06:00 AM

Saya wakes up from her slumber, stretching her arms, back, legs, and cracking her neck on her bed, "hoaam~! aahh... good morning world", she pulls out her phone, and went to chats, she texted Koto as a start of her day, such productivity, "hehe, what a dad, always worrying about everyone else" she said as she walks to the bathroom.

after a refreshing shower and a fresh teeth brushing session, she wears her uniform, do her hair, get her stuff and runs down to the kitchen,"morning!" she says enthusiastically, "good morning Saya, go eat your breakfast" her mom said while cleaning the kitchen.

as she eat, she pulls out her phone like any other teenage kid would do and started to bug Koto on the chat, after done bugging him and finishing her breakfast, she takes her lunch and runs outside while saying, "I'm off to school!", and so she runs to school.

06:27 AM

after a couple minutes of running, she ran into a tall, brown haired guy, "Good morning Koto!" what a surprise, it's Koto the male lead, she smacks his back as she greets him, "wah! hey, be careful!" Koto says all annoyed and hurt, wich is reasonable.

"aaawww come on, it's just a weak little smack, aren't you a big strong man?" Saya says while walking in front of him, facing backwards to face him, which kinda worries and annoys Koto, "hey, walk normally, what if you trip?" Koto says in a worried but stern tone.

"it'll be fine~ I've done this many time's before-" as she says that she trips on a rock, "hey!" luckily mister strong man Koto here was there to catch her hand and pull her towards him, they are now in an awkward position where Saya is hugging him on the floor on top of him because mister strong man Koto couldn't support her weight.

"ah... i told you it was dangerous- why is your face red?" he looks down to her face that is beet red, from embarrassment? or is she flustered? who knows, "a-ahahah! nothing nothing! sorry about that" she quickly gets up to calm herself down from the embarrassment, so it is embarrassment.

"haah... you okay? did you get hurt?" Koto says while getting up and brushing his butt and back, "oh yeah, I'm fine, are you hurt?", "oh I'm fine, let's go we're almost late" and so they started walking to school, normally, and quietly, none of them both talked after that embarrassing accident.

06:53 AM

they've arrived, "7 minutes left before the bell, good thing we're not late... again" Koto narrows her eyes towards Saya, "a-ahaha! c-come on~, it took me a long time to get my hair done yesterday" she says while looking away.

"haah... nevermind that, I'm going to my class, see you at break?" Koto ask, "uh sure, I'll text you" she says as she walks beside him, "okay, well see you" he takes a turn and walks up the stairs, "hmmm, wonder if i did my homework..." as she says this, a chill feeling on her nape stops her.

she turns around to see if anyone is there, "...it's been getting cold lately huh?" she turns back and continues to walk, suddenly the feeling of being followed hits her, and so she stops and looks behind again, "..." she went silent for a couple of seconds, until suddenly.

"h-help... m-me..." the sound of a woman shocks her\, the voice was silent and crackly\, as if it's in her head\, "what the hell..." she stood there\, waiting for something to happen... until\, *RING!!* "Kya!" the sound of the bell shocks her\, "haah.. haah..." she breathes heavily\, she tries to calm herself down by controlling her breathing.

"mnh... let's just go to class..." she walks, her heart races from fear, she thought to herself "...was that a ghost?" she seems scared but... fascinated and intrigued, she wants to know more but at the same time, scared of the thought of experiencing something so horrific again.

09:02 AM

the bell rings, it's break time, "wonder where Koto is..." she pulls out her phone and opens chats, it seems Koto just got out of class, he asked her to go to the roof to eat together, "hehe, eating together at the roof, seems like a scene from a romance manga...what happened before... should i tell him?".

as she ponders to herself, Koto calls her, the ringtone shocks her, she picks up the phone, "hey, you coming or not?" Koto asks while walking to the roof, "y-yeah, just a sec" she hangs up, grabs her lunch and runs to the roof, "hey! what's up?" she opens the door, "nothing much, you brought your lunch?" Saya smiles while showing him her lunch box, and then she sits beside him.

so they sat down, ate their foods and chatted, after a couple minutes, saya finally tells him what happened, "...Koto, do you believe in ghosts?" hearing this question, Koto looks at her and narrows his eyebrows, "are you saying you've seen one?" Koto asks her, "well... this morning, when we i was going to class, a chill hit my nape, and I've got the feeling of someone or something following me, when i looked back i heard a voice of a woman saying... help me".

hearing this Koto was dumbfounded, "it must be your imagination", "her voice was so coarse and prickly, it felt like she was inside my head, like she's actually calling to me, there was no one there except for me Koto, and I'm sure it wasn't my imagination" she gives him a serious and stern look, "...don't mind it, you're just tired", "ah!" Koto flicks her forehead with a stern, but somewhat worried look.

