*My Nectar*

“Amber? Amber?” called out someone. “Amber? Wake up dear you’re gonna be late for your first day.” Amber slowly opened her eyes and saw.- “Mother?.” Amber’s kind-looking mum smiled and said. “Are you up? Let’s go!. I made breakfast for you, and before going down, clean up first and wear your uniform okay?”. “Okay mum, thank you for working hard for me”. Said Amber while hugging her mother. The young girl’s mother then left and so Amber got up from her bed and made her way to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth, washed her face and brushed her hair. She came back to her room and opened her pink-flower pattern closet, and pulled out her very own uniform.

“I never thought this day would ever come for me” mumbled Amber while smiling to herself “Mum, Dad?? Are you looking at me from above?”. Thought Amber while wiping away her tears.

She wore her uniform and unlocked her door incase someone would visit her, she then made her way to her dressing table and thought to herself. “Hmm.... What hairstyle should I do?...Pigtails?? No!!“. Amber tried many silly hairstyles and made herself laughed just then her father walked in after a knock. “May I come i- OH GOODNESS ME??? Amber what happened to your hair????!!!” exclaimed her father. “Ahaha... umm help needed father?? Hehe” Amber awkwardly said.Her father made his way to her and took the comb from her hand, and gently untangled the messy hair of Amber’s. He was soon done and Amber looked- “There done!! You look gorgeous Amber!!” complemented her father. Amber then gasped after looking at the mirror and thanked her father by saying. “Thank you father!! I really do look pretty and I love this hairstyle!!” Said Amber swinging her long smooth dark hair from left to right. “Indeed” laughed her father. “Now let’s go, breakfast is ready”. “Okay ”, replied Abby.

After breakfast Amber went on washing the dirty dishes. “Amber? You really don’t have to do that darling” said her mum. “It’s okay really mummy! I’m a big girl after all!” giggled Amber. After the sweet moment, it was time for Amber to leave for her very first day in a new school. “All the best dear and, don’t forget to have fun” said Amber’s mum hugging her. “Yes mummy!! I’ll share my lunch too!” exclaimed Amber. “Alright!! Enough this mother-daughter thingy and Amber? Let’s go!” said her father in a sarcastic-jealous manner.

The mother and daughter laughed and so did her father. Amber then went inside her car and sat infront, beside her dad. “Are you nervous, Amber?” questioned her father. “U-uhh, How would I say thi-this? Ye-yes I think so!” replied Amber awkwardly. They both had a little chat, it was a 15 minutes drive without the traffic interrupting. So Amber reached abit earlier than expected.

“Bye Amber, have fun~!” said her father as he drove away. Now Amber was all by herself and wandered to her classroom, it took a little while for her but she finally managed to get there. And so one of the dark-haired girl said- “Are you new here?” “O-oh me?? Yes I am!” replied Amber. “Okay well, my name is Bella and that one in the corner is Rebecca and beside her is Zoey” smiled the girls as she introduced them to Amber. “Nice to meet you all!” she said turning red “I’m Amber”. “The teacher has indeed informed us about a newcomer” said Zoey making her way to the two girls standing. “Oh? Did she?”. Asked Amber. The girls laughed and said “No! Amber! He’s a He!! ” “Opps!! I’m sorry!!“. Apologized Amber.

“Nevermind! .Come we’ll show you to your desk”. said Rebecca. The girls showed Amber her desk, she was seated next to a quite, calm- looking young lad. “Hmm... Good luck for you Amber you’re seated near the quite boy!!” said Bella teasingly with her friends laughing in the back. “Hey! That’s not nice” said Amber. “Oh whatever! Do you want to go to the playground??” asked Zoey “No thank you Zoey, I have alot to catch-up on” said Amber sweetly. “Okay, Bye!” said the girls .

Amber then went to her seat and took out her ruler, school-dairy, and her pencil bag and sat down to learn the school anthem. “Should I talk to him?.. Hmm.. I’ve never talked to a boy before ..I’m scared” thought Amber to herself. “U-um” hesitated Amber. “...Do you want something?” said the boy coldly after moving his book to see cute Amber. “A-ah nothing!! I just wanted to ask you, if you wanted to be friends?” said Amber turning beet-red as she is/was very introverted .“Huh??Me?” said the boy in a calm tone and reading the book again. “And if you don’t want trouble new-girl. You’d better braid your long hair”. “Oh.. Is this hairstyle not allowed” questioned Amber while looking at her hair. “The boy then breathed in and said “No it isn’t” , but Amber felt it warm at his tone as she liked quite people and said “Thank you uhh. But I don’t know how to braid my hair. My father did it for me”. “It’s Kevin not ‘uhh’ and come and sit on my chair” said Kevin.” While standing up and going behind his chair. “U-uh are you sure?” hesitated Amber. “Yeah” said Kevin.

