Chapter : 1 - Helping her love to chase his love
"Sometimes the hardest battle is smiling while helping the person you love....fall for someone else"
Venice sat across from Bunny in a small café near her college.
She smiled while listening to him talk, nodding occasionally, pretending everything was normal.
But with every word he spoke, her heart cracked a little more.
“Venice… there’s a girl I like.”
The words hung in the air.
For a moment, Venice’s heart started racing. Her mind filled with hope she didn’t even realize she had been holding onto.
Maybe… maybe he meant her.
She waited for the next words, trying to hide the nervous excitement in her chest.
Bunny scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
“I don’t know how to say this properly. It might sound weird… but you’re the only one I can ask for help.”
Venice leaned forward slightly, smiling.
“Calm down, Bunny. You can tell me anything.”
He took a deep breath.
“I like a girl… and she’s your friend.”
Venice froze.
“Her name is Danny.”
The world around her suddenly felt quiet.
The café was still full of people, cups clinking, conversations happening everywhere—but Venice couldn’t hear any of it.
Her mind had gone completely blank.
Bunny waved his hand in front of her face.
“Venice? Hey… are you okay?”
She blinked slowly, forcing herself back to reality.
“Yes… I heard you.”
Bunny sighed with relief.
“I know it sounds crazy. But things just happened and… I really like her. Since she’s your friend, I thought maybe you could help me talk to her. You know… help me get close to her.”
Venice repeated the words in her mind.
Help him.
Help him pursue another girl.
The boy she had quietly loved for years was asking her to help him fall in love with someone else.
Bunny looked at her with hopeful eyes.
“You’re the only one I trust with this, Venie. Please help me.”
Venice forced a smile.
“Okay.”
Bunny’s face instantly brightened.
“Really? Thank you! You’re the best!”
Venice nodded, pretending everything was fine.
But inside, something had already broken.
After Bunny left the café, Venice walked slowly to the restroom.
The moment the door closed behind her, the tears came.
She leaned against the sink, covering her mouth to stop the sobs.
“Why…?” she whispered.
“Why him?”
She cried until her eyes turned red and swollen.
Then she picked up her phone and called the only two people who would understand.
Pamela.
Grace.
“Can you come to my dorm?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“What happened?” Pamela asked immediately.
But Venice could only whisper one thing before hanging up.
“Please… just come.”
Because sometimes the hardest thing in the world is smiling…
while helping the person you love fall for someone else.

By the time Pamela and Grace reached Venice’s dorm, it was already evening.
The door was slightly open.
Pamela pushed it gently and stepped inside. Grace followed right behind her.
Venice was sitting on the bed, hugging a pillow tightly. Her eyes were swollen and red. It was obvious she had been crying for a long time.
Grace rushed to her immediately.
“Veniee! What happened?” she asked, sitting beside her.
Pamela closed the door and walked over calmly, but the worry on her face was clear.
“Why are you crying like this?” Pamela asked softly.
The moment Venice saw them, the tears came back again.
For a while, she couldn’t even speak. She just cried while Grace rubbed her back and Pamela handed her some water.
After a long time, Venice finally whispered,
“Bunny… likes someone.”
Grace blinked.
Pamela raised an eyebrow.
“That idiot?” Grace said immediately.
Pamela gave her a look. “Grace.”
“What? I’m just saying,” Grace muttered.
Venice wiped her tears.
“He asked me to help him,” she continued quietly.
Silence filled the room for a moment.
Grace stared at her.
“Wait… he asked YOU to help him chase another girl?”
Venice nodded slowly.
Grace threw her hands in the air.
“That guy has lost his mind.”
Pamela, however, was watching Venice carefully.
“Venie,” she said gently, “why are you this upset?”
Venice looked down at her hands.
For a moment, she didn’t answer.
Grace squinted at her suspiciously.
Then suddenly her eyes widened.
“Oh my God.”
Pamela looked at her. “What?”
Grace pointed dramatically at Venice.
“She likes him.”
Venice’s head snapped up immediately.
“I do not!”
Grace crossed her arms and leaned back.
“Please. I’ve known you since we were kids. You cry over losing your favorite pen. Today you’re crying like the world ended.”