"uuu~ I'm telling you-" before she finishes talking, Koto gets up and walks away, "well, break is almost over, better get back, and stop talking about nonsense, see you" and he leaves, "hey! come back here you!... haah... fine" she gives up on talking back and cleans the place, when she finished she walks to the door and goes down the stairs and walks to her classroom.

13:05 PM

school has ended, and Saya was left for class duty with two girls, "haah... this will take a while, better tell Koto" she gets her phone and opens chats, she tells Koto she has class duty and it will take a while, she told him to leave first, but he refused while typing, "I'll just wait for you, I'm worried if you somehow get into trouble while going back alone".

"haah, is he really my dad? hehe, fine fine, I'll finish this fast" and so she continues cleaning, 30 minutes passed, the two girls left, Saya was given the last work and that is organizing the books on the back of the class, "hm~ hmhm~ hmmhmm~" as she hums and organize, 8 minutes has passed, a text from Koto came, asking where is she? has she finished?, Saya looks out the window and sees him, she smiles and waves, Koto spots her and waves back.

"he really waited huh, can't believe it" she texted him saying she'll go down soon, "okay! let's go home" she runs outside, and to the stairs, when suddenly, "huh?" she looks out the window, to see a lady standing on the ledge of the roof, with a baby, "w-what? is she going to jump?!" she texted Koto to wait for a couple more minutes, and so she ran to the roof.

as she arrives, she looks for the lady, "lady! where are you?! don't do this!" as she keeps looking, a familiar and horrifying voice calls for her, "h... help.... me..." hearing this, Saya stops and thinks to herself, "no way... is that lady..." she goes quiet and slowly walks backwards, "i... better get out of here" as she turns around, she sees a headless lady holding a dead baby.

"?!" she jumps back and falls on her bottom, Saya was dead silent, her face going pale, her body shaking, cold sweat dropping, she sat still, in shock and fear, "m.. my... daugh.... ter..." the lady reaches out to her, and walks closer, "haah! haah! KYYAAAHH!!" Saya quickly gets up and runs away, trying to find another exit on the roof.

"Saya?!" Koto hears her scream, without a second thought, he ran in to search for her, "where is she?!", "HELP!!" she screams again, "the roof!" he grabs a fire extinguisher and runs upstairs, "help... me!" the headless lady chases after her on the rooftop, "haah! get away!" she throws her bag at her, it didn't stop the lady as she keeps chasing her, "HELP ME!!".

after a couple minutes running, Saya was cornered on the roof, with only a ledge behind her, she can't do anything, "haah! haah! s-stay away!" her hearth racing, and her breathing all ragged, she leans on the railings, "help mee!", "please just go!" she gets closer to the edge, almost falling, with no hope left, she jumps to the ledge and looks down, "haah! haah! ngh!" she was getting ready to jump, but.

"grah!" Koto appears and kicks the lady on the back of her knee, she goes down and Koto bangs the fire extinguisher to the top of her torso and hits her again on the side, the lady slams to the railings and slumps down, "Saya! come here!" Koto calls for Saya, "K-koto-" trying to turn back, her hand slipped, "?! Saya!" Koto ran after her.

"gah!" Koto jumps to the ledge and grabs the railing with his left hand, and grabs Saya's hand with his right hand, "Koto!", "come on! grh! pull yourself up!", Saya manages to pull herself up, after that she pulls Koto up, and they lay down from exhaustion, "haah... haah..." Saya looks to the side to look for the lady, but she was gone.

"what... the hell... was that..." Koto asks, "mnh... I'll explain... later..." the both get up and walks away, "haah... hu.. t-thank you... Koto..." she cries as she thanks Koto, " haah... there there... don't need to thank me.. " he pats her head with a soft smile, "but still... thank you.. ", "i know, i know" he hugs her warmly.