Amber hesitantly made her way to Kevin’s chair and sat on it. Kevin then took out some rubber-bands from his blazer and started to to untangle Amber’s hair gently. “Woah, why do you have rubber-bands with you? questioned Amber. “Ohh.. Bella asked me to braid her hair and told me to hold on into these incase her one breaks” said Kevin. “Ohh. Won’t she need it though? asked Amber. “No, it’s fine. She said ‘incase’ and I’m sure she won’t need it.” And Amber responded. “Okay”.

He was braiding and heard Amber said “Thank you so much, you are very nice. I’m glad I’m seated next to you” said Amber smiling and looking back at Kevin. He was surprised, he wanted to smile back at her but he choose to say “Can you sit straight?” said Kevin calmly . Amber then giggled as she understood how Kevin was “What are you even laughing for??” said Kevin while braiding Amber’s hair. “Nothing” said Amber while clearing her throat. Kevin then tied Amber’s hair, after he was done, he took his book from his desk and said while looking back at Amber “I’ll be in the garden, wanna join?“. “Sure I’d love that!” said Amber.

The two classmates were walking together. Kevin was about to say something but he was cut off by a tall and buff male. “Hey! Kevin” said the boy “Oh hey.” Said the emotionless Kevin.

Just as the unbothered Kevin was about to leave, he got pulled back by someone.“And who are you?” questioned Amber while grabbing Kevin’s hand. Kevin was just standing there and looking at the two students chatting. “I’m Cody” said Cody “You’re the new girl, right?” “Yes, I am” said Amber. “Come with me, I’ll give you a school tour” said Cody while grabbing Amber’s hand. “No thank you, Cody. I was just about to go to the garden with Kevin.” Amber said kindly. ” Later the bell rang soon and both the students quietly went back to their classes. “Are you the new girl?” said her homeroom teacher while grabbing Amber’s hand. “Yes, Sir” Amber said politely.

“You can go inside first, Kevin” said the teacher. Kevin then quietly walked inside. “I’ll go inside first and I’ll call you to come okay?” said the teacher while walking inside the classroom. “Okay students. Today we have a new-comer and I hope you’ll be nice to her.” said the kind teacher. The students of the class then cheered. The boys hoped it was a girl, while the girls hoped she’d be friends with them. The class was loud until the teacher said-

“You may come in now dear.” Just then a short yet pretty girl walked in. The boys were extremely happy and so were the girls. “Introduce yourself please” said the teacher “U-uh” said the beet-red girl while looking down. “My name is Amber, and I’m 17 years old. Nice to meet you all and I hope you’ll treat me well.” “Lovely! I suppose you know your seat Amber?” questioned the teacher. “Yes, sir” said Amber walking to her seat. “Amber?” called out the teacher. “Do you have friends dear?“. “Yes, sir” said Amber while standing up in her seat. “And who are they if I may ask?” ask the teacher. "Kevin, Bella, Zoey, Rebecca and Cody, sir and along with all my classmates.” said Amber shyly. “Aww!!” exclaimed the students at the cuteness of the shy girl.

“Okay, you may sit now. Amber.” chuckled the teacher. "Okay so Miss. Marry said that you all will have a play in the 3 period so, 1st and 2nd period will be a 0 period" . The students celebrated with joy and got out of their places. “Thank you class.” Said the teacher as he went out of the class. The students then gathered around Amber and started asking many questions. Amber was very red and didn’t know what to say. Kevin just sat there as was reading a book.

After the fuss the students went divided into 4 groups and went into separate corners. Amber just sat at her place and continued to complete her works, as she joined the school in the middle of April. The students played, laughed and worked hard for the play.

Soon the second bell rang. The teacher walked inside the class after 10-12 minutes. “Okay students. We will start with random Groups starting from 1,4,2 and lastly 3.” The students agreed and sat in the places, apart from group 1. “Amber?” said the teacher. “You can enjoy and watch the play okay? After all the plays, you have to attend it so watch carefully”. “Okay mam.” said Amber while putting her pencil bag and 2 copies in her desk. In each group there were 11 students, for there were 45 students including Amber in one class. So group 1 acted the play of “Snow white”. Each play has a time limit of 30 minutes to finish the play.