Pamela sighed softly.
“Grace is right.”
Venice stared at them, shocked.
“You both knew?”
Grace snorted.
“Of course we knew.”
Pamela nodded.
“You started liking him around sixth grade, right?”
Venice’s jaw dropped.
“How do you even know that?!”
Grace burst out laughing.
“Because every time Bunny’s name came up, you suddenly became very interested in the conversation.”
Pamela added calmly,
“And whenever he fought with you, you stayed angry for three days.”
Grace leaned closer to Venice with a teasing grin.
“And whenever he said ‘Venie’ in that stupid soft voice, you turned into a tomato.”
Venice covered her face with her hands.
“I hate you both.”
Grace laughed even harder.
Pamela smiled slightly and squeezed Venice’s hand.
“So… you love him?”
Venice stayed silent for a moment.
Then she nodded slowly.
“I think I have for a long time.”
Grace shook her head dramatically.
“And that idiot asked YOU for help.”
Pamela sighed.
“Men can be very stupid sometimes.”
Venice let out a small laugh through her tears.
Grace immediately pointed at Pamela.
“Did you hear that? She laughed. Progress.”
Pamela smirked.
“Good. Because if she cries again, we’re kidnapping Bunny and throwing him into a lake.”
Grace nodded seriously.
“Yes. I support this plan.”
Venice laughed again despite herself.
For a moment, the pain in her chest felt a little lighter.
Because even when your heart breaks…
Having people who sit beside you and make you laugh makes it easier to breathe.

"Some summers are remembered for sunshine, some for laughter, but ours was unforgettable for the chaos, arguments, and strange connection we never truly understood."
Venice and Bunny had known each other for as long as they could remember.
Their families were close friends, which meant every summer vacation was the same.
All the cousins gathered in C City.
And unfortunately for Venice… Bunny was always there too.
Their group was big and chaotic.
Venice.
Bunny.
Ryan.
Pamela.
Paul.
Grace.
Daniel.
Stella.
Everyone except Bunny was related somehow.
But somehow, Bunny fit into the group like he had always belonged there.
Every summer day looked the same.
Playing games in the courtyard.
Running through the streets.
Fighting over snacks.
And of course…
Venice and Bunny arguing about absolutely everything.
“Why is she playing with us?” Bunny would complain loudly.
Venice crossed her arms.
“Excuse me? This is MY house.”
Bunny rolled his eyes dramatically.
“If she’s playing, I’m not playing.”
Grace groaned.
“Oh my God, here we go again.”
Ryan sighed.
“You say this every day, Bunny.”
Pamela shook her head.
“You two are exhausting.”
But five minutes later…
Bunny would still be there, playing with everyone.
Because no matter how much he complained, he never actually left.
And somehow, every single game ended the same way.
Venice and Bunny becoming partners.
Every.
Single.
Time.
“Why do we always get paired together?” Venice groaned.
“Because nobody else wants to deal with either of you,” Ryan replied.
The rest of the group burst out laughing.
Grace smirked.
“You two fight like a married couple.”
“WE ARE NOT!” both Venice and Bunny shouted at the same time.
Which made everyone laugh even harder.
Despite all the fighting, there was one strange thing about them.
Music.
It was the only topic they never argued about.
Venice loved music—especially K-pop.
Bunny preferred country music.
Two completely different tastes.
But somehow, when the topic was music, the fighting stopped.
One afternoon, Venice was sitting on the stairs listening to a song on her phone.
Bunny walked past her.
“What are you listening to?” he asked.
“K-pop,” Venice replied.
Bunny nodded thoughtfully.
“Not bad.”
Venice looked at him suspiciously.
“You’re not going to make fun of it?”
Bunny shrugged.
“Why would I?”
He leaned against the railing and said casually,
“Music doesn’t have a language barrier. You don’t need to understand the
Words. You can just feel it.”
Venice blinked.
For once… she had nothing to argue about.
It was the only thing she liked about Bunny.
He never judged her music.
But of course, moments like that never lasted long.
The next day they were fighting again.
And the entire group watched the chaos with amusement.
Because to them…
Venice and Bunny fighting was simply part of summer.
And honestly?
Summer would have been boring without it.
