I'm A professional Laser Tag player. I play in inter-galactic tournaments against other species, and try to bring home what's rightfully ours. How did I get here, you ask?
It's quite a long story, so let's take it a bit further back. I was born around 23 years ago, after which I spent most of my life as a regular human: mining for resources, repairing broken storage robots, eating the coloured food supplements (I loved the Green ones, my parents always said that a good boy always finishes his greens) and occasionally hearing the alarms and red lights of the 'aliens' My favourite game was tag, the one where we run and try to catch each other. My uncle said that it's a very traditional game, and the best tag players live a life of luxury.
at the age of 16, I was introduced to Lazer tag. honestly, I couldn't ask for anything more! it was like a childhood dream come true, you know. There was a change in this game, however. The Lazers weren't very friendly. anyone who touched the Lazer would immediately start melting, until only a pile of blood remained. I was confused at the beginning, because the Lazers looked to bright and pretty. Why would they ever harm us?
Eventually, we got used to the course. after conditioning us to dodging the Lazers, they gave us Lazers of our own: Lazer swords. It was so cool, trying to run from multiple different Lazers, both human and non human, that I completely forgot to ask the question of "Why are we doing this?"
I simply did not care. It was fun. I tagged a few people with my sword over the years, and then one day I was told the reason of our playing:
"𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦."
I couldn't understand what they meant, but I did know one thing: I could play with new friends. Once, we went against squids! it was very fun, trying to avoid all their legs while reaching out into their slimy membranes to tag them. My most difficult opponent was definitely the serpents, though. I just couldn't run inside them, you know! they always had this kind of juice flowing through them, so the Lazers didn't work from the inside. I had to wait until the match was over to be removed from the serpent, and I haven't talked to them since. That was the only day I couldn't play.
I think it's safe to say, I'm definitely going to free us from whatever is holding us. Dare I say, I may already be the best Lazer tag player in the whole galaxy! It's just a matter of time before I go back to my proud parents and show them the fruits of my efforts. speaking of fruits, I think I haven't seen one in a long long time...