Group 4 act the play of “Cinderella”, Group 2 act the play that they made-up by themselves. The students of each group clapped and whistled at each play. Amber was surprised at how good the acting of students were. Amber was especially happy and excited to see Group 3, for all of her well known-friends were there. Kevin, Zoey, Cody, Rebecca and Bella. Group 3 also act a play of their own. In this play Kevin was a knight who fell in love with a princess, Zoey. As the play continued on, Amber felt a little uneasy to watch the two student’s faces to close.

She choose to ignore the feeling and pretended to enjoy the play. It was a long literature class, for the teacher took 3 lessons of the other teachers. “Students!!! That was so lovely so!!!. Now I’m going to announce who won the first place. Actually Amber! You were one of the audience so you might as well tell us your opinions. “H-huh? Are you sure mam?” questioned Amber hesitantly.

“Of course, now. Come here and announce your opinion.” said the teacher. Amber walked out of her place nervously and went to stand on the platform and said.- “U-um, firstly in my opinion I think in first place, it should be Group 3.” The students asked why and so did the teacher. And she responded with a- “I think it was so cute and I could imagine that they were in a garden and Zoey wearing a pretty dress and Kevin in an armor, it was beautiful but was do you guys think?”. A male student from Group 1 named Melvin said-

“I think so too! It indeed looked like fantasy and I agree with Amber, right guys?“. The students cheered with Melvin and so they continued to ask Amber the other winners and asked what their mistake was. It was a friendly classroom and no-one minded if they win or lose.

The time slowly went by and it was already the results day for the exam they did for Half-yearly.

And so the Literature teacher asked all the students to do a play for the concert for the school. And the play was taken from the novel “Mansfield Park” by the author ” Jane Austen” and the dance from “Cindrella” . And they finally reached the part where they had a ball. They all took their partners and started to dance. Cody was paired with Amber, Kevin with Bella, Rebecca and Melvin and Zoey with Alexander. All the girls had to wear high heels and Amber was not used to it.

When it was the time to spin and carry all the girls around, . All the girls landed perfectly and in sync but unfortunately, Amber sprained her ankle was going to fall down. Luckily a boy came and danced bridal-style with Amber, so she won’t have to use her legs. Both the students blushed and finally the play was over. All the students were in the backstage taking off their make-up, dress etc. And then one student came up to Kevin and said-

“You dance so nicely Kevin. Teach me some day will ya? But damn I nearly fell down if Cody didn’t hold me!” said Bella while laughing. “Oh, yeah sure why not? And I’m sorry” said Kevin shyly while nervously rubbing his neck with his right hand. “Heyy!! You're finally starting to show your emotions again!! That’s great!” exclaimed Melvin patting Kevin’s back. “You think so? Then I’ll try to show more emotions.” said the emotionless Kevin. “Sorry I’ll be right with you.” Said Kevin while leaving Bella and Melvin.

“Hey, how’s your leg?” said Kevin concerned. “He’s concerned?” thought Amber. “But Melvin said-“.

It was around the Half-yearly exams and, only Melvin and Amber had finished so they could go home or do whatever they want. So Melvin asked Amber this questioned- “The exam was pretty easy right?” “Yeah!! It was! I hope Kevin finishes fast!!” exclaimed Amber. Melvin then smirked and said- “You like him don’t you?” “W-w-w-what?? Me?? Ahaha” Amber laughed awkwardly in a high-pitched tone. “Oh please! Don’t be shy it’s okay. I won’t tell anyone!” exclaimed Melvin. “And a girl’s voices always get high-pitched when they lie”.Amber turned beet-red and just walked on just then Melvin questioned. “What made you interested in him, Amber?” “Oh I don’t know.. Everything? His personality, looks, they way he is, his scent”. Amber was talking so fast that even Melvin was too stunned to speak. Melvin just laughed until he heard a question from Amber which was- “I just want him to express his emotions more.” “Oh.. Amber you don’t know what happened to him.. Don’t you? questioned Melvin coldly. “Hmm? No but what happened? asked Amber tilting her head.

The boy deeply inhaled and said- “5 years ago when he was 12 years old.. His mother had an accident and sadly passed away... Kevin was so shocked, and even fainted. When he woke up, there was nobody else apart from his aunt. His father passed due to a heart-attack. They later found out his condition, at first his relatives thought he didn’t show any emotions because he was still sad about the sudden deaths, but they soon found out that he.. became emotionless. Till now we’re all trying to bring back his emotions back..“. Amber’s cheeks were drowned in tears, she slowly turned back to someone’s calling- “Amber? How was your exam?“. When she saw this boy she immediately ran and hugged him. “What are you crying? Are you okay?” Amber? Amber? Amber?”

