A NEW START

“So, you have bought a big house.”

“Yeah”

“That’s nice. I hope will soon forget

your past.”

“I also think that.”

“So!”

“So?”

“What you will do now?”

“Just a . . .”

“Just what?”

“A new start.”

1. The Home

“Luke, when we will leave?” asked his

mother Dorothy. Dorothy, Luke’s mother was not fit any more as she was a heart

patient. For her illness, Luke left his job his military and started to live

with her. But Luke was depressed for his past memories. For this reason, He

started to visit Dr. Quinzel, a psychiatrist and it was his last day with her

in the morning as he was shifting to a new place in Wisconsin.

“Come on Luke, we can’t wait

anymore.” said his sister Jane.

“Uncle, please come quickly, we have

packed everything.” cried his niece, Jorgena.

They are specially excited for their

new start except Luke.

Luke, a kind of different man, was

both handsome and tall (5ft 9 inches) and had fair complexion along dark eyes.

He loves to live in himself only but there are a few people with whom he talks

frequently. He loves to live in peace and calm place. For this reason, he

bought his new house in peaceful place.

“Where is he? Did you saw him? He

never lates so much.”

“Yeah! That’s right but what it means

to sit in the car when he did not came” said Jane.

“Mom, look, uncle is coming.” said Jorga.

Luke come out from the house with the

land-lord and hand over the keys to him. It was a small rent house which was

quite fit for them. He came to his blue Chevrolet car and sat in it.

“Uncle, let’s go. We can’t wait

anymore.”

“Yeah, let’s go.”

Luke started the engine and drives

the car and thus they all started their new journey.

On the way …

“The wheels on the bus go round and

round,

Round

and round,

The wheels on the bus go round and

round,

All

through the town.”

Everyone was singing songs and enjoying the

excitement.

Luke was making a face of fun with them, although he

wasn’t happy from inside.

Suddenly his mom asked “Luke, where is this home?”

“Well it’s in the Wisconsin.”

“Where is Wisconsin?”

“It’s efden.”

“Oh, it’s the witch’s village.” said Jane.

“What? Don’t talk nonsense Jane. You know I don’t like

superstations.”

“I know that I am not talking nonsense Luke. It is

said that once a woman lived there who was expert in witchcraft but one day,

all villagers burnt her down as she did something wrong. Aren’t you were

informed about it before?”

“Yeah but…..”

“But? Then also…. You bought this house!”

“Look… I…”

“Hey, you two, stop quarrelling like babies.” Dorothy

said angrily interrupting them.

After this, no one talked on the way. Soon they

reached.

“Look, here it is our new home.” said Luke and stopped

the car before the entrance. All came out of the car.

“Oh my gosh, it’s our new home.” said Jorga and

Jorgena, twin daughters of Jane.

“Yeah it’s our new home.” said Luke.

“Uncle, it’s so big. Thank you uncle for this awesome

surprise.”

Dorothy was watching everything. Luke opened the door

and everyone entered inside the house except Dorothy who was standing beside him.

‘Mom, is everything alright?’

‘Yeah, I am okay.’

‘Are you sure?’

‘Yes, my son.’

‘But what are you thinking?’

‘Oh, that’s nothing­…..well…..Actually I was thinking

why you have bought this house. It’s really too big for us.’

‘You know mom to live in a mansion was one of mu

childhood dream.’

‘Yeah but that was your childhood dream. Can you even

image about its maintance cost?’

‘Oh mom, please stop now. Just enjoy it.’

‘I am enjoying but I don’t know why  ...……’

‘Well mom please­­­...’ Luke requested his mother to

stop.

‘Okay, I got it.’

Dorothy entered in the house as soon as she left Luke

over there. Luke was standing at outside for sometime as he was feeling that he

was all alone again.

This big house has become an unknown island which had

a lot of things to explore for all of the members, specially Jorga and Jorgena.

Luke was neither excited nor happy. He was just satisfied to live in the house.

He selected his room at the west part of the house from where he can see the

lake from inside of his room. He stepped towards the window and looked at the

beauty of nature. Suddenly he heard that someone was coming down from stairs

with great rush. Soon he turned; he saw his niece was behind him near the door,

looking at him.

‘So, mu beautiful ladies, do you have any quarries?’

‘Yeah, we do.’

‘What is that?’

‘You didn’t tell us that we have a lake at the

backside of our house.’

‘Well did I mention you that everything is surprise!’

‘No, you just mentioned about the house, not about the

lake or something.’

‘Okay your highness, I am sorry if I didn’t.’

‘But uncle…’

‘What happened now?’

‘You didn’t tell us one more thing.’

‘What is that?’

‘How many

secret rooms are there in this house?’

While having lunch, Luke asked ‘Do you like this

house?’

‘Yes.’ said everyone

‘It’s really a beautiful place. I really like it.’

said Dorothy

‘Thanks, Luke for this big surprise.’ said Jane.

Luke was glad to both of them smiling, specially Jane.

It’s after a long again she smiled.

After the lunch, Luke came to the kitchen to help his

sister Jane. ‘Jane, how can I help you?’

‘Please help me to wash those dishes. Jane pointed

towards the plates which were in the sink. Luke started to wash them. Suddenly he

said ‘Brother, we have to go to a grocery shop.’

‘Why? Didn’t you bring anything before shifting?’

‘What! Have you forgotten that I have two daughters to

look after? Although how can I mange everything?’

Luke was about to shout at her. Suddenly he controlled

his anger and said ‘Oh I am sorry. I just forget it. Please forgive me, my

majesty.’

‘I am not kidding, Luke.’

‘Neither me too. Now let’s get ready we have to go.’

Jane was about leave. She turned back and said

‘Brother, does it still hurts?

Luke stopped his car in front of a grocery shop. It’s Need-Only.

Luke and Jane entered the shop.

‘Take all those things which you need.’

‘Okay but I would love if you select four different toothpaste.’

‘Why?’

‘Why again! Don’t ask just take.’

Luke took all his needed things. Now it’s time to select four

different toothpaste which was a difficult thing for

him. He went towards the toothpaste-shelf. Suddenly he heard a soft but calm

voice from behind. Luke turned back.

‘May I help you, sir? I have been watching you that

you are nervous to select toothpaste.’

‘Well yeah, I really need your help.’

Luke looked at her properly. She was a girl of nearly twenty

eight. She has a dark short hair and a pair of blue eyes. She had nearly 5ft

height along fair complexion.

‘Can you please select four different toothpaste?’

‘Yeah sure sir, why not.’

‘I have selected mine but unable to select others.’

‘Here it is. Anything more, sir.’

‘No, thanks.’

‘Well sir if you don’t mind may I ask you something?’

‘Go ahead.’

‘Are you new comer over here sir?’

‘Yeah, I and my family shifted over here in the

morning only.’

‘Oh, may I know where if you don’t have any

objection?’

‘Well it’s the old fashioned mansion near the lake.’

‘Oh, that house, it’s really a bit far from my shop.’

Luke and Jane came back to the house. They brought all

their needed things. Luke was helping Jane to keep them from car to the

kitchen. Suddenly Jane asked ‘Do you know her?’

‘Whom?’

‘That girl in the store.’

‘Oh, no, no, I don’t.’

‘Then?’

‘She just helped me to select toothpaste.’

None of them had noticed Dorothy came there. She was

standing leaning the door and listening them.

‘What!’

‘What?’

‘Seriously?’

‘Yeah I was nervous to select them.’

Hearing this, both Jane and Dorothy started to laugh.

At that time both noticed Dorothy.
