In a small village, a young man with eye catching silver hair was walking to a forest that was rumored to be haunted.

"Is this the place, someone commissioned me to exorcise some spirits in the middle of nowhere..."

Then a man with dark hair suddenly came out of nowhere.

"Eek! Oh, it's you...you scared me."

"Pfft...Ha ha ha.."

"Hey! you...ugh"

"Xi Mingche, why do you always appear randomly."

"So? I can appear whenever I want."

He is Xi Mingche, my spiritual sword. This is a tradition that is often performed by exorcism clans.Where you draw a certain summoning circle with your own blood. And use the spiritual powers you've gathered through training (the training you receive depends on which clan you entered). And if a spirit got attracted to your spiritual power, you have a choice to sign a contract with the spirit or keep finding other spirits.

The reason why exorcists have spiritual swords is that they are useful to exorcise ghosts and demons. And spirits sign contracts with exorcists to get stronger.

"Mingche, I've been commissioned to exorcise a ghost here. But it's quite hard to find traces about this ghost."

Spirits can see traces of spiritual power unlike exorcists, who need to use spiritual sense to faintly feel spiritual power.

I immediately went to grab a talisman from my pocket. When I can finally see it's shadows, I threw it on the ghost. Then Mingche used some of his spiritual power to form a blade. The blade pierced the ghost, the ghost dissapeared and the talisman was turned to ashes.

Most exorcists cannot see a ghost, so they rely on their instincts to be able to feel the ghost, but a small minority can see the shadow of ghosts or the appearance of the ghost.

Talismans are used by exorcists to track the ghost, and it can slow down or stop, it can even instantly exorcise them. But for demons you need to use spells in order to track them and etc. If the talisman turns into ashes, that means the ghost was exorcised, the reason why the talisman burns is because of spiritual flames (aka your soul)

Ghost is used as an umbrella term for different kinds of evil spirits. If an evil spirit can change their forms or meet other criteria to be able to get classified as demons.

"The job is finally done."

"Huaxing, once we claim the commission rewards we can go out and eat."

We went to the Exorcists Commission Building and claimed our rewards, which were 30 spiritual gold.

I only earn 15-20 spirtual gold per month, so this was a generous amount of spiritual gold for just exorcising a ghost.

Spiritual Gold is mostly used as currency by exorcists to buy goods, exorcists can exchange 30 gold taels for 1-5 spiritual gold. And it has other uses that was forgotten in the passage of time.

The usual commission rate for ghosts is around 5-30 spiritual gold (depending on the severity). But when it comes to the demons, it's around 300-2500 spiritual gold.

Once we arrived at the house, Chenxin told us what happened first.

According to Chenxin, the girl just fell asleep and her parents couldn't wake her up. They taught she was dead. But just to make sure she wasn't just sleeping for a really long time. Her parents called a doctor, according to the doctor she was still alive. But the doctor told them that this may be a supernatural phenomenon.

So, they found a fortune-teller to try and help them figure out what happened. The fortune-teller told them that she was cursed by a witch. The spell that the witch used was speculated to be Schlafen.

Schlafen is a curse used by witches, but the meaning of Schlafen is sleep. How Schlafen works is that it forces someone's soul to leave it's body and the soul will slowly disappear because there's no contact between them and the physical world. But spirits are an exception, some can get turned into a ghost by this spell.

Witches aren't really well known among the citizens and the exorcists, only those who receive formal training from a clan will know them and know how to handle them. I know how to handle witches, but I hardly deal with this kind of curse. And commissions related to witches are very few. So I can't make an estimate on how much spiritual gold you can earn by dealing with this kind of commission.

"So Ma'am, why don't you call a Witch Hunter to help you deal with this?"

"Witch Hunters are extremely expensive to hire."

"I understand."

The reason why we don't have that much commission related to witches is because of Witch Hunters. Their sole purpose is to hunt down witches.

"Ma'am I might be able to handle this."

"Are you sure?"

"Ma'am please believe in Mingche."

"Okay then."

After that Mingche immediately started to use spiritual power to make a summoning circle, then repeatedly said a chant. And the summoning circle glowed brightly, a portal like structure appeared and Mingche immediately went in.

Once I entered the girl's spiritual realm, it was like a lavish courtyard. Then I saw her soul, she seemed to embroidering a handkerchief. Then a child was there, it was probably an illusion. A servant followed the child.

"Lady Zhenyi, his lordship wants to see you."

When the servant said that, I immediately knew. So her life in the spiritual realm was of a random merchant or lord's concubine.

The word Spiritual Realm(s) itself explanatory. But a spiritual realm cannot accompany 2 or more people, unless you have enough spiritual power but even it's maximum capacity is 3 people. And it doesn't allow illusions to exist.

The only way illusions can exist in one's spiritual realm, is through third-party interference. In that case, one needs to seek out a way to make that person/thing leave. That's where priests come in, they cleanse the spiritual realm from ill-intentioned beings.

Now, I just need to find a way to communicate with that thing. The courtyard is probably where it's hiding, but their illusions are so annoying.

Illusions are annoying beings, they have many purposes. One of the most common uses for them is to deceive people or to guard something without using manpower, but illusions are still inferior. Because spirits and demons can easily tell whether it's an illusion or not. And illusions are not just puppets, they also have their own consciousness.

How should I enter the courtyard, should I be a chef or a servant.

Being a servant has some benefits compared to a chef. One of them is that I can freely come and go, in the name of Lady Zhenyi ordered me to blah blah blah.

If I become a chef, I would be at a disadvantage. As no one will order a chef to do things that much as there's "servants".

I should disguise myself as a servant. But first, I need to familiarize myself with the layout of the courtyard.

After I familiarized myself with the courtyard, I used spiritual power to imitate the clothes of the servants. And entered the courtyard as a servant, some servants questioned me. Which was to be expected but fortunately, I prepared my answers for their possible questions in advance.

When I finished answering their questions, they didn't doubt me anymore. I got tasked to give these documents to his "lordship" and they told me where his office was. After they left, I took a small peek at the document, and sure enough it was blank.

After I arrived at his office, I immediately went to the point. Although, once he knew what I was. He tried to attack me but I was fast enough to dodge it.

Then I tried to bargain for the girl's soul, it didn't work for the first time. But we eventually got to an agreement.

Once the girl's soul fell asleep I used a spell and managed to bring the girl back to the physical world.

But I ran out of spiritual power, and once the girl wakes up. Her spiritual realm will shut down, so I have to find a way to get out of here without its help.

Then I remembered that one time when I was trapped in someone's spiritual realm. I barely used any spiritual power getting out during that time but how.

Now, I remember. I used a certain spell it was zurück in die physische welt.

I should use it now.

"Zurück in die physische welt."