“Yes?!” exclaimed Amber when she got awaked from her day-dreaming by someone. “Sorry! Did I hurt your leg?! Please don’t cry Amber!” expressed Kevin. “No Kevin I’m okay” said Amber “But you... You’re worried??“. Kevin paused and thought and realized it, he was now shocked... All the students came rushing to him and saw his shocked face. Some of the students cried including Cody and Melvin his very best-friends. All the students hugged him. And Kevin felted... love...

A year has passed on since that day. The students were about to reunite again on 14th of February.. All the students had passed their exams. Since it was their first day the school will get over at 10:30am so the students came. They complimented each other, laughed and giving each other chocolates. Amber gave chocolates to everyone in her class. Kevin then said “Thank you, Amber. You look like you’ve increased your height” “Ah really you think so? Thanks!!” smiled Amber. “I like your new haircut though, it really suits you” said Amber patting Kevin’s head.

“Looks like someone's got a Valentine” said Bella while smiling. “What’s a Valentine, Bella?” questioned Kevin. “Well according to me, Valentine means proposing or giving something special to loved ones” said Melvin while hugging Zoey. “Oh! Get your hand off me Mister!!” said flustered Zoey. “Ooooo are you two going out?” questioned Bella out of the blue while holding Cody’s hand. “Yes, we are, How about you two” smirked Melvin. Both the couples laughed. “Eyy! What’s up girl?” questioned Bella. “Where’s your ahem!?” “Oh, shut it Bella. Don’t offend me” said Rebecca while laughing. The students laughed and played. It was now 10:30 and they students got out of their classroom and ran.

“Just go for it man!!” Yeahh!! You’ll never know if you’d never try!! whispered some boys. “Alright! I’ll go” said a certain someone carrying a white blindfold. Just then Amber got blindfolded infront of her three female friends. The girls just laughed and poor Amber was just being dragged. When the dragging finally stopped Amber questioned nervously “W-who are you”. “Stand still” said someone. Just then a familiar voice said- “You can take it off now, Amber”. Amber hesitantly undo her blindfold and saw- “Kevin? What are you doing in here” “Amber?” questioned Kevin with intermediating eyes. “Y-yes?” Amber was abit scared as she has never seen this side of Kevin.

“Take it” said Kevin while holding out a huge white plastic bag. “U-uh” Amber slowing made her way to Kevin and took the bag. She took a look inside and saw a giant- “PLUSHIE!! I love plushies!! And it’s a bunny!! My favorite!! Thank you so mu-” Amber saw Kevin 5 meters away and holding a red heart-shaped box in his hand, a rose and some balloons tied to it. Just then Kevin tried to smile and said- “Amber? Wo-would you be my.. Valentine?“. Amber was so stunned and turned beet-red.. “Hehhhh?? Are you sure??” questioned Amber slowly walking towards Kevin.

“I’m more than sure” said Kevin softly. “You... You smiled..” said Amber, tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks. “Amber? Why are crying? Did someone hurt you?” said Kevin angrily. “You’re angry..” said Amber wiping her tears. “But.. My answer.. is ‘No’ I’m sorry Kevin.. I see you no other than a friend.. ” Kevin’s heart sank but not for long when he heard Amber say- “Just Kidding!!!!! Ofcourse!! I’d love to be!!” “You’d... Be my..” mumbled Kevin. “Valentine!!” shouted Amber.

Kevin cutely smiled with his eyes closed and carried Amber and spun her around causing them to giggle. “Thank you Amber!” said Kevin happily. “You... smiled” said Amber pulling both of her index fingers in both ends of his smile. “And it’s because of you!!” said Kevin. Kevin then dropped Amber and picked her back up for a piggy-back ride.

“You’re like nectar you know?” said Kevin softly. Amber laughed and said- “What?? Am I a bee now?“. “No.. nectar.. My nectar.” said Kevin. Amber turned beet-red she didn’t know what to say. ... Amber then laughed and questioned- “What do I have to do with nectar?” “You know how a butterfly gets hungry when it doesn’t eat or drink nectar? That’s how I feel. When the wild butterfly’s stomach is empty it fills it up with nectar. Just like me and you. You filled love in me and even brought me back my emotions.” said the beet-red Kevin. “U-uh” hesitated shy Amber “Thank you ... That’s so sweet of you . And thank you Kev- I mean Butterfly, for using me in your life. giggled Amber shyly and patting Kevin’s head. Just then flushed Kevin smiled and thanked shyly “No.. Thank you Amber, for coming into my life and Thank you for being-
