The thing with Disney movies is, there is no such thing like secret affair. Growing up believing that all men loyally loving their woman make today felt like a lightning struck.
I was enjoying my morning coffee at Starbuck, the waiter winked at me and wrote me some cringe quotes on my cup, though I gladly accepted because some sweet talks in the morning could do me some good. Jonah never called me these two days straight. I just know he should have meeting his business investors in Florida today, and came back by the evening. Then I went ahead to my company, remembering that I, too, have an important meeting to attend.
Miranda waited for me in the hall, with her tablet on and a worried face. "You are here. Almost late by 50 seconds."
I shook my head. "Still on time, then. Why the dark face?"
We walked side by side as the front door automatically slide open and the security nodded their head to me as I slipped my body through the body scanner and greeted me, "Ma'am."
"The investors said they need some revision on the budget. They said you asked too much, told me at least they only want to invest 700 million instead of 1.5 billion," Miranda said with haste, although we were waiting on the elevator to open. I flashed my own presentation on my mind, losing 800 million would be a waste.
"Never mind them. They will agree to invest 1.5 billions," I gave her a grin. "Or more."
"Oh, well, why?"
"Because they should have know," I entered the elevator and showed Miranda a ring. "That I am gonna marry the CEO of Blacks Entertainment. Their artists would likely use our service when they have a gala."
"Using Jonah won't give you any good, Shya. What if things went awry?"
I did not know why I have the nerve to use my fiancé as a backup. That's like the number 1 rule of every business woman out there: do not depend to anyone but yourself.
That was a mistake. Because after I got 1.8 deals from the new investors, some disaster happens and went really really wrong.
It was almost 4 p.m when my boss stopped congratulating me for being able to settle the deal. Though I can't be promoted because I already reached the highest position possible, second to the CEO, Mr. Ryan gave me a huge bonus. I can buy two or three Hermes at once with the bonus. Exciting. So I went to the Brookfield Place to buy some shoes - because I am happy I would like a shoes, please - with Miranda. But instead of shoes, we found Jonah in Louis Vuitton, giving some chick the leather bag out of the store display.
"Ishya," said Miranda, looking at me with shock. "Does Jonah have a sister or cousin, something like that?"
Good question. But sadly, Jonah Grant was all alone in this world. Well, he still had a Mom, but she was bedridden. He hated his relative, so he was all alone. I supposed. "Well, might be some investors needed to be impressed, or -"
Then he kissed her and the girl laughed happily, holding tight to his waist. They went out the store happily like a child. "Well that's awkward." Miranda peeked at my face, my emotion flashed with either anger or jealousy. Or maybe something else like "I know this would happen."
I gulped. Our wedding was three weeks a way. I bought the dress and they would sent it to my penthouse tomorrow. The invitation were sent. Guest confirmed. I just need to walk the aisle, to Jonah and that's it. But turned out things were not really in my favor.
What to do? What to do if you found out your fiancé was having an affair? And your wedding is three weeks away? Should I continue the wedding? Should I break up with him?
Because of my silence, Miranda tugged my sleeves looking sick. "You shouldn't have marry him."
I looked at her, laughed. "I still need to confirm things to Jonah, honey. I am sorry the shopping have to be postponed. Is it okay for you if I leave you?"
"Well, if you leave, I will go home, too. It's not fun already," she said. "I am so sorry you have to go through this."
I just smiled, tapped her shoulders, and hurriedly went back to my penthouse.