19:08 PM

she enters her room after a shower, she jumps to her bed and opens chats, she chats with Koto about what happened, and what they should do, "hmm... let me see... Karlan highschool history ..." she searches for something that is similar with the ghost they met, "hm? what's this?" she founds a news article about the death of a mother and her baby 6 years ago on the school festival.

"hmm... let's tell Koto" she shares the article with Koto, and they decided to help the lady by meeting her daughter that went to their school 6 years ago tomorrow, "hehe... seems we're going on an adventure, hmmm... there seems to be a lot of stories about the school, hmm...".

she asks Koto about making a group, a group that solves the mysteries about the school, "aha! i knew he would agree, hm? a name?... how about... Karlan Mysteries?".

Chapter 2 | The Headless Mother

New day new episode, Saya awakens from her slumber, "hnng~! Aahh..." she strecthes her body and gets out of bed, went to take a shower and brush her teeth, she wears her regular clothes and runs down, "morning mom!" "morning saya, are you going somewhere?" her mother asked.

"I'm going to koto's house, see ya!" she answers as she wears her shoes and runs out, "wait! at least have breakfast!" her mother screams at her to no avail for saya is already running outside, "oh i should tell koto first" she slows down, from running to walking and looking at her phone(don't do this).

She's engrossed to her phone, not noticing her surroundings, she bumps into a blonde dude, "ah!" she falls on her bum and drops her phone, "oh sorry! Here, you hurt?" the blonde dude lends her his hand, "i-it's okay, i wasn't paying attention" she accepts his hand and gets up with his help, "wait where's my phone?" "here you go" the dude gave saya her phone back, "thank you" she bows slightly to show her gratitude.

"don't mention it, i don't mind bumping into a cute girl" he winks at her as he try to flirt with her, "i-I'm flattered, um..." "the names Ray" Saya stands up and brushes her pants and phone, "it's nice meeting you Ray, my name's Saya, again I'm sorry, i was in a hurry, bye!" she bows again and continues running

"w-wait!... Haah... I should've asked her for directions first" he walks away, now back to Saya, after a couple minutes of running, she finally arrives at his home, she knocks, "hellooo~ Koto you home?" and suddenly the sounds of someone running and stumbling in the house appears, and so does Koto's voice, "y-yes! Please wait!".

And so Saya waits, after a couple more minutes Koto emerges out of his house, "morning" he greets Saya with a morning and a smile, "what happened? You cleaning the house?" "yeah, my parents was partying last night with their friends, again" Koto says with a tired and dissapointed face, and a annoyed tone.

"must be hard huh? Living with a family like that" Koto hasn't been able to live peacefully after his big sister's death, after she died his parents were crushed, they get drunk, make themselves sick, and even stopped working, Koto doesn't have the heart to leave them both so he stayed and worked just to keep them barely alive, with the help of Saya's big brother that is working overseas.

"yeah...but i gotta thank your big bro for helping me, he's been a great help, so tell him i said thank you" "no problemo! So anyway, i found where she lived, she's lives 3 blocks that way" she points on a direction to show him where she could probably be living at, "Moonlight Road? that's actually surprisingly close, do you know where her house is?" "um... I don't know where her exact house is..." Saya looks down and fiddles with her fingers, "...haah... Guess we'll have to ask people, what's her name?" "Yakara Huteboshi".

and so they walked to the area and asked the locals. some doesn't even know the school, and strangely enough, everyone said the same thing, "Karlan Curse...what do you think they mean by this?". Saya asked koto as she sips her drink, "...i don't know, probably some rumors of the school" Koto answered while eating his meat bun, "huh, well, at least we found her house, maybe she knows something" Saya and Koto walks towards an abandoned looking part of town, there are some stray dogs and homeless children, but that's all.

"...this place seems eerie, better be careful" Koto walks closer to Saya, "what? You being a big baby~?" Saya teases Koto for doing so, "oh shut up, the baby here is you" "sure~" they continue walking and finally arrived at the girl's house, "this is it huh? It seems pretty... Run down" broken wooden walls, holes on the roofs and broken glass windows, it's as if it's going to be bulldozed soon, "i heard this place has been bought by some rich family, and they're going to rebuild this whole part of the city".

