It was an ordinary day at Black Cherry, a restaurant that was known for its black cherry pie, and Alex, a girl who attended HilUx High School, was exhausted and very tired. Alex was a sixteen year old high school student who was known for her beauty and for being cold to everyone around her. She had wavy dark brown hair with natural highlights and stormy blue eyes that were strangely light and bright. She had gotten herself a part time job at Black Cherry, but it was harder than she had thought it would be. She had to handle rude customers and grouchy citizens who took out their anger on her when they were vexed towards another. It was 3:00 p.m. and her shift would end at 5:00 p.m. She imagined arriving at her apartment, and her petite dog, Angel, approaching the door with his tiny little feet. Angel would approach her and put his paws on her knees, begging her to hold him, and once she held him up, he would lick her face repeatedly. Alex and Angel may seem to have a normal relationship between owner and dog, but their relationship was indeed different. When Alex had a boyfriend and they broke up, Angel was always there for her. When her grandmother had passed away, he had been there for her. Lastly, when her parents barely met up with her because they despised her, he would always be there for her. He would comfort her until her constant tears stopped and her sadness completely disappeared. He would even play with her to distract her from work and school which gave her much stress. He was her home and he gave her freedom.

Alex had finished her shift, and it was finally time for her to go home to meet the love of her life. Once she arrived home, she did not hear the tiny footsteps approaching her door like she had always heard. She shook it off because it did not seem like a big deal, but when she entered the apartment and he did not approach her, she knew something was wrong. She ran towards her bedroom and in front of her door, she saw Angel with a severe wound. It had not been long before the culprit had left because Angel was still lying there whimpering. She knew that he could not be saved due to the big wound, and she only had a few seconds left with him. Alex fell to her knees and while she was next to him. She whispered to him, “It’s okay, you’re okay… I love you… you’re love of my life…”
