheeled around, arm grasping the handle of the dagger in her pockets, but too late: the newcomer pounced on her victim, sending her sprawled on the concrete roof.
She chuckled weakly. So little Black decided to get a hold of her single-handedly... How pathetic.
Aria stood up, dusting her cloak, and said gruffly, "how did you find me? I swear I removed all the tracking devices from me. I even destroyed them!" Black looked up at her and fixed her with a calculating look, and slowly replied "how could I not? I sensed you in the area, of course". Aria smirked at Black. "Black, Hun. Lower your hood, it's not that cold" she whispered at her ear.
Black sighed and pulled down the veil. Black was a girl. Her dark hair covered her eyes, which were astonishingly pearl-blue. her light pale skin made her look transparent under the moonlight.
Suddenly, Aria realized she was fighting the impulse to cry. Apparently Black noticed too, because she wrapped her in a warm hug and muttered, "Ari, love? What's up?"
Aria mopped her eyes, and replied "Black, I've been t-thinking... my f-family hates me. My school b-bullies me and my neighb-bors say things b-b-behind my back. And n-now the police are trying to a-arrest me! i-i feel like doing suicide! h-help me, B-black!"
Black stared at her tear-stained face, and cupped it in her palm." Ari! how could you think that? I love you! you have me, and I have you! if I lose you, how can I be happy again?" Black shouted, startling Aria.
Aria couldn't take it anymore.
She prised her fingers away from her face. Looking up, the full moon shone ahead. When will she see it again? Gulping fresh air, Aria strode to the edge of the building. It seemed like her heart was forming a new mission: to fulfill a lifetime's worth of heartbeats before she jumps. Then, as if she meant to do it all along, she jumped down, diving to the street below...
...And she died...