"...then the children?" Saya asks while looking at the children that's sleeping on the ground, "...let's meet her" Koto dodges the question, he knocks the door... A couple minutes later, a lady that looks like in her twenties opens the door, "um... May i ask why you're here?" the lady asks, "good morning miss, my name is Koto and this here is my friend Saya".

The lady looks at the both of them, and then asked, "again... May i ask why you're here?" the lady asks again, "miss, are you by chance miss Yakara Huteboshi?" Koto asks while looking at her dead and colorless eyes, "yes... Again... Why are you here" Yakara asks, but this time with an impatient tone.

"miss Yakara, we would like to ask you some questions, may we please come in?" by hearing this, Yakara's eyes widen, and so she asks, "...is it about the curse?" she asks Koto while slightly closing the door, "...yes-" the door closes as soon as Koto answered, "...", "h-huh? Did she just close the door?".

"...let's go" Koto turns around and walks away, "h-huh? Wait!" Saya grabs Koto's hand, "are we really just going to turn away and leave? You know what we saw right? Are you really going to leave her alone?" Saya tries to persuade Koto to keep trying, hesitantly, Koto turns around, "Saya, listen to me, did you see her reaction? She is obviously not comfortable talking about the so called curse, it's better to just leave her alone and just act like nothing happened".

"are you really asking me to forget that horrifying experience?! We almost died Koto!" "That's my point! If we're still trying to deal with this we'll soon be killed! Let's just ignore the ghost and never walk alone at school!" With that said, Saya stood there staring at Koto, "...i can't... " Saya mumbles, "huh?" "...i can't just ignore it, she was asking for help, you saw the article yesterday right? Isn't that just... Sad?".

"..." hearing this, Koto can only stand there, unable to speak, until suddenly the door opens, "you two... come in" and old man was behind the door, looking at them with a smile while gesturing them to come in, "...let's go in" Koto holds Saya's hand and walks in, "uh- o-okay!" and so they walked in, the walls were crumbling, windows gone, and glass shards all over the floor.

"please, sit down" the man sits down on the floor, and the two follows, "you're here to ask about the incident 6 years ago correct?" the man asks them while still putting up a sweet smile, "yes, we would like to know more about the incident" Saya asks the man with a smile as well, "hmhmhm...by the looks of it, you two are students correct? Are you by chance the students of that school?" "yes, the both of us are students of Karlan Highschool".

By hearing this, the man suddenly gets confused, "Karlan Highschool? What school is that?" Both Saya and Koto was shocked after hearing this, "...forget about it, can you please tell us about the incident?" Koto asks the man, while Saya is still confused on why doesn't he know about the school, "yes well..."

A couple minutes later

"...so she wasn't given a proper burial?" "haah... Our family can't even find enough food to make ourselves full, not to mention every single money we had was put into Yakara's tuition, so it's a given that we can't give her a proper burial" hearing his story, Saya was put to tears, "hey come on now... You don't have to cry" Koto wipes her tears and holds her shoulder to comfort her, "i-it's just... So sad...".

"haha... And by your story, you've seen a headless ghost carrying a baby chasing you yesterday?" "yes, we searched about this online and we found some articles" the man sat there, thinking about something, "...so your purpose in asking me about this is?" "we would like to help her, my friend here said that the lady needed help, and to prevent this incident to happen again, we would like to let her pass on to heaven, to pass on in peace".

"and how do you plan to help her?" the man asks Koto with a serious face, "...by letting her meet her daughter, and burning her body to give her a proper burial".

The two left the house after telling the man what they are going to do to help the ghost, as they walk Saya asks Koto a question, "hey, don't you think it's weird?" Koto looks at Saya, "what's weird?" Saya stops in front of Koto and turns around, "every time we mention Karlan Highschool everyone always answers in the same way, 'what's that?, i've never heard of that school before', don't you think that's weird?" Saya looks at Koto with a confused look, so Koto pats her head and says, "they probably just never went to our school, just ignore it".

"but our school is literally in the middle of town! and do you expect me to believe what you said when even the husband of the ghost lady doesn't even know of the school?" Koto frowns after hearing this and looks a bit worried, "listen Saya, he's an old man, he's probably gone senile" as he says this he walks past Saya, "hey! come back here!" Saya turns around and sprints towards Koto to catch up to him.

09:45 PM

Saya walks out of her bathroom and jumps to her bed, she lays there and looks at her phone, she was looking at news articles to find something that caught her eye, and something did, "hm? Illusion Pill?" she opens the article and starts reading, ".....a group that sells pills that causes illusions have been caught just this morning, some victims were found trapped in a house that has been sealed off 5 years ago, some victims were found wandering the towns doing questionable stuff, two students were spotted in an abandoned school yesterday, before any officials can do anything the two seems to have disappeared... now this is interesting, let's send it to Koto" after sending the article to Koto, Koto replies, "it's a good thing they were caught, i hope those two students were found he said... he's such a nice guy" Saya smiles and closes her phone and went to sleep.

Saya opens her eyes, "ugh...my head hurts..." she gets down from her bed and starts walking using the wall as support to her bathroom, she washes her face and looks in the mirror, "huh?" she sees blood stains on her bathroom wall, she looks to the side and sees that the window is barricaded using planks, "...what in the world..." she walks towards the window and looks outside, her neighborhood was dark and empty, as if it's been abandoned for a long time, "what the hell..." she slowly steps back and suddenly bumps into something, "urk-" a man closes her mouth using a napkin and holds her still, Saya tries to fight back but to no avail, she then calms down and fell unconscious, "...that takes care of that" the man then feeds her a pill and carries her to her bed and silently left.

Saya wakes up, "hoaam~ that was a good sleep" she looks at her phone and greeted Koto, "hehe, guess today's the day huh? hope we succeed" she hops down from her bed and walks into her bathroom, she then washes her face and brushes her teeth, "hmm~ hmm~ hm?" her vision flashes from her bloody room to her normal room for a second, she wipes her eyes and then the mirror, "...that was weird" she then puts down her toothbrush and gargles, after taking a shower she gets dressed and runs down, "morning mom!" she grabs her food box and runs out, "bye mom!" usually she would be given an answer by her mother but today she didn't get any, "mom?".

she slows down to see her mom cutting some veggies silently, with no sound at all, "...mom-" then suddenly someone taps her back, "morning" it was Koto, seems Koto was up earlier than before, "urk-" she suddenly feels as if she remembers something and gets concerned, Koto looks at her concerned face and asks, "what's wrong? something on your mind?" Saya looks at him then at her mother, "...nothing" she then walks to school, "hm? hey wait", Koto follows her, the walk was silent and awkward, "...so, about the lady-" "Koto" Saya interrupts Koto, "y-yeah?" Saya looks down and then looks at Koto again, "...i'll tell you later".

09:00 AM

the bell rings, everyone is leaving the classroom, "...i can't believe this" Saya's vision is blurry, and sometimes it flickers from a normal classroom, to an abandoned classroom, "...!! blurgh!" Saya spits out the pill that she was fed by that man, "ugh-" her vision becomes clear, she sees the once clean and tidy classroom as a destroyed and dirty room, "what...Koto" she then runs outside trying to find Koto, "Koto! Koto where are you!" as she runs through the abandoned school, a knife flies towards her, "kya!" she avoided the knife while also falling down, "well, didn't expect you would be free from the effect of the drug".

Saya recognizes the man, "ugh! Koto!!!" she stands up quickly and starts running, "come back here kid!" the man chases her, Saya runs as fast as she can to search for Koto, then suddenly "agh!" she bumps into him, "Saya? what are you doing running in the hallways?" "Koto! we need to go, NOW!" Koto is confused by this and looks behind her, he sees a teacher walking towards them looking mad, "haah... did you anger the teacher?" hearing this Saya was dumbfounded for a second, but after some thinking she finally realizes what's happening, "whatever you see right now is not real Koto!, do you remember the article i sent you last night?! the students were probably us two! you're in the influence of a drug Koto!".

Koto smiles at her and says, "you don't have to make some dumb excuses to get away from punisment, now come on let's talk to the teacher" Koto grabs Saya and walks towards the teacher, "what? NO! Koto stop!!" the man laughs while holding a machete while walking towards them, "STOP IT KOTO PLEASE!!!" the man lifts the machete up, "NO DON"T DO IT!!!" and as the man swings down, she wakes up, "HAAH! haah! haa!...haa.." her heartbeat is fast, she was sweating and crying, "i-it...was a dream..."
